Ok. So, you supported my point. Why did you disagree with me? I'll wait for a GM with an average of 4 to 5 good picks per season.
-
There are many overrated 1st round QBs now. Mahomes is the only top tier QB in the NFL with Purdy threatening the top tier even though he gets the same disrespect Brady received. Weakest top tier in NFL history. I hope it gets better this decade. As for coaches, Reid doesn't have much competition as his offense is automatic now & most of his challengers have all learned Bill Walsh offensive philosophy from Reid.
-
Can you name me 3 GMs who have lived up to your standard? I'll look at their draft data.
-
4Q & Harbaugh is losing his team. They're letting the pressure get to them & trying to play hero ball by their key players.
-
Hurney was only here for 3 offseasons for his second stint. Fitterer was responsible for extending them. Jeremy Chinn, YGM, Donte Jackson & Ian Thomas are still here. Average GMs hit an average of 1 player a year. Good GMs (keep them around) hit 2 per year. Great GMs (rare) hit an average of 3 per year. Bad GMs bomb 1st round picks & the players they trade up for.

No doubt Lamar is athletically superior, but relying on that over fundamentals & timing will dramatically lower your chances against disciplined championship fundamental defense
-
Welcome to Bill Walsh football philosophy. Been dominating the NFL since 1980.
-
Lamar got selfish & locked in too long on the big play. Hero mode in a championship game agaisnt a proven winner will lose it for your team Lamar.
-
Looked like Andy Reid believes he has the Ravens defense figured out with that look on his face

Andy Reid seems to know what Harbaugh is thinking. Setting Harbaugh up for a final 4 minute coach off. Whose QB is more prepared for situational football?

David, hi, some questions about this hire
CPantherKing replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
He's Pete Carroll's protégé. Molded to master the book Bill Walsh wrote & apply it to the Seahawks while being the offensive genius whispering in Carroll's ear. Carroll wanted a young Bill Walsh like Paul Brown had & now he's the Panthers HC. Let's hope it plays out the same as the 70s 49ers rolled through 4 coaches in a few years. They went after a failed 3rd pick in the draft in Steve Spurrier. Tossed him for a failed #1 overall in Jim Plunkett. Tossed him for a rookie QB in Steve DeBerg while Plunkett went on to win 2 SBs over the next 6 seasons. Ownership made Walsh try to correct DeBerg. 49ers were stuck with Deberg for 2 and a half seasons until ownership gave the green light to Joe Montana during his second season. Walsh was allowed to bring in his QB (Montana) to backup the young QB (DeBerg) that ownership wanted Walsh to fix. The 49ers couldn't attract any of the sought after coaching hires because of their ownership & they went with a GM in McVay who offered them a genius offensive assistant with only 1 season as an OC. We can only hope that happens in Charlotte. -
Ricky Pearsall 130 targets & 35 rush, Adam Thielen 130 targets, Frank Gore Jr 70 targets, 250 rush & 35 pass, Brenden Rice 70 targets, Bryson Nesbit 50 targets, Luke McCaffrey 50 targets, 65 rush & 50 pass. Bryce Young 60 rush & 480 pass Have fun with those weapons. 3 QBs, 6 efficient receiving options who can run the route trees with great body control/agility/strength, 4 running threats & 4 players with pro pedigree who grew up around the game all on the field at the same time. That'll stretch a defense. Thank me later!

