ESPN sim: Cam re-signs for 1 yr, Pickett #6
Smithers replied to MechaZain's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’m talking more about how everyone here seems to know whether or not a rookie QB will be a bust or not. -

NFL teams really should be scouting this forum for potential additions to their scouting department. So many qualified experts… -
Worst Kept Secret at the Senior bowl (Panthers Interest in Pickett)
Smithers replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
We actually have plenty of cap space available. Over 100 million next year. Plenty of way to work a contract to avoid a big hit this year. I have zero doubt we are going to be active in FA along the OL. And there is plenty of talent hitting the market. Remember, we may be able to get away with signing a top G and C and rolling with BC at LT and Brown at RG. -
Worst Kept Secret at the Senior bowl (Panthers Interest in Pickett)

Huddle - we must draft a QB and take a chance on hitting on a prospect Huddle 1 year later - it’s stupid to draft a QB with our top 10 pick I have no issues taking Pickett if we address the OL in free agency. Sign a C and OG/OT, lean on BC and Brown, and grab a QB to generate some dang excitement. -
The Rams will be the away team in their stadium

Pretty sure the Bucs were the visiting team also in their stadium last year. -
Yeah. All these articles about Rhule have been “anonymous sources.” Yet most of our players have come out on record in defense of Rhule. Something doesn’t add up.

Eli Apple is scum. He has a beef everywhere he goes. I honestly don’t take any report seriously about him

Pickett skipped Hand Measurement part of Senior bowl!!

I’m gonna laugh if Rhule drafts Pickett and his small hands after sitting BC all year due to his small arms -

This wouldn’t have happened had McDermott used a DBO sign during training camp. Discipline!!!!

Trading Back-What could we get for the #6 pick? Is it worth it?
Smithers replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
So much depends on FA. If we manage to shore up a couple spots of the OL in free agency, then for sure trade back into the teens and recoup a 2nd and 3rd. -
BC offers flexibility. LTs are hard to come by. Draft one and move BC to LG. BC is then your backup LT if an injury occurs.

He’s got 13 years of NFL special teams coaching experience. Better than we had -

QBs that are left in the playoffs by draft status.
Smithers replied to Varking's topic in Carolina Panthers
Without a doubt. Really can’t read into this kinda stuff much. Interesting info though -
QBs that are left in the playoffs by draft status.
Smithers replied to Varking's topic in Carolina Panthers
Good info. But…it’s also worth noting that there are a lot of first round QBs sitting home right now. Lamar Jackson, Lawrence, Herbert, Wentz, Goff, Ryan, Darnold, Mayfield, Tua, Jones, etc. -
Oh well. He can at least say he fielded a top 10 offense as OC and took his team to the playoffs in year 1 as HC. Not my first choice but better than Montgomery

I feel like Joe is wrong on a lot of this. 1. Gilmore will likely be retained and Jackson walks. Gilmore will be fine with a 2-3 year deal and can mentor Horn and Henderson. Jackson will want a 4-5 year deal and someone will overpay for him. 2. Reddick will re-sign. No way Rhule let’s a Temple guy walk, especially when Reddick said he wants to be here. 3. cap space - not as big a deal as Joe makes it seem. We have an insane amount of cap room next year. Contracts will simply be backloaded to allow us to spend at will this off-season. Look for us to go after OL and MLB aggressively.
