Evero was setup to fail by design last year and then took the DB hit on top of that. I don’t love Evero but it’a far more on the front office than DC in terms of what happened last year. and the Carolina O was 31st in time of possession in addition to all that

If he has another good season, we're probably not going to get out of it, as that's just the nature of the beast. The salary cap goes up and salaries go up. Maybe we won't have to pay him that high, but it will most certainly be in the neighborhood. As his season goes, so will his salary (provided that the two sides won't come together now (if there's anything even going on). https://catcrave.com/panthers-insider-sets-steep-ikem-ekwonu-extension-price-despite-rocky-nfl-ride

I mean, I think you will really struggle to find many prognosticators that don't have us in the bottom 5. Part of it is that we do have a bottom 5 overall roster(still true) and part of it is that we have more question marks than most rosters. Finally, we have consistently been a bottom 10 team for close to a decade now. Nothing is really a safer offseason projection that putting us there.

Dean Jones, the resident writer for Cat Crave, thinks that we should consider signing Noah Fant. Jones titles his article: Panthers quietly handed perfect fix for overlooked flaw at just the right time He calls the TE position an "overlooked flaw," and even though I wouldn't necessarily go as far as that, I do believe that the Panthers would instantly buttress the position with a Fant signing. The Panthers just may throw out feelers, and there are connections. "Fant played for Panthers' tight ends coach Pat McPherson for two seasons. He was also in Seattle with head coach Dave Canales and offensive coordinator Brad Idzik in 2022. This also happens to be a position group that is dangerously short of dependable options." I guess it comes down to whether or not the Panthers believe that our guys can be the real deal, or at least fill the need that Canales and company have for this offense. I have been skeptical of the lack of TE involvement in the regular flow of the offense since Canales has taken over, but it may be because of the lack of legit and/or experienced personnel. Fant hasn't been spectacular. He is an apt move-TE though. He is a so-so middle of the pack-ish pass blocker. His run blocking grades leave a lot to be desired (save for one year). I guess that I could see it, but I just don't know if Fant moves the needle enough to spend the extra money on him. For a first rounder, he's been kind of a bust in my opinion. He's still NFL-worthy, and he's still in the prime of his career. But, I think I'm more in disagreement with Jones about thinking Fant is the "perfect fix." He just may be a more expensive, albeit more experienced, option than we already have. https://catcrave.com/panthers-quietly-handed-perfect-fix-for-overlooked-flaw-just-right-time

At least Denver (which seems to be a well ran team) let him go originally.

My issue really isn't about Dalton's phsyical ability at this point. Although it should be noted the fact we've had to bring him in for a hail mary attempt is comical. As far as teaching Bryce the basics of carrying himself as a QB that's fine. However that should be pretty well wrapped up by now in year 3. In the decision making department though...ehhhh. I'd rather not see much of Dalton rubbing off on Bryce Young all homerism aside. There was some discussion about dropping a mid or late rounder on a QB but it didn’t come to fruition and maybe it was for the best. Some people viewed it as either an unnecessary use of resources or not helpful to Bryce's comfortability. There was validity to either viewpoint. But someone has to be right and someone has to be wrong. We'll just have to revisit this in the fall. Hopefully the offense is developing and it's not something that will be a relevant subject. But as we know with our Panthers it's usually not that cut and dry. But I'm going to try and have faith in Canales and company until they give me reason not to.

One of them can, one of them seems to be the problem with team attitude and everyone always being hurt/soft. Really hoping LaMelo can "be trying now" all season this year.

I'm bummed about losing PJ Hall. I hope he doesn't come to make us regret that. But this is the Hornets we're talking about.

LOL, just gets more murky every minute Just heard on the radio that Stewart’s agent has only one other 1st round client, Zay Flowers last year, who did NOT have this language in his contract. So guess it’s not EVERY other team who does this and the agent has history of not having it included, hence their stubbornness. So now was the Bengals president lying in this article? poo just gets crazier and less clear by the minute haha

Thanks for keeping us up-2-date on the ALL the Panthers news like you always have in past years!

You recall BY games at seasons start and 2023?? He was the worst QB in the league. Dalton came in guns brazzlin and showed BY you got to throw the ball. Dalton played great those first two. If you wait for college open, you will struggle. All Im doing is telling you the Backup group is hella bad. The best you can hope is for the 2-4 games your backup doesn't lose you games. Dalton did that. Plus he is in the of hall of very good with his career stats. He's still throwing on a NFL level, while those who cannot start podcasting with the hopes of landing guest star CMCs mom..... I thought for sure Lock would have been a Panthers, but Daltons friendship with BY overruled that. Im glad Dalton is the Panthers backup for 2 years at 8 million. You can do A LOT worst than Dalton as the backup. Yea we need the TC to start and drop the lol backup QB talk... Last fact, I was ALLLLL for drafting sanders in the 4th round...........

Exactly If no 1st rounders ever had those clauses, then it’s not about not signing a contract that puts your money at risk if you do something stupid, it’s about not signing a contract that nobody else has been asked to sign. But now knowing it’s just that he’d be the first Bengal to have to sign that kind of deal, just because they were dumb to not include it earlier when EVERY other team has now been including them, the blame now shifts back to Stewart’s camp and is a really bad look. Sure, the agent is right to ask to not have it included based on Bengals precedent, but once the team really put their foot in the ground, you just have to cave since it’s the league wide precedent now.

Ill quote you in my simple report. The best player for the hornets was Simpson. If hornets....by some miracle stay healthy, Simpson will get 0 minutes on the season OR 2-3 minutes in a 50 point barn burner. That's summer league for you. Kon, much better with the ball, better passer, better deep 3 shooter, and bigger body than I thought. He never got a matchup with a decent NBAer player. He did look slow and to borrow a video game term- laggy at times trying to defend players that will never get NBA minutes. He's got to figure out how to defend with his limitations. Im not sure he will get over 15 minutes at the seasons start, just depends on the comments before this. The type of system will be important. If Kon is unable to guard players, they will iso him to death and destroy his confidence. It's starts all over for Kon. He picked up the slack for Simpson fading and was the tourney MVP. Sims scored the win the game before and Kalk had his best game at the end too. Maybe maybe maybe, these rookies will change the hornets for the better. My opinion- check back on Kon when the all-star break happens. He's 19 and repeat that until the ears hurt. I hope he's able to keep his confidence level high, the NBA will humble everyone. Lequeen James got drunk on every practice until he got better.

Ultimately I think this boils down to a difference in personal perception of the situation. And also simple rationalizing because it's still July. I mean let's go back to Cam's rookie season. Anderson was 28. Clausen was still on the roster he was 24. We've basically had Tommy Pickles and his Grandpa Lou Pickles at QB 1 and QB 2 and people are coming at me like I'm unreasonable. Which amuses me. I hope we can at least agree a thumb sprain (lol) was just an excuse to get Andy back on the bench.

Joe Person @josephperson The Panthers had 14 players in for tryouts today. No punters; three tight ends, including former Seahawk Tyler Mabry. Possible they sign one of the tryout players this week, but most likely brought in as possible injury replacements down the road.

I saw it Saturday night. A little slow for the first 30-45 minutes, but then it really picked up. The Dog was the best part imo.

I know he faded hard, but the first couple games was the red rifle. Honestly he didn't lose the job, it was a car wreck that hurt his thumbs. Bro nearly all backups got major flaws, much more that Dalton. These QBs have found something to prolong careers, many are playing into late 30s. Arod is the oldest player in the league now, I think. Wilson is still getting jobs.