So, we need to make a trade for an elite all purpose RB who can challenge for league MVP & draft a day 3 QB that will make us trade/forget about the 1st round QB mistake?
-
Can the Panthers move Ekwonu to Guard already? That will be a positive signal from Dan & Dave. Protect the QB first. Then use timing passes to open up the run. Then dominate with the run & Bozeman/Ekwonu/Moton.
-
Drew Brees definitely needed to be fixed following the Chargers. He talked about it in detail. Same with Kurt Warner. He didn’t fail to beat out Brett Favre, Mark Brunell & Ty Detmer because his mechanics were sound. We can even talk about Brad Johnson. You should study up on their journey into the NFL. Dan Fouts looked bad until Walsh took care of him. It took Joe Montana 2 seasons under Walsh to rework his mechanics before he replaced Steve DeBerg. Steve Young also details the journey he had to go through with Walsh until his mechanics were good enough for the NFL. Prior to that he bombed with the Bucs because of his mechanics & footwork.
-
Mike Evans praised Canales. I'm sure he was not happy & it may lead to him going elsewhere in free agency if they don't tag him.
-
Virgil Carter with the Bengals. Dan Fouts with the Chargers. Steve Young with the 49ers. Brett Favre with the Packers. Kurt Warner with the Rams. Matt Hasselbeck with the Seahawks. Drew Brees with the Saints. Nick Foles with the Eagles. There's many more. Just about every successful QB has had to change their mechanics. The key is finding a QB whisperer with leadership qualities & extend his impact as a WR/TE coach while demonstrating an ability to make in game adjustments.

And Cletus Blakeman is a lifelong Broncos fan!

Donnelly: Process used to hire Morgan was wrong
CPantherKing replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sportsology trying to hook up Ken Dorsey with a HC job? The writing is on the wall. Dan Morgan & Ken Dorsey reunited for a 3rd time? Throw in Ed Reed for DC to hit the hat trick & reunite the 2000 Miami Hurricane leaders. They knew how to win & build a culture. It'll be fun! -
He was the previous GMs right hand. He was Teppers right pinky finger. He was responsible for delivering the assessments & information on players & trade potential to Fitterer. He doesn't need to answer for his part in all of the mess which is tied directly to Fitterer's decisions? He wasn't just an intern or analyst that sat outside the decision making process. I hope he's more like Beane, but the last 3 years with defensive improvements, defensive drafting & the LB moves I have some concerns.
-
With that you go against your original comments. Hurney was a key part of that roster building. Morgan was agreed upon. Jenkins was spotted by Jack & his scouts. Care to tell me who spotted Smith? It wasn't Jack & his scouts Chris Weinke was 100% Jack/Polian QB scouting model. I hope Dan Morgan can spot the Steve Smiths & be open to backing them even with their faults as a person while steering clear of the Weinkes.
-
Did Jack report to Marty or did Marty report to Jack? Think about this one. Was Jack doing the hiring & administration of all facets of the team or simply heading up the scouting department like Dan has been doing for a few years with the Panthers? You need to go back & look at how Seifert & JR delegated responsibility to Jack & Marty. I hope Dan is more Marty&Brandon than Jack&David.
-
He was that previous staff. He was next to Seifert. Hurney was with the team in 1998 after Polian & brought in his protégé in Beane. They took over roster building/administration under Seifert & immediately put together a 1999 contender that would lead to a SB roster including Dan Morgan. Prior to that Hurney came from the Chargers & helped lead them to a SB roster under Beathard. Didn't realize the roster was built with Hurney while Seifert lost a competitive team with his coaching decisions & fallout with Musgrave?
-
Beane was under Hurney. Took over as interim GM in 2012. Gettleman was hired over Beane in 2013 (bad decision). Beane had to see Gettleman tear down the work he did as part of the team under Hurney since 1998. Gettleman was suppose to keep Beane around to be the eventual Panthers GM. Gettleman set up Beane & McDermott to be hired by Buffalo following the 2016 season. Guess Gettleman thought it would cement his future as Panthers GM. Gettleman had a falling out after this stunt & in a few months was fired before the 2017 training camp opened. Hurney came back but Gettlemans damage was done & the Bills profited. 4 years forced under Gettleman & 15 years under Hurney.
-
You do realize Hurney put together the foundational rosters for 2 panthers eras that were in the playoffs consistently, won division titles & went to 2 SBs? Bad GMs can't even improve a roster to get to the playoffs after the previous GMs foundation has been cleared out. Then there are the ones that ride the coattails of the previous GM & claim it as their success.
