I don't like the line either way tbh.

Sam Darnold can’t throw the ball past the line of scrimmage.
frankw replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
You bumped a thread from 4 years ago about throwing downfield but this isn't about Bryce Young.... -
This. Build both lines through draft. Skill in free agents
-
Priorities ILB - High draft pick and FA signing Edge - Veteran FA signing C - Draft pick or FA. We cannot let our depth at the position return to days of yesteryear with Bryce Young at QB. It will end terribly. TE - FA signing As far as backup QB's go I think we should all prepare for the QB room to be kept largely intact. I don't like it or agree with it but that's the likely outcome.

“In the playoffs” typical Frank reading comprehension issues just so he can post a boomer gif and try to hit you with a gotcha. Now for the incoming paragraph littered with fallacies -

Any “gotcha” you are perceiving is your own insecurity talking. I don’t remember where op stands on Bryce Young, nor do I care. Everybody making this exclusively about Bryce Young is way over defensive…gotta wonder why. I just searched Darnold because I was looking for my own opinions of Darnold at the time we had him because I honestly couldn’t remember everything. Noticed the thread title is the same type of rhetoric we’ve had for years over many different QBs, and pointed out that the QBs have proven at this point it wasn’t just a QB problem. Thought we could have more discussion on what the problem has been outside of the QB because I’m honestly having a hard time pinpointing it since like I said it has been a problem spanning QBs, coaches, GMs, etc. Shoulda known better with this group. -
Did enough for me and the FO obviously to play out year 4

One QB has led teams to 14 wins and 15 wins in consecutive seasons and an actual human being is arguing a QB who was swept by the rebuilding Saints led by a rookie 2nd round pick is more clutch. -
We said this after year 3 as well. I could spoil this for if you.
-
If he dies he dies. Year 4, need to know he can be the guy or not.
-
Bryce is going to die if that happens

Where does the rest of the division sit in cap space vs us? My biggest concern is most free agents are going to view us as a team that was going the complete wrong way the back half of the year. Minus the anomaly of how well we played the Rams, this was a team that wasn't even competitive against good teams (Bills, 49ers, Seahawks), and who lost 3 of 4 to end a season where we had everything to compete for. Tack on that Charlotte isn't a place under 30 year old millionaires view as a destination, vs Atlanta or New Orleans. I think the deck is already stacked against us. I think this will be a very underwhelming free agency period, which means we have to bank on drafting well across almost every round, which we haven't done in 20 years.

That’s a good point. In literally one game he showed he is more clutch in the playoffs than Sam has to date. That could of course change today. -

And he does seem to learn from his mistakes and deals better with crunch time pressure. Not sure if he will ever be elite, but the number of elite qb's is so small, that the odds of getting one are very slim. We are going to give Young at least one more year to see if he is good enough to help the team become a contender. As we should. -
Top 5 draft targets for positions of need
Chief Keek replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
There's no way he watched any Panthers game this season and came away with TE is the biggest need on the team. -
Need a vet edge and ILB. Would be fine going young at either LT or C but not both. That being said, might not have a choice. I think Nijman is our LT next year and C a rookie. Would also take a vet safety IF we keep Evero.

But also, a WR should assume every play can come to them and present themselves as available as possible. He is a veteran and should have seen the open field below him being exposed.

You're going to rile some people up with this one lol. I agree with you, Bryce is nowhere near the physical talent Sam and Baker are with muscling a ball when it needs to be done, but he has shown over and over and over he can throw downfield. -

frankw replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Also. For all the criticism of Teddy Bridgewater being a checkdown king and rarely throwing downfield he was 15th in yards per attempt the one season he played here. Compare that to Bryce who just finished the season 30th in yards per attempt. -
Top 5 draft targets for positions of need
Hoenheim replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't get this love affair with the tight end from Oregon. Get an OT or LB or Pass rusher. Nothing else really makes sense where we're going to be picking We already have solid TEs and Sadiq isn't some generational TE prospect. Even if he was, there's a decent change for him being not successful or being mid at best (See Kyle Pitts, OJ Howard). -

lol @ bumping this thread thinking it's some kind of gotcha. Nobody ever doubted Darnold's physical abilities as a passer. Legitimately that throw that Sam Darnold made from his own end zone at the end of the game against the Vikings to Ian Thomas of all people is as good or better than any throw Bryce Young has made in his career so far. - Today

Championship Round Playoff Thread

Money continuing to pour in on Denver. Line shifted from +5.5 to +3.5 in about 10 hours. -
I think its imperative to bring in another vet and draft someone 3/4/5 round range, depends who falls and from Morgans comments it appears they will

REPORT: Cade Mays will hit the free-agent market
45catfan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's not a generality, that's this draft in particular. I would like to draft a second or third round center, I just feel this isn't the one to do it. Mayes was 5th rounder and some are acting like he's too valuable to lose. We have two 5th rounders this daft, take one there if the right guy is available. Edge, LB,S, CB, WR(S) are much bigger concerns with the talent in this draft to fill an immediate need.
