No, they just need to commit to running the ball and keep Reich’s fancy passing plays on the shelf until the team develops more
-
I can already tell you what the problem I with the offense is going to be all season. It’s going to be Frank Reich wanting to get cute with fancy passing plays that aren’t appropriate for the personnel or called at poor times during games. That knock has followed Reich everywhere he’s been. With a rookie QB and a team returning 4 out of 5 starters on an OL that proved they can open up huge holes in the running game, they have to lean on the running game and use play action and RPOs. They honestly need to take the ball out of Bryce’s hands as much as possible. I don’t care how much smoke the team blows up our asses about how far ahead with the playbook Bryce is, if the OL can kick ass in the running game, run the f*cking ball.

Corral finally showing something. OL looks better than last week

The problem is the team actually made some progress at the end of last season for the first time in what feels like forever and to come out like this with the money and experience put into the coaching staff is quite surprising. It’s still preseason so hopefully this is just a motivation thing from the starters but the backups look like ass too so that’s definitely not good.
-
It’s preseason so I’m not in panic mode and I’m trying not to really give a sh*t how this team does but I’m really surprised to see how much worse this team seems to have gotten despite a major upgrade in coaching experience.
-
Not “showing anything in preseason” is f*cking stupid. It’s not like every game during the regular season you aren’t “showing something”. This is the NFL.
-
I can’t say there’s anything positive going on on the field right now except that it’s still preseason. If I was watching the regular season and it looked this bad, might as well burn it down again.

I think between Hubbard, Brown, and Blackshear they will get the running game going. The only mistake I think they made was signing Sanders in the first place. I would have tried to get Foreman back on a 1 year deal and roll with the young guys, and put that money into depth on the O-Line or LB. But that's just me.
-
I'm assuming Brady Chistensen is the backup LT but it seems the bigger problem is depth at guard since everyone seems to suck ass

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/michael-oher-claims-tuohy-family-tricked-him-into-agreeing-to-conservatorship If anyone was wondering what Oher has been up to since his retirement, apparently here’s some drama. Last I heard he had serious neurological damage from the concussion that ended his career.

I’m down to let him play out the preseason but holy poo some of his reads were like man, your first read is open. Throw the ball. His first throw was to a wide open receiver. Whifffff.
-
Was there anything positive to take from that game? Yikes.
-
He did miss a wide open receiver on his first throw, and on 3rd down on the latest drive he had a receiver in the post he pulled up on for some reason and got sacked. I think he might just not be any good

Not a good start for the offense. I get it’s preseason but did we even get a first down?

It's Jets joint practice Day 1 (8.9.2023)
hepcat replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Some teams are more open about showing their practices than others. Rhule was insane about not letting the public see the practices. -
Von Miller: The Panthers were the better team

I hope there comes a day where we never discuss this cruel joke of a game ever again -
Brady had already played in the NFL for 2459 years so he proved he knew how to avoid taking punishment. Let's be real, Bryce is small, but he's probably smart enough to find ways not to get hit like Brady was though.
-
Definitely a night and day difference to the coaching staff and team dynamic from last year. I just hope despite his size that Bryce can hold up for a long NFL career. Even if he doesn't it sounds like he could have a future in coaching.

With Houston opposite Burns, that is a formidable front 7.
-
If he has anything left in the tank it’s a good signing. Played well in spot duty for Baltimore last year. At the very least he can mentor or be an example for the younger guys

If it was just my decision, I'd already be backed out of this deal given the reduced square footage and market conditions...but I have a family to think about and there may never be the perfect time to leave. I do think part of the issue is the season. Summer in Austin makes you want to die. It hasn't rained in 2 months. It's been 105+ every day for the past few weeks, over 100 for 43 straight days with no end in sight (breaking the all time record for most consecutive 100+ degree days). I mean look at this forecast! All the vegetation is dead. Our yard dead. Trees look sick. I had always planned to list our house in the Spring when our yard looks beautiful, but here we are. Rain should return in September so hopefully that helps with the temps and vegetation. Still have a little less than 3 weeks to make a final decision. Should be getting the home inspection report from the ILM house today and maybe there's some things I can use to reduce the price.

We didn’t get it fully appraised but we had a measurement done after our realtor asked me to confirm our square footage due to conflicting records on our property taxes.
-
We are probably still going to move, but not because it financially makes sense. The house we got is a gem and the previous owners took really good care of it. The yard is beautiful and the neighborhood is awesome. We did get it for a good price. And my wife is hell bent on living next to the coast again and she has dropped some not so subtle hints that I’d be in the doghouse until we eventually moved if I back us out of this. I am not on a tight budget, but there’s a limit. I’ve put almost $175k into the house we live in now. We completely remodeled it from top to bottom over the last almost 5 years. I even built a backyard office where I work every day. Our realtor has been doing a lot of leg work to get us all the information we need to list it and the feedback has been awful. I already mentioned the square footage decrease surprise which knocked about $40-50k off the potential list price. Then our realtor started reaching out to the listing agents for comparable houses in the neighborhood. It’s bleak. Really nice houses in the same price range we plan to list are sitting for 2+ months with as little as 1 showing and zero offers. A few of the nicer ones have gotten lowball offers that they are actually considering. I am willing to eat some cost if our house won’t sell for the top dollar we thought it would, but some of the prices I’m seeing we might sell it for are so low it’s almost offensive. I did not expect the Austin housing market to be struggling this much.
