To be fair, do we trust the Teppers to hire the person who could help with football operations?

We aren’t talented offensively, but that’s not the issue.
Wundrbread33 replied to Wundrbread33's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah people argue his arm is average or above average even. It’s pretty clear it isn’t. -
Ben Johnson is a modern offensive coach. Night and day. Lions receivers don’t even have to be great. They are schemed wide the fug open.

No if you remember, CMC is just a runningback and those are a dime a dozen. Easily replaceable. We won that trade. And DJ is not a number one and doesn’t play hard. He also can’t score touchdowns and that was his fault. -Huddle

I respectfully disagree with everything you said.

Could have sworn Peppers wanted to leave. He lived in NC his whole life and wanted to experience a different place.

It would be expensive, but it would be for a top 5-10 edge for 3-5 years of his prime on the next deal. Wouldn’t it also hurt the franchise in the “long run” to not have that edge? Both sides of the argument have their merits. However…if Bryce is worth a damn, then Burns contract is inconsequential since we won’t have an expensive QB deal to care about. That’s why I think people are caring a bit too much about his potential annual salary.

How has Jeudy been affected by the offensive suck in Denver though? If we excuse our own players for having poo coaching, scheme, and surrounding talent…then is it unfair to view Jeudy from the same lens? Perhaps that can be answered by anyone who watches Denver consistently in here. Maybe he legit doesn’t have the talent, but let’s at least be consistent.

I, for one, fell for the great story of it all. They did a hell of a job selling Franks story. We finished last year strong, seemingly upgraded the staff, drafted a megamind QB. We thought we had a four course meal but it was cotton candy that dissolved quickly.

Yeah Reich “protecting” Bryce is akin to someone loving a bunny so much that they hug it to death. Gotta let the kid learn from mistakes. Taking away the opportunity for mistakes is making him look like a bust.

Mr “I won’t stand up for Mediocrity” observes practice today
Wundrbread33 replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
At the end of the day, there are only 32 HC jobs at the highest level of football, and 1 of those is with the Panthers. People will always be interested in that. -
I’m all for Jeudy. He’s the exact receiver we need. Pristine route runner. Hands. Clever in his movements. No wasted movement. But it all depends on cost. I don’t trust Fitt right now. Too much desperation. I think at least a 3rd gets it done, but that’s tough to swallow. 4-5th round pick is what I’d be happy with, but I think (barring injury) Jeudy is a better player than that, so I don’t think Denver accepts that. And of course, the looking question is how much offensive disfunction is simply Reich hamstringing things right now. There’s just so much wrong offensively that I’m not sure adding a WR helps with it.

Then after saying this, they acted like they didn’t have conviction until a couple days before the draft. Confusing.

A lot of people recited the “runningbacks aren’t that valuable anymore/are a dime a dozen” over and over before and after the trade. He’s has always been far more than just a running back. Maybe our poo coaches and schemes made it harder for people to see that.

To be fair they scored 12 points.

Which reminds me…why wasn’t that route for Hurst? I’m over Thomas being forced into a role he hasn’t shown to be good at. Hurst is no Olsen, but he catches that ball.

What's more important, Talent or Coaching?
Wundrbread33 replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think taking something intangible like “good coaching” and trying to quantify it with “2-3 more wins” is trying to make a complete crapshoot guess sound intelligent. No matter how much sense we try to make of the world, some things aren’t explainable numerically. A great team is a combination of coaches putting players in situations that take advantage of their strengths, the players having strengths that can be put in position for an advantage, leadership at the player level that holds everyone accountable, and full buy-in by those players. Leadership and buy-in build a circular momentum, with everyone feeding off each other momentum, and that leads to chemistry, and success. Special teams are a perfect storm of these things. 2015 was that. 2023 lacks all of that by the looks of it, but one of those things being off can have a cascade affect on all the others. That why you see a coaching change turn a team around. Or one star player lifting his peers (Luke). Without being in the building, it’s hard to tell if it’s all the above that is wrong, or just one or two things (coaching/o-line maybe?). -
Digging up past #1 overall…or top 5 picks really does nothing though. Those were different people, drafted by different teams, with different coaches. It’s fruitless.

I just really want to type “Akili Smith” tho.

Cam Defenders vs Bryce Defenders, maybe a pattern?
Wundrbread33 replied to RumHam's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cam needed to be defended because the media parroted the “thug” narrative out do the gate, and during his career they would always exclude his rushing stats to make him look bad. Naturally, football “fans” would parrot these things too, including that he only had one good season…smh. And Cam’s personality made him a “love him on your team, hate him on the opponent” kind of guy. My dad’s generation always called him a sore loser too. I always liked that about Cam though. Bryce so far is the polar opposite if Cam in nearly every way. So this Cam defender is not a Bryce defender. Bryce was crowned before taking a snap, and now isn’t meeting expectations. It’s not all his fault, but until he produces or shows something worthy of his draft status, I’m not running to coddle him more. -
Bryce is fine. The Panthers are fine.
Wundrbread33 replied to AceBoogie's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don’t care enough right now to look it up, but YPC isn’t the stat. Air yards per attempt is what we are looking for. Tired of people running to bryce’s defense. I understand it may be too early to hate/we need to be patient, but stop selling people on how great he is. He needs to show it.
