  1. I dreamt a dream that we lost to the Falcons. And we could only muster 9 points...we may be getting out of this Rhule fiasco sooner than later. But with that in mind, consider: Tepper marches at the beat of his own drum and it's hard to really make happen as a fan, but I really hope this experiment has shown him that he needs football opps guys to help in our next HC search. Much like JR did with Gettleman. Looking back, I can imagine Rhule was a grand vision guy, great first impression/interview type and much of what we're seeing could have been dug into at the beginning of the search. I'm feeling some questions weren't asked because Tepper was so blown away and bought into the hype (or if they were, he had a very shmoozy answers): "How will you compensate for having such limited NFL experience?" "What will be your offensive and defensive philosophies?" "Do you have player types and a vision in mind for the type of team you would like to build?" My biggest thing when looking at those intro pressers and Tepper interviews was that he was wow'd in the now. I really am unsure if he actually dug into the candidates. For all we know, he was basically looking at like McCarthy & Rhule. Both being pretty yuckersauce and went with the trendy pick out of left field. This was also likely accompanied with being his first HC search as a giddy new owner. Yes, he's a shrewd businessmen but he's also getting his feet wet as an owner. There's always something to learn. I just really hope DT puts together a few football minds that can dig deep & ask pressing questions during our next search. I'd want to make sure they have the knack for coaching at this level, could tell me how they would take down the Bucs or Chiefs. How they can counter a good gameplan. If we're talking names like Hackett, Eberflus, Dabboll, Pederson, etc., we need to make sure they can actually cut the mustard to this degree beyond the paper resumes and whatnot. It's easy to list these hot names and their resumes, but getting a few guys to help gauge who has the head coaching gene beyond coordinator life will be critical. Here's to hoping. Get a search committee.
  2. LOL at Florio in this. Florio: "I'm not saying Matt Rhule is a buffoon but...." If Tepper wants high standards and better results, get rid of them all and bring in a seasoned coach. They nailed the college vs. pro dynamic. We've got a recruiter/talker/non-evolving program guy. Not one that's attuned to scheming, evolving, and creating a dynamic system.
  3. Re-signed Cam as in: Released Cam, signed Teddy B, released Teddy B, traded for Sam Darnold, benched Darnold, then the owner instructed him to sign Cam because his plan was dogsh*t. Yeah, that's more like it.
  4. Totally. Looking at the positives--at least his drafts have netted us some decent guys to have around for a bit post-regime, notably: Chinn, YGM, Horn, Brady C, Tremble, Chuba, Taylor all seem like solid contributors to keep. Brown hasn't been what I thought but can see grow into a better, above avg DT. Wouldn't classify him as a bust more so a missed opportunity pick --Wirfs and Wills Unsure about Marshall and Shi but they could be good. And then Hoskins has flashed for being such a deep pick.
  5. To this day, I would have still fired Rivera in 2014 pre-SB run. We didn't make that run because of him. His crews can bring a team to a playoff contender floor but that's about it. Needs the players to do the rest. McD was also a big part (who don't forget we interviewed in contention with Rivera before bringing both in HC+DC) McDermott may not have been ready yet back then but who really knows. Looking ahead--I see 4 totally respectable and pretty darn certain upgrades in Hackett, Daboll, Pederson, & Eberflus. They should strongly be considered to replace Rhule and get things back in order.
  6. I think you're in the ballpark of reality. It makes me wonder if we have this hodgepodge staff doing this and the rest of the league is laughing like we're amateurs. The structure of it all alone leaves so much room for issues. Just seems like a faulty coaching set up that is not on par with NFL standards. You would think this would be something to ask our most veteran of players that came from other organizations on offense, problem being, we're so young, the only players that could identify it's bonkers are Paradis, Cam, & Erving who this staff gifted cash and career extensions despite being journeymen so I doubt they'd say much. This is such a young and inexperienced team coaches and players alike. Our 4 most veteran players were midseason pickups: Cam, Omameh (who?), Barkley, & Snead...SMDH
  7. A bigger question from this tidbit is why have the potential disconnect and what's the reason divy up all those responsibilities? So Brady wasn't in charge of game plan, third down, or red zone? Like what? "Nixon will call plays in conjunction with those guys" So we have 3-4 guys controlling different aspects of the offense and not one at the top driving home the overall game plan and execution? Just Rhule's oversight. This seems weird but at the same time, I obviously don't believe him.
  8. Times have changed. But the lack of patience is also relative. There is no breakaway team anymore (last was the Chiefs) and we shouldn’t be tripping over our dicks like this. Potential was there if we navigated the QB and coaching search correctly. We had good pieces we’ll now be breaking up. And it gets more annoying when you have a talker like Rhule. Just annoying babbling porridge seeping from the Dutch ovens of BOFA.
