Dave and really Rhule.....were both billed as motivators. But they seem to be on the lite side of that spectrum. Rhule was more buffoon. Dave seems more buttoned up optimist than really your inspirational motivator (but I'm not sure that is really a NFL thing). The inspirational motivator is really more a college thing and one that might largely pre-date NIL IMO.

what else is a coach supposed to say about his quarterback? I think that's largely just a coach that accepts his QB isn't a barker. They are still going to talk glowingly about one that plays well or that they are heavily invested in.

he sounds weird. maybe ask him for his hotmail address and we can send him some more detailed info.

well, I mean, we could just close the doors.. But yeah, developing our young players is what teams do. This is the window where dudes like AT get cut for the young dudes to take over on other teams. AT is vastly overrated IMO. It's just volume and fantasy stats. He is out there doing small TE work in a position we need a lot more out of. If BY fails, it's not because AT isn't on the field in 2025. The BY pick is just a failure. And this is the season/time for that to be answered IMO.
-
it's year 3 for Bryce. So yeah, I just wany my young WRs hogging reps. Not AT. We are at the stage now where it's about focusing on others not named Bryce. If Bryce can't do it in year 3 and keep growing with a cast he is largely very familiar with (and that is minus AT).....then it's just a BY issue.

Post- Training Camp 53-Man Roster Projection
Seltzer replied to Seltzer's topic in Carolina Panthers
Also, the more Oline injuries around the league makes me think the Panthers are both fielding calls about potential trades, and I also think this increases the chance the Panthers keep a 10th offensive linemen. Could be a trade piece. Regardless, Oline depth around the league is abysmal, and this is hopefully going to be a strength for this team. Personally, I would be ecstatic if we could trade our 10th Olinemen for ILB or S depth -
Post- Training Camp 53-Man Roster Projection
Seltzer replied to Seltzer's topic in Carolina Panthers
It will be interesting to see how playing time is split tomorrow night. Bartholomew has been running with Thornton & the 2nd unit. Evans has been with the 3s. But, he does have significantly more starting & playing experience. I also think Mike Reid could make the 53 (or a waiver claim) as the backup nickel behind Chau Smith-Wade since most of the CBs project more as outside CBs. IMO, Jaycee, Mike Jack, CSW, & Thornton are locks. The final spot(s) will be interesting. I think there is also a decent possibility we bring in a veteran CB after Week 1 (salary not guaranteed). -
They lost Will Clapp (one of their top reserve Olinemen for the year). I think one of their starters might miss Week 1. Tristan Wirfs is going to miss a few games for the Bucs to start the season. We need a fast start, and hopefully good luck on the injury front after several years with bad luck.

We don't have an 8th in 2028. That is the last remaining pick we owe Chicago for the Bryce Young deal. -

He mentioned the Panthers would be receiving a conditional 8th round draft choice in the 2028 NFL draft -
I feel the same way but I might be thinking Saints, they've had some OL injuries as well

Happened last offseason too. It's just part of it. Hell, we had CMC, Donte Jackson and D. Brown all basically have that happen after inking big deals.

I asked a 20something at the office if they knew what a Compuserve, AOL or NetZero trial CD was last week. Blank stare. - Today

Damn... Might just be due to it happening to Slater and now McGary but it feels like there was another player or two that just signed extensions and have already suffered significant injuries.
-
fug em. If I had to watch this team trot out David Foucault and Nate Chandler as the starting tackles in a nationally televised game I have no sympathy for any other team in the league. They can figure it out.

Legette still focusing on drops per David Newton
Panthers Fan 69 replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
Never understood how someone was so good at cooking raccoons was so bad at catching a football. Doesn’t make sense… I also think cucumbers taste better pickled. But that’s neither here nor there. -
Legette still focusing on drops per David Newton
MHS831 replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not just a drop--but his drops were game enders, it seemed. Maybe only 1 or 2, but that makes it tough. I really pull for XL, but did not like the pick. I wanted Ladd, but we needed a potential #1 to groom. Ladd was second fiddle to a TE, but I liked his ability to play 10-12 years at a high level. -
Falcons RT MCGary carted off, don't know how bad it is yet, but bad enough for the cart being brought out. Penix is left handed, so he just lost his blind side protector. Falcons fans bemoaning their tackle depth (who doesn't).

And your young QB has a laundry list of major injuries during college football. Oh wee mayne...

Falcons OT Storm Norton underwent ankle surgery Tuesday and is now expected to miss 6-8 weeks, per source. Then today offensive tackle Kaleb McGary and was carted off with a leg injury that necessitated an MRI. https://x.com/adamschefter/status/1958229239586488337?s=46

The Panthers have an effort problem
KaseKlosed replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
From a fans perspective I believe Dave leads more as a coordinator. He is super involved with being a QB guru. However showing an early doubt in the QB you are supposed to develop here can come off as if you are still green as a coach. In his other roles he couldn't change the QB as he went which made him focus on the teams chosen QB to develop and not giving away reps to others. Yes he gives off the energy to us as a positive type coach yet his lack of involvement on motivating the entire team shows on the field. We had more success with general type coaches who demanded player accountability but also encouraged them to be themselves and to play within their personality on the field without forgetting the basics. The team also needs field generals out there. Dave's speeches dont really motivate and I know he means well but man he is boring as a coach. -
