Roberts may not beat out Shi Smith for return man. Shi has look outstanding at PR/KR in preseason. Roberts is 34 with a much higher salary than Newsome who is only 23. Newsome will pick up on a PS somewhere.

And of course the talking heads are ALWAYS correct. He may be a good QB but IMO he isn't ready to take over QB1. Absolutely. From what I have seen he is ready to take off at the slightest amount of pressure. If he does start this year you can bet some great coverage schemes and well as some exotic blitzes to get him to run. I am sure he'll have a couple of highlight reel runs but sooner or later it will hurt him.

OK that's an opinion, but I suspect that if Tannehill falters you will see Willis make his 1st read and run afterward. The guy IMO has a way to go before he's ready to be QB1.

As much as I dislike Payton, Brees is a HOF QB for a reason. The guy seemed to always make the right play.

Those are pretty good numbers but Willis is no where near ready to run an offense. Too often he is looking to run. I've been able to see him in his preseason games thanks to AFN and he'r a runner first. Too many times he is looking to run. I think Ridder is looking the best out of the rookies. Fortunately for him he was given plenty of Reps and it shows. Our rookie was given the opposite.

Had some good carries and then some zero yard plays but he just moves faster and I hope he sticks.

Drives me crazy with running backs Some are so interested in finding that hole they forget to run. You don't need to break a home run on every run. Following the blocking and get some yardage even as you say a couple inches or feet.

I like Hubbard but Lovett is like lightning in a bottle. He moves so quickly that he's hitting the hole before it closes. If I had to choose I'd take Lovett.

That's a nice list. Several teams are going to have to decide whether they want the cap hit or the player. I don't see many of these players getting traded.

I know that we aren't shopping for a WR but if Lance McCutcheon is cut by the Rams we need to pounce on him ASAP. This guy is a beast and the Rams are already loaded at WR.

I don't think any HC are going to get cut, but nice try.

With McCall seeming to be much better than anticipated our DT group while not stellar is solid. OL you have to be very cautious because that O-lineman was the 10th best player on that team. Probably not better than what we already have. He would have to be a long time Vet that is looking to play one or two more years. Or a rookie that has all the tools just needs more work. LB we're good DBs solid. I'm not sure we go after anyone. Thoughts

When a team shuts out another team in preseason. That's pretty impressive. Considering by the time you get to the 4th QTR teams are playing their 3rd and 4th strings. Usually somewhere in there both teams score at least once.

Smith had all the tools for a good LBer. It appears some good coaching was all he needed. It's sweet when a 4th round project pick starts to show he belongs before the end of his first preseason.

I think you might see Barnes or Hayes beat STO out. Also I think because Tecklenburg can play multiple positions he might make it. I do hope we pick up a couple of O-line vets.

I think the biggest part of this is we have RECEIVED calls about him. Not that we are shopping him. Maybe we get a good LB or DT in return.

True. Win the games we should win and win our division and we'll be in good shape. Baker doesn't have to be Burrow. He just has to run this team with confidence (something Sam never did) and get the ball to his playmakers. We have quite a few of them. The defense needs to stay healthy and the front office should be on the prowl for players that can shore up a group that needs it.

Like I said. That is what makes the NFL so great. The Cap makes teams lose players they can't afford and other team the chance to bring in new players. If you bring in the right players and draft well and every team (the majority) believe that they can compete. Barring major injuries and a couple of breaks you can will it all.

Being optimistic is having the belief that if things go right we could make the playoffs. We have studs on both sides of the ball and our team can cause problems for anyone. Barring injury and bad play calling this team could make the playoff. Once in the playoffs it's game on. Being realistic (pessimistic) is basing everything you know off of last season. Every team in the NFL changes and though some teams reload some may actually be worse than the previous season. They were still a playoff team so a realistic (pessimistic) as I like to call them. Says we are 100% going to lose because they were a playoff or Super Bowl team. That mentality is just as bad as being optimistic. The NFL is probably the best sport that every new season is a chance to make the playoffs. Pick up the right free agents, draft well and get a couple of breaks. 2003 Carolina Panthers are a prime example. WE got a couple of breaks, stayed healthy and played good football. No one had us going to the Super Bowl at the beginning of 2003. Not with Rodney Peete at the helm. Another example of my point is AFC Champions Cincinnati Bengals. They were +15000 to go to the Super Bowl at the start of the 2021 preseason. Based on the realistic (pessimistic) person they should have never been there because Vegas said so. It comes down to what kind of fan you are. I have always been and will always be optimistic right up to the game where we are mathematically eliminated. Take 2004 (i believe) injuries destroyed our season. Yet Carolina battled all season and it came down to the last week where we could have made the playoffs. A pessimistic fan (and there were plenty) gave up when we started so poorly. It depends on who you are. Pessimistic or Optimistic. Neither is right nor neither is wrong. I AM 100% Optimistic

As much as I would love to see him released. If he has eligibility I'd rather see him on the PS as an emergency. Than again, if we have to resort to PJ our season is toast and so is Rhule.

Well it's about time. It was clear as day that Mayfield was the best QB on the roster. Had we had a normal preseason and our QB room was Mayfield, Darnold, Corral and PJ bringing up the rear. We could have given the rookie a little more Reps. But No, we had to play this charade that Darnold was equal to Baker.

If we stay healthy our starting line up is quite good. Offensively, CMC has to stay healthy. Mayfield is only going to get better as he learns this offense. Defensively if our DL can stop the run our DBs are going to reinvent "Thieves Avenue" And Rhule needs to let McAdoo and Snow run the team and just stay out of their way. Sadly, I don't see that happening.