  9. Crap had no idea. Just remembered Fuente was canned.
  10. Yeah, Howell is in there too with Ridder & Willis. Just less sold on them but any of them could end up being the best in class. Most sold on Corral and Strong but could change. Have held firm on liking Strong & Ridder throughout the season. Ridder has shown improved accuracy which is huge but will need patience. Strong is ready for the NFL. Gotta capitalize if you can get a top drafted QB. Too many examples of supposed good classes being awful and vice versa. If you can take a top signal caller you do it at the expense of the need for OL. OL needs to be coveted along with DL but when the iron is hot for a QB, you take the gamble or else we miss out on a Herbert, Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, etc. All top young QBs post-pick 6. I'd like to hit at least once outside of an obvious #1 for Cam in our 25+ year existence (and signing a 28 year old unproven Delhomme). I mean, at least find a capable starter Cutler/Derek Carr/Tannehill type level. I see that in Strong as his floor. At the least a Beurline that can win.
  11. He's a college guy going back to college. I also foresee the big schools passing on him given his most recent stint. But maybe it's one who wants to take a gamble and return to notoriety: Virginia Tech
  12. Listened to Pederson on the Ryen Russillo podcast the other week and I think he's got the tools and obviously the track record. Seems like a guy that could have a long successful coordinator career post-HC life that the players love.
  13. We should at least have targeted one of his friend group from Nashville. Can't say Arthur Smith has looked great, but not bad. Players are still fighting and scrappy for him when it was known ATL wouldn't be good. Matt LeFleur-Smith-McVay are besties off the field with a few more dudes in the equation. The league is smitten with this group.
  14. Matt Eberflus. Top defensive coach on ascending team with a winning track record. Has also experience transition between schemes. Knows how to use the hybrid types. Prefer defensive oriented coaches with 10+ years NFL experience. And wouldn't be a retread. Honestly, if I'm getting what I want, I'd target Eberflus as HC w/ Pederson as the AHC/OC.
  15. Eberflus could be really good timing. He has links to the Colts, Pats and Cowboys staffs. 11 years in the league, primed and ready for a HC spot.
  16. I think Pickett, Strong, & Corral are the top 3 interchangeable, Ridder and Willis right next both having major upside but I like Ridder more. Strong would be so hyped if he didn't have the knee history. I actually think it's in our benefit to grab one in RD1. Not because of desperation but because I think there's really interesting upside with the top-3 and Ridder. If they don't work out, then it won't be tough to take a top one in 2023. A rookie that performs "meh" could get us a high pick and retain value for future deals. Miss out on a top OL (again) but could it be worth the reward if let's say Strong or Corral seem like studs as rookies. If they don't, we're in position to grab the Bama kid.
  17. The greater concern beyond all of this is that we simply look more flippant and indecisive rather than this look I think they want to project as supreme high QB standard. If you're this high of standard, then don't go for reclamation projects and pretend these guys will be something they aren't. We're just going nowhere.
  18. There have been about 3-5 pretty nice C and OG prospects in R2-4 the pqst few years. Overall, we could have easily had something like Sam Cosmi & Saahdiq Charles on this line. You can convince me Horn will be legit but this whole trade-down-aramma netting Marshall, a TE and the rest was okay, buuut why when the needs were clearly outweighing the lean to BPA.
  19. Considering the FA classes, it's super unfortunate that if we go QB R1, we have to wait until R4 for a OL at the least (or mortgage more future picks to move up). And on the flipside, no QB1, then we're stuck with picking from a god awful crop of FAs and potential pickups. That's the most frustrating thing. The confidence in their trade for Sam combined with the sudden switch to win-now mode after starting 3-0 to acquire Henderson f*cked it up. Overconfidence when they should have taken a sober look that we won despite the offense. I mean, the NYJ almost came back and beat us Week 1.
  20. Meh, I'm not saying I'm some guru but I personally don't see it. He's got the tools and good in the moment skills when forced into pressure but I don't see much more than a Case Keenum type. Could be wrong but for not having the accuracy of Strong or Howell (who both have great arms), the quickness of a Ridder or Corral, he needs to be perfect and is coming from a quick throw, 1st read offense so there will be a lot of adjustment. If we're talking pure QB skills, Strong would be a top 1st rounder most drafts (knee injury is the concern), if we're talking overall potential, then gotta look at Corral.
  21. Well I'm sure we'd still be able to get an OL or two if we acquire the like of a Nick Foles. I can't see a single one of the FA QBs getting north of 7 mil/year
  22. I don't like Willis but the college list jives otherwise 1-Corral 2-Strong 3-Howell 4-Ridder 5-Willis...but wouldn't necessarily consider all 1st round. Corral, Strong, yes. Maybe Howell and Ridder. The vet/FA list is scary bad/if not even less appealing than the often panned draft class. There's next to nothing there.
  23. We’ve been saying this since Jake’s Tommy John surgery. It needs to happen already, we’ve watched a generation of QBs basically come and go in this time.
  24. Agree on most points. Though, I think Perryman clearly didn’t vibe with the team or staff and wanted out. He wasn’t playing here. There was some really nice OL talent we passed on trading back and when Marshall was taken. That’s the toughest to part to take.
