Maybe we beat the Saints? but if you acknowledge the weirdness Bryce has with Atlanta…..you sort of have to acknowledge the Saints have him figured out as well as anyone. He is horrific vs the Saints
-
And it probably won’t be either. It all goes to the QB question and our future, long term, for me. Over whether we get the honor of being Cinderella one and done.

Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?
Martin replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
That was my reaction too. He hasn’t looked great this year, but the situation around him sounds terrible. If you draft him and allow him to sit for a year or two, the upside is very high. Sure there is risk involved, but such upside. -
Make believe and wild speculation.
-
How is that calculated?

It will be whatever it will be. We could very well go out and lose every single game down the stretch, we could go out and win every game too.

How many Qbs can you name better than Bryce Young?
CRA replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Some teams employ multiple. Take the Bengals. Today, Burrow and Flacco are better. the burden here is really on the Bryce hypers. -
I think in light of the timing of that OL upgrade I must overlook it. It wasn’t like the situation allowed a better planned upgrade that would involve developing players, at least according to ownership’s priority on making Bryce work NOW. They didn’t have time to build it the right way, and you have to overpay to get top guys on a 2-15 team. It wasn’t ideal, no. The Moton thing I look at in a vacuum. Apart from the interior guys. I have a vague notion of a ridiculous cap situation leading to the ridiculous extension. Got my speed throttled on the phone here and over the cap.com didn’t want to load so I didn’t look it up. Bit after watching Nijman in some games last year I would not (have) felt good at all about no Moton. This is all resulting from the urgency or impatience or whatever you call it around removing the excuses for Bryce. You would hope that with a more settled situation there the building and maintaining of the roster could be addressed using a less extreme approach.

CRA replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Can’t be 20 better? Thats child’s play. Bryce Young is not in the top 20 today Only way you could invent an argument there aren’t is if you start talking contracts, age and basically future/building scenarios and start knocking guys with no real future off -
I agree it is more about the OL. If you happen to have a world beater with a great OL then that’s better obviously but you don’t need to have that. Capable and durable guys that can get to the second level with good blocking can be plenty.

I think Gibbs is special, but you’re right, some of the top investments have proven to not be much different than some 2nds and 3rds. Taylor for example is on an MVP level season. James Cook is doing better than Breece Hall for example. Raiders weren’t in a good spot to draft Jeanty. Same with the Falcons/Bijan. You gotta swing at the right time — the investment shouldn’t come too early. You almost have to stumble into a guy mid to late rounds while building or find that guy to put you over the top when the team is finally well rounded.

ESPN’s Benjamin Solak on Panthers LT
SmokinwithWilly replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Like I said in another post yesterday, the handling of the offensive line by Fitterer and mostly Morgan has been crazy. We've spent way too much money(Lewis and Hunt) to keep Bryce upright instead of using our picks in the 2nd round on JPJ and Frazier. Could have kept an injured Corbett at guard, Brady at swing, and still taken Maye as a backup, sorry Zavala. We wouldn't have taken XL, but XL hasn't been as advertised anyway, and Brooks hasn't contributed anything. Moton's extension with it's signing bonus made him uncutable. Icky's contract was due at the same time Bryce's 3rd year ended, and we all know it's extension or 5th year, and if we're going to do a 5th year, he's going to want the extension. To me the whole thing is just ridiculous. Right now, depending on if Tepper decides to keep Bryce, it feels like we're going to have to choose between Icky and a Bryce extension. Maybe he plays on the 5th year, but I think he'll want the big money guarantee. JMO, but if you took a look at how the contracts could potentially fall, the writing was on the wall that this could be a cash flow nightmare. Too many contract guarantees, not enough rookie contracts to offset the upcoming paydays. -
A question no one is asking about Bryce and The Panthers
CRA replied to Day1PanthersFan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, if Carolina wanted to trade him…..you start telling them where you would be willing to go. seems that’s how it went down. We wanted to deal him for the tank job (that failed)…..and he selected where he would go. -
Precisely. It’s why some teams are fine with the committees and they work out great. Others feel like they’ve found “a guy” but that’s where I caution us to jump too quickly to a conclusion just because of a few games.

How many Qbs can you name better than Bryce Young?
strato replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Depends what week it is. On very rare occasions it is maybe 7 or 8 tops but most weeks it is 20 to 25 ans some weeks it is about 30. -
Definitely not warrented. He struggled his first season but you can attribute some of that to who was playing next to him. He's definitely better in the run game and gotten better a PassPro. IMO worth keeping for a career.

Perfect analogy. Great Movie BTW seen it several times. One of my favorite movies.

How many Qbs can you name better than Bryce Young?
d-dave replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Honestly, probably several. But the bigger issue is can Bryce finally break his own ceiling? Last Sunday was an incredible game. We can't expect that level of incredible, but we'd like to see consistency. If Bryce can add a solid game this week, that's a good first step. I saw an interesting video from Brett Kollmann (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABoLgCdTgZc if you're interested) about the perils of pulling support to quickly on coaches, QBs and staffs in the NFL. I still think we ride the Bryce train in 2026, add legit competition from FA, and see what kind of guy he's going to be. Bryce can't be a week 10-17+ QB. He's got to be more consistent on a game to game basis. I hope we can see that soon. You can absolutely count a pretty high number of "better qbs" but you'd also have to compare their situation. -
Nice compliment, but is "total bust" warranted?
-
I don't think you absolutely have to have a "world beater" if you have a stellar offensive line. Not against fishing for a guy like that but a two back rotation behind a good set of uglies can work just as well.

Young wins NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Not bad, honestly -
underrated part of games against west coast teams is they tend to struggle with 1pm east coast games
