This play is when I knew we actually hit on our #8 pick. Granted, I was high on him already based on what I'd seen, but that got me excited.

The Jags 1st year head coach made Canales look like a clueless moron.

The only thing that is annoying about this is these nerds envision a perfect world where data is perfect and results are perfect and everything is so perfect. THAT WORLD DOESNT EXIST. Things go wrong! Did Bryce's teammates let him down a few times, YES! He can shoulder plenty of the blame though as well.

Canales must be really kicking himself right now not going to the mat to upgrade the backup starting spot. Dalton looks completely washed at this point. If we had a better backup you'd be more tempted to give Bryce the hook.

Because I still think Canales can be a good coach. We got to see what his offense is like when Dalton came in last year. I think getting a chance to to pick his own QB is something that should happen. Dude is only a second year HC. He isn’t like Reich who was a seasoned vet coach so there was no excuse for the team being as bad in 2023.

Exactly… this fanbase never learns. We must fully reset… for the past 8 years we never fully reset and the fans seems to enjoy the 50 shades of NFL.

The Jags knew everything Canales was going to do. Canales looked lost and as confused as his qb and team. It was an embarrassment of a showing for the entire team. Canales had no answers for anything. He can't even control his own DC.

Ngl, Smitty’s about face was surprising. I always suspected there was no way he wasn’t hitting jump offs all them years of being a NFL star, but then there were those moments - like where he almost fought Michael Irvin on-air for insulting the suit that his wife picked out for him… so I was like, idk, maybe there is a line he doesn’t play about. Then the stuff came out about the Ravens band lady, and it’s wild… ever since that stuff came out, his posts and whole attitude are completely different. It’s like he is relieved and free.

I mean, when it's Bryce throwing the ball managing 5 catches for 68 yards is pretty impressive.

why would you let that 3rd season play out like that.......let what by all accounts is a bad coach use your first round pick on a QB he wants in year 3(or Tepper).....and then immediately fire him? You then force the Canales QB on the next coach. Cycle repeats. Canales had his chance to move on from Bryce Young. It was last year when they buried him.

I think its too early to tell what happens with the staff. Obviously im not speaking of evero with that statement. I think whether or not we clean house will become clearer as the season goes on. Canales still needs to improve as a coach and playcaller. We will see how he navigates this season. He did improve some over the course of last season but he isn't a top 20 HC as of right now. Probably not even top 25.

He has chosen 3 and has no option behind Young this year. His coaching alone is enough to justify a firing if it keeps going the way it's going again. No need for a year 3 where he gets fired mid way for being who he was in year 1 and 2. That's like saying Evero deserved a year 3 after last year. It makes no sense logic wise. Plus he chose Young when he signed up for this while others walked.

That ball landed in the third row of the stands. If trying to paint that as a communication and a "missed throw" is the best defense there is no defense. XL would've literally had to have been over 10' tall with a kangaroo's vertical to attempt to make a play on that. And even then, go back and watch. The ball still wasn't at the back pylon. It went through the side of the endzone. Even the manufactured excuse doesn't line up.

Under Tepper they need to be well adjusted and not sycophants or the worst comes out. Wasn't that the year the staff went knives out?

If we redid that an took an RB give me Bucky Irving (with a side bonus that it takes him away from our divsion).

I’m not…. Dan Morgan is a GM last time I checked, not Tepper. Manager should be talking to his employees, not managers manager. When big boss talks to you, overstepping your manager, that’s either means your big boss don’t trust your manager or he’s meddling and sticks his nose into everything. You pick.

I think Canales is safe no matter what. If he gets to select his own QB and he sucks next season that may be all she wrote. Evero should have been fired last season. I think Tepper has given Canales a long rope.

WR not WRs. Sorry I should have said XL. I was tired when I wrote this. Renfrow and T-Max were fine. I don’t blame Renfrow for not catching the hospital balls and T-Max was playing his heart out trying to catch difficult passes.

Do we really need 7 pages of love for a receiver who had 5 catches for 68 yards? We're there flashes and positives? Definitely. Were there mistakes and things he messed up on, yep. The known strengths were on display as were the known question marks. I will be interested to see how he looks matched up against a good physical corner. In the end it was a positive debut that showed flashes though.

As long as Tepper is the owner, the team is doomed to be below mediocre. He got rid of Steve Wilks because he was an alpha male. He only wants yes men, choir boys, and people that fit a certain profile. He refuses to let others lead. He is doomed to fail.

Some folks would tell you it's okay to have someone psycho on your team as long as they're good at what they do. My response is typically to apply that concept to a marriage and see if you still think it's a good idea

No I don’t think so. We will show some signs of life I believe. It wouldn’t help anything, would rather keep a few of the same faces around for the rebuild. Also, it’s Week 1 people.
