My interest in this team is at an all time low
PantherGuy replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cam's return is pretty much the only thing keeping me even a little interested in this team right now. CMC has gone from a bonafide workhorse superstar that I got into a FF auction draft bidding war for 2-3 years ago to someone who can't stay on the field because he keeps getting over-used when he's healthy. The defense has been figured out. Just run off-tackle with a RB who isn't a shrimp and you're golden. Rhule has gone from an interesting coach who seemed to be making progress to a "culture" salesman with no substance and no answers. I strongly believe that his "culture" would only fly in college at a place like Baylor or Temple. I had hoped Rhule would be an offensive-minded coach but his approach reminds me of John Fox. Rely on the defense and your running game and get just enough from your QB to win by 3-7 points. Rhule just talks more behind the podium and is more aggressive with his situational playcalling. But Fox was ultra-conservative, so not hard to outdo him in risk-taking. -
I have strong doubts we will make the playoffs. Cam will make things interesting, and a lot more fun. But the playoffs not in the cards this year.

I think we're saying the same thing, just in different words

That's a great point. Think back to 2015. The game at NYG. Odell is focused more on trying to piss off JNo than playing. JNo starts off retaliating but soon their bullshit is overshadowing the game. Cam, Luke, TD, Greg, etc step in and tell JNo to ignore it from now on. He mostly does. Obviously the situation was a bit different, but your point stands that JNo had multiple guys to rein him in. Robby clearly didn't. Everyone, including Sam, basically just ignored his outburst.

I'm convinced this is it 100%. Initially I thought Tepper was the one who wasn't sold on Cam due to his tenuous health at the beginning of Tepper's ownership, and he didn't want to pay Cam for that reason. That may have been part of it. But seeing Tepper's spending habits since then I don't think that has as much to do with Cam's release anymore. I think it was mostly Rhule wanting to be the big swinging d!ck in the room because he was used to that in college, but he knew he would have a very hard time accomplishing that with Cam in the room. But he has now learned that in pro sports the coaches are rarely, if ever, the BSD on a team. It's almost always the most important players. Your job as a coach in pro sports is to empower your players and put them in position to succeed, not to dictator your way to wins doing it your way or the highway.

Before the game, even with Kyler and DeAndre out, I would have said no way we win. Couldn’t be more wrong
-
Certainly is. I believe now that Rhule wanted Cam gone so he wouldn't have to compete with him to be "The Man" in the building because he's used to being the alpha dog of the program in college. But there isn't really any NFL coach that is the top dog of his franchise other than maybe Belichick. The best players on the team are the top dogs.

Tepper Should go to Cam and admit he fuged up
PantherGuy replied to Panthers12211981's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd like to bring Cam back. He was my favorite player for several years there. But no way he makes us contenders. He might make us marginally more fun to watch, but that's it. -
Yes, it's over. The Giants are not "sneaky good" like the Texans. They're just bad. A blow-out loss to them means that we're firmly in the conversation for worst team in the NFL. There is not a single other team that I would at least give us a 50-50 shot to beat. Not even Jax or Miami

Have done this the last two weeks. It's been pretty great. Highly recommended.

Sam Darnold : Will he make it to a 2nd season here?
PantherGuy replied to glenwo2's topic in Carolina Panthers
I voted that he shouldn't get another season, but realistically think he will. His tape from the last three games has been bad enough that I'm no longer optimistic he is the answer. But I don't know of anyone better than him that we could get for next year. -
My Theory on Thursday Night Games Going Forward
PantherGuy replied to Matthias's topic in Carolina Panthers
You’re not wrong, but the NFL doesn’t care about the injuries or the changes to a team’s chances given the injuries. TNF games still get high ratings. People complain and tell the NFL that the games shouldn’t happen because it isn’t enough recovery time. And they’re right. But as long as the NFL gets its ratings, it doesn’t fuging care one goddamn bit. -
This is what I now believe. I had been a big Rhule supporter but now I think there is a good chance he is out of his league.

Went to our game in Green Bay in 2019 with my brother. The Packers fans were really good to us. We got our share of jests too, but all in good fun. I thought I was prepared for the cold that night. I wasn't, at all. I was wearing my light pullover and my heavy winter coat and still freezing my ass off. It started snowing in the second half, which didn't help. The couple sitting behind us were very nice and gave me a heavy blanket to drape around my shoulders. Thanks to their kindness I didn't become a legit icicle during the game.

Very Discouraged By Rhule and His Comments After the Game
PantherGuy replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes, this. Between Dallas and today, most of his interceptions have not been pressure-induced. He's flat out missing defenders as he reads the field and throwing gimme picks. It has me going from very optimistic from Houston to very pessimistic now. I don't think he is the answer. -
30 - 7 Panthers. Offense gets a little bit better. Texans get at least one long punt return and it sets them up for their lone touchdown.

Official Saints at Panthers Predictions thread!
PantherGuy replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bad guys 27 Good guys 24 OL is the difference -
Just my opinion, but I'd be inclined to say Brady.
-
I still think Brady largely called a good first half but totally botched the second half. The difference clearly shows in the offensive stats in each halves. In the second half it took a full quarter before he adjusted to the Jets' pressure.
-
Lots of overreaction to the total dollar amount. He's guaranteed $20.5 million. That's a reasonable number for him. https://www.skysports.com/nfl/news/12118/12389660/robby-anderson-carolina-panthers-and-wide-receiver-agree-to-two-year-29-5m-contract-extension#:~:text=The Carolina Panthers and wide,Charlotte through the 2023 season.
-
I actually agree with the sentiment, but not necessary to say IMO
-
I voted Other. Deshaun has obvious talent. But the Texans can't make up their minds what to do with him, and his legal problems aren't going away anytime soon. I'm also optimistic about Darnold. I think he'll do great and establish himself as our starter.

I saw that on the stream. I panicked for a moment then breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Alrighty never mind
