Why trading up in 2026 is a bad idea.
panfanman replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
If you had a crystal ball you wouldn't even need your 1st round pick. Crystal balls come in more handy for later round gems. Imagine trading away a 1st for several 2nds and 3rds and picking up multiple all pros and HOFers instead of just one. -
Dan Morgan: “We’ll explore signing Bradley Chubb”
TheSpecialJuan replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
"I wouldn’t read too much into [Dan] Morgan’s comments about [Bradley] Chubb, the fifth pick in 2018 who turns 30 this summer and is just two years removed from ACL surgery. Is Chubb a possibility for the Panthers? Sure. But the sense here is he’s not the top option." - Joe Person, The Athletic -
Morgan is also slow to announce restructures/releases. We probably won’t have a real idea on cap space until Saturday or Sunday. Hell maybe not even until Wednesday after the tampering period has already started. The first Free Agents the last two years we signed were: Robert Hunt Trevon Moehrig So we will see who will be first this year around noon on Monday.

Idk. I used to like Sadiq. The more I watch him the more he feels like a bust. I would be fine with going TE in Round 2 or 3 or even Free Agency since it’s deep this year. I really think we need to go Defense or Tackle in the 1st.

3 years in a row spending a 1st round pick on a receiver is 2000s Detroit Lions kind of roster building. No thanks.

Having a strong feeling, tulsky is gonna make a move for a strong second Center like Thomas and Boom could be a part of the package. If that happens, I could very much see the canes going back after Dougie Hamilton, or another defenseman as well.

Just because and to keep us organized

This draft is deep at receiver...we can afford to wait.
-
Last tackle we drafted there were different people in charge. May or may not make a difference.
-
Id rather sign a vet at TE

I'm just not sold on us being highly interested in Fano. We seem to prefer big mauler type OL and Fano is the opposite. -

Trading up on for anything, for me it would be the right LOT. But my hard and fast rule for 30 years has been never trade a future 1st. So not in favor. -

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2026/story/_/id/48053564/2026-nfl-mock-draft-two-rounds-64-picks-jordan-reid-combine Jordan Reid is pretty locked in and an expert that I trust more than others. Pretty sensible and logical with his thoughts, and the rumors he hears quite often, are not click bait. I was intrigued by the buzz about the Panthers at the combine. Chubb? Thibodeaux? Hendrickson? If Fano falls, run the card up. I don't care about arm length with the production and versatility as a LT or RT (see: Slater, Rashawn). He then comes back with a rush LB though, which is odd given the first statement about preferring to address in FA/trade.... Only guy I'd look at based on the way the board fell here, is Wheatley. TBF, Thomas is probably more of a BPA over Wheatley. Hill, Jr. goes 46 and Rodriguez went 49th. This reminds me too much of the '23 draft when we thought our guy would be there and we settled for DJ. -
Would kenyon sadiq fill 2 needs?
PleaseCutStewart replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
At least Davis had an excuse being stuck on a crappy Maryland team that played a generic pro style offense (and still got 300 more yards than Sadiq in 3 less games). Oregon had a Heisman caliber QB throwing him the ball + an Oregon scheme that is very offense friendly. But agree that Davis had similar concerns going into the draft with his route running ability. That being said, Davis was a far more established blocker going into the draft than Sadiq. -

If we in a situation where we have to BPA or really reach for a guy we like… it is a tough call. I’ll be honest, a big part of my resistance is I have just had enough of investing the high draft picks in weapons for Bryce. To me, we have the OROY at WR, we have Coker who gave us all we need out of WR 2 in the WC game. Get someone to compliment that - outside the first round and same for 2nd unless it is just a no brainer. A speed guy for number 3 WR, and if there still is such a thing I think a back that can catch, and do short yardage would match up very nicely to what we need and how the QB plays. I keep thinking of Mike Tolbert when we first got him. -

I think Jones becomes a cat casualty but by all means I love goldday I have him and Rodriguez's second round targets in my eyes first round I'm swinging for the fences on talent -

By trade down I meant move up in the draft to 10 or so. Trading back to the 20's would be fine by me. -

I won’t lie. I don’t want us to trade any future picks, because I feel we’ll have to go QB in 27. Need to stay put. We have too many needs -

Take the 19, make a smart pick for a foundational player. 38 and beyond, see what it's worth to people.
