Tankathon: Where we stand on draft position…..
PleaseCutStewart replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
We are going to have a hard time outsucking the Titans and Saints. The good news is that I think we will get a top 5 pick -
Actually Jaaska is on a two-way this year, his one way doesn’t start until next year so he can be sent down.
-
Two WRs and a QB among the highest paid. Like unless you're legit drafting OL every pick (they took one in the third and one in the fifth lol) you're going to struggle to put together any semblance of a good OL...
-
It's not the kickers fault it's all the pieces around him gotta give him 4 years to find out if he's good or not
-
Have you met Eddie Pineiro?

Yeah, they're shortening his career letting him take these beatings. And I put some of the blame on him too. He lobbied HARD for them to re-sign Higgins. I mean, I get it. You have chemistry with the guy, etc. But that's where as a GM you just gotta sit him down and be like "Listen man, we want you to play another decade plus and that's not gonna happen if we don't protect you and I'm gonna struggle to protect you if we have two of the highest paid WRs in the league tying up our cap space. We can't afford to keep him and protect you and I have to value protecting you. We can get similar production out of a lesser player with Chase on the other side drawing the coverage." -
How many 60+ yards kicks have there been this season so far? Its not the norm. The distance has increased to 50+ sure. That is becoming the norm to attempt. But complaining about 1 missed 55 yard kick when he has kicked a 57 yarder with room to spare is being overdramatic.

The Bengals got lost in the sauce after taking Chase over OT in the draft ended up paying off. -
It was a terrible choice... They relied on Burrows miraculous ability to be sacked repeatedly every game and still throw for 300 yards, it felt like. Which is INSANE. It's like the Panthers refusing to really try to get Cam receiving help until it was too late.

Mike kaye and josh graham on panthers issues
HPPantherzfan replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
He should have just came and said what a lot of us on here have already said, your right, they are terrified of throwing the ball down field, why is that? Just say it! I have never seen an NFL player, let alone an NFL QB coddled so much, it’s sickening. But at least he did have the balls to say Bryce can’t elevate a team. I honestly believe the approach being half baked and contradictory is because they can’t figure out exactly what they have in the QB position, Frank couldn’t figure out what to do with him either. At some point the excuses has to stop for this guy chalk it up as an expensive loss and move on!- 1 reply

I mean TMac is looking like a very solid pick. In fact basically this whole draft is. Honestly drafting QBs is a roll of the dice and BY was going either first or second no matter what (QB hungry) team was drafting there. While I still think Stroud was a better pick, BY is a case of fooling the majority of the league, not just our FO. Xavier Legette is IMO far more damning. -

I thought paying Tee Higgins was a huge mistake. Not that he isn't a very good WR, but just that they already have huge money tied up in Chase and they desperately need help on the OL. Having the best WR tandem in the NFL doesn't do you much good if the QB is having to run for his life immediately after taking the snap on most plays. I know tag and trades get talked about by fans far more than they actually happen, but that really seemed like an ideal tag and trade situation. You don't want to let that guy walk for a 3rd round comp pick but you can't afford to pay him either with the other glaring roster needs. -

They traded it to Chicago -
Their D occasionally has a play or two but that OL is atrocious. When people talk about how we don't protect our QB and I turn on the Cincy game while responding to the Huddle... Eesh.

Does it matter? Look what Tepper and co did with their last 1st overall pick -

If this the easy stretch then lawd help us. It just so happens we play our fellow bottom feeders the first few games of the season. -
We've reached the "Hot Take: Bryce isn't as bad as everyone thinks, he's probably more like a game manager!" point where special media is generating clicks from how insane that title sounds

If there's no hope in the season then there's at least some kind of hope in the draft. -

The Bengals getting off to a slow start is every bit as predictable as the Panthers winning a couple of throwaway games late to tank their draft position. What's off in Cincy is the same thing that's been off in Cincy for awhile now. They're absolute trash on D and on the OL. -

Top ten - go defense - get a vet QB - get a defensive HC - kick Bryce to the curb- suck again next year -
He doesn't have a weak leg... He may have control issues. Hard to say. Dude did hit a 57 yarder...

I hope we finish 7-10 just to spite the tankers. Draft position doesn’t mean a damn thing if nobody wants to coach here or come here from Free Agency. It means you also need to have people make the correct pick. -
