For those of you concerned about whether Cam would be able to have a career after football -- he's going to be all right Monday night during the BET Awards, sports hosts Ashley Nicole Moss and Cam Newton announced they will be hosting a sports spinoff called 106 & Sports. Moss and Newton made the announcement together live on air, explaining that 106 & Sports will go beyond the game to cover the culture and community around the competition. The show will debut this fall. “106 & Sports is about more than scores and statistics,” Newton said. “It’s about the culture around the game. The players, the personality, and of course, the passion. But most importantly, it’s about the fans.” https://awfulannouncing.com/pop-culture/cam-newton-ashley-nicole-moss-announce-new-bet-show-106-sports.html

I swear I was about to start a thread about this guy.... Panthers offer a late rounder, but I didn't know his contract was that bad and he was not willing to revised. I do know this- He was very near the top on Panthers draft board in 2018, they loooovvvvvveeeed him. Since then lots has changed, he has become super injury-prone and a divia.... Low prove deal, why not....unless he's too cancerous.
-
He's too quiet to be featured on that show. Plus he's a pros pro, they want toxic and headlines sound bites or what Allens uses for hair products. I don't think Shaq is a big swear word user either.
-
I looked it up, Mark Carrier seems to be the guy.......I forgot about him..... Then its the one year wonders like rocket and "chosen(lollols)" etc. Lafell and Samuel had decent 4 years. I swear you can just have one great year or 4 ok ones and you are in the top 10 all-time list..... DANg tommy tremble and Ian "my god" Thomas are in the top 20 with WRs and I don't need to bring up the suckage stat level of them. awful.

Buffalo Bills signing Shaq Thompson
pantherclaw replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Good LB. Better leader. Glad to see him signing with a team that wants him, as long as he wants to continue to play. He is a good addition to their locker room. -
My big question is Pratt is a 4-3 guy and evero is 3-4. Sure there is some overlap and its easier if you are elite. The colts are where everyones money is at about where he will sign. They have his former DC and more money than the Panthers, plus a huge hole at LB.

After that Wallace pick my smart friend turned to me and said " Dan is drafting like he's still playing ".... I thought some and was enough hot about the brooks trade up, that I agreed. ____________________________________________________ The best thing about the WR group- They are very young and have potential. The worst thing about the WR group- They are very young and have potential. When I listed the WR group as positive, I honestly do not know if the group is "fixed" or not. Im not from the future or nothing, but either are other folks. I do feel this- This is the deepest group I can ever recall in Panthers history. I'd say its 10 deep and past years they have struggled to bring 5 decent guys into TC even including the UDFA "superstars ". That's doubled my brother! The huddle is _______ and such, but its treatment of XLs rookie year is among the top 5 WTHs for me. Im old enough to member fantasy football, where it was against the unwritten rules to draft a WR before their 3rd year(rough terms). The trade up to make him a first...... come on it was for a late 6th and well worth the 5th year option. He had foot and hand issues starting in OTAs last year and still played for 500 yards, 4 TDs, and 50 recs. That was with bad BY, Dalton, and 9 games of bama BY..... in a new offense that was still finding itself. He's under contract for the next 4 years at a bargain if you look at current WR salaries. Coker had a similar year and he's under contract for two more years at min. pay. TMAC, was just the best player on the board. It had nothing to do XL. The deal about WRs is you can play 5 on the same play and its very common for many teams to run 3 WRs sets as their base. TMAC, XL, and Coker will be moved alllllll around and play different positions, no one is locked into true X spot. You should see this on game days and even Dave has said this too. The one group this team should know best is WR. Dave and his OC brad were WR coaches before each became OCs. In Dave's case, he logged around 8-10 years there. Then one of the better assistant coaches is none other than Rob Moore. Before he started coaching WRs..back in 2009 he was coming off a borderline HOF career. He's got 35 years experience. Add in Dave and Brad and its nearly 50 years. This is not like OL having proved itself, I am projecting here. *provided bama BY is able to get better, I believe this WR group will have a similar result and hold the good rank for 2-3 years.

Yeah, he is leaps and bounds better than Wallace. But the question then becomes, when do you get Wallace the reps to even attempt to develop? I feel the same way about Pratt as I did Ramsey, it's a short solution for a long term situation.

Just realized we will get to see Shaq on hard knocks now. Great dude excited to see him return especially to a Super Bowl contender.

Our franchise #6 all-time receiver is a RB who suited up in 58 games over the course of 5 seasons. LOL There's two TEs and a RB in that top 6.

Optimistic Analysis of "Sneaky" Panther Roster Development
TheSpecialJuan replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
good stuff -
4th best WR all time.....is probably a title held by Ted Ginn Jr. And tells the story of the Carolina Panthers habitual issue.
-
You forgot the GOAT Bersin.
-
Yeah, Smitty/Moose/Proehl is honestly the only legit high level WR corps we've ever fielded. Smitty is by far and away our GOAT WR, Moose is by far and away the #2, DJ Moore is easily the #3 and from there it just falls off a cliff. KB is the only other guy we've ever had who showed promise that he might be a long-term high level starter.

Buffalo Bills signing Shaq Thompson

Lets hope he can stay healthy. When he was on the field he was very productive. We passed not because he is old or cant do the job but because of injuries. -
Thing with Renfrow is, he didn’t take time off due to a football injury. It’s not like he’s coming back with a bad knee, hip, back or shoulder. He needs conditioning, but if his UC/Chron’s is well controlled, he should be the same guy from a physical perspective. This bodes well.

Hope he has a successful run with them. -
Good for him! We're a couple of years away from being where the Bills are and his years are running out. He can be an asset there and hopefully get a ring before he retires. Best of luck to him, sure enjoyed watching him play here. We were blessed to have him.

Good for Shaq. He gets to play for a contender before his career is over. Hopefully this is their year. -
Im excited to see what Shemar Bartholomew shows in preseason. He didn't give up a single reception last season in preseason with the Jets. 4 teams put in waiver claims last season- we got him due to sucking and being at the top of the waiver wire, so there were a lot of teams interested. He played sparingly last season and didn't do anything really of note, but he has a full year now in the Evero system. Evero as noted is hesitant to play rookies, but now is the time to see what we have. We desperately need another CB to step up and prove they've earned a depth spot on the roster. Mike Jackson did very well all things considered, but upgrading CB should still be a priority

I really thought this was a nice TC story and nothing more... But it sounds like Renfrow has a legit chance to not only make the roster but contribute. Honestly, this is one of the best WR groups we've ever had on paper going into TC. This group has a diverse skill set, and good mix of established veterans and younger players. Other than in 2008/2009 when we had Smitty & Moose as our starters (and both were established All Pros at this point), this is as good of a room as i can remember going into a season. Honestly, if you take Smitty out of the equation, our WR groups overall have been subpar for the most part throughout our history. I'm not crowning this group before they've proved it on the field, but it's hard to not be excited about this group relative to most years. I think McMillan, XL, Coker, Theilen, Horn, Renfrow, and JT Sanders is exponentially better than what Bryce had 2 years ago as a rookie (Chark, Mingo, TMJ, Theilen, Hurst).

Good for everyone involved. Good for shaq getting another chance with a great team. Good for the Bills because they can effectively use vets Good for us because we don't have to complain if we signed him and he underperformed and now we can root for him
