  1. We really needed to see what we had in BC this year in anticipation of a tackle rich draft. I hope BC can develop into a stud LT because if we trade for DW, he's going to have to be. I think Campen can do a number with this line, as long as we have players with enough talent to be developed.
  2. It's going to be really sad if after all of this, and all we likely give up for Watson, he decides to play out his contract and go elsewhere. Of course we can franchise tag him, but would you really want to have to force your franchise QB to stay where he doesn't want to be? He didn't want to be in Houston playing for a bad team and bad coach. Is Carolina really going to be any better.
  3. If he requests a trade to Vegas this no longer becomes an issue. Plenty of legal rub n tugs in Nevada.
  4. Which shows that the Rams offer wasn't as good as Carolina's or Detroit would have already taken it. They had to add more to make it work. And Stafford wanted a shot at a ring, and that wasn't here.
  5. Of course they don't but you also have to be realistic. Stafford wasn't taking this team to a SB. 2 1sts from Carolina was worth more than 2 from the Rams because the Rams are the far better team, but we didn't offer 2 1sts. We are also coached by Matt Rhule, a 2nd year coach from college with no major wins and a coaching staff made up of guys with almost zero NFL experience. Carolina is/was a much better risk to end up in the top 10 vs the Rams. If Carolina had made the same offer as the Rams, Detroit would have taken it because the likelihood of the picks being better was much higher.
  6. The Rams weren't offering top 10 picks, and what could be a top 5 pick next year. They fully expected to get to the SB which would mean pick 32 and then another late 20s/30s pick. Value isn't close to the same.
  7. Hard to really say what he is since he's never had a QB1. Cam hasn't been fully healthy in a long time.
  8. If what that tweet says is true and there were witnesses waiting that weren't called, that's very disturbing. There's still 22 civil suits to be concluded. I always felt the criminal charges would be the hardest to prove if at all, simply because it's he said she said. I'm not going to crucify any of them because i don't know if they were telling the truth or not. If it comes out they were lying, then they absolutely deserve to be crucified. Pretend victims lying about assault make it much harder for real victims to get justice. My problem with Watson has been his pattern of behavior and decision making. Flying in "massage therapists" when there's any number of them available locally is very odd and makes you wonder why. At the same time though, you have to ask why would any woman fly that far just to give a "massage" and think it was going to be completely innocent. If I'm a multi millionaire star NFL qb, I have a camera in that room recording every session for just this reason. He hasn't been very smart with regards to any of this. My biggest issue overall has always been with the reports Tepper wanted Watson at any cost regardless of what he may have done without any of the process having played itself out. The message i was getting was football mattered more than 2 dozen potential victims. Having 3 women close to me victims of sexual assault, its not an accusation i take lightly and it's not one I just dismiss because it can be extremely hard to prove. Let the process play out. If he's cleared, trade for him if that's what you want to do. I don’t know if he's guilty or not but his pattern of behavior is cause for concern. He wanted out of a new contract because he wasn't happy with conditions that are nearly identical to ours. The cost Houston is asking is also extremely high for a disgruntled QB that wants out. 5 1st round picks (3 picks, 2 players) and 2nds is an obscene price tag for any player, much less one who could still be subject to NFL discipline. We could give up all those assets and end up with Darnold as our starter. Goodell will protect the shield, and if Watson and the NFL are getting tons of social media pressure, you can bet he's going on the exempt list. I don't care what his sexual proclivities are as long as it's between 2 consenting adults.
  9. They got their franchise QB and then used their first round pick to take Chase, who was an integral part of leading that team to the SB. If they had spent 3 1sts to acquire Burrow, there would have been no Chase and no SB trip.
  10. Michael Jackson actually was indicted on charges and stood trial though he was acquitted on all counts and he paid a 23m settlement in a separate civil trial to an accuser. The catholic church, which has no skin tone, has had many, many white priests commit deplorable acts for which they paid millions across multiple settlements. They're famous for it. Boy Scouts too. Massive class action suit. OJ is probably the most famous example of someone tried and acquitted criminally but still found liable during a civil trial. Who doesn't remember him in the back of a white Bronco with a line of cop cars following him on prime time TV. Race has nothing to do with what they were accused of doing. These 3 very famous examples just happen to have months of constant TV news coverage. If you want to instead use Sandusky, Weinstein, or any number of white sexual predators or criminally innocent/civilly guilty feel free, the point is still the same. The pattern of behavior is suspect and I wouldn't let my kids be alone with any of them, and you can be not guilty criminally, or not indicted in Watson's case, as still possibly found liable in a civil trial.
  11. Tepper is going to be front row center giving those lovin' eyes.
  12. He forced his way out of Houston after signing that extension. Just because he's under contract doesn't mean he will want to stay if things go badly.
  13. Wonder if Ron is kicking himself for trading for Wentz
  14. It also assumes he doesn't fly in any more massage therapists.
  15. I'm honestly not worried about it. We aren't going anywhere with Rhay-Z as our HC. 1000%
  16. Don't want him here. There's still 22 civil suits pending. I expect him to settle those to make them go away. I wouldn't let my kid go to Michael Jackson's house or be an alter boy for the Catholic church. Just because you didn't get convicted doesn't mean your innocent. OJ was found guilty civilly, innocent in criminal.
  17. Just because you will do whatever it takes to win doesn't mean you have the ability to win. Teppers decisions so far don't really give that warm fuzzy feeling that everything is going to be alright.
  18. Actually think this is too cheap an offer. I think we should get more than a 16 and 51 for 6. The pot would have to be sweetened for me with a 3rd as well and a future 2023 pick. If we did drop though, my picks would be 16. Linderbaum 19. Penning or Raimann, or one of the top WR if they fall. I might possibly trade back mid 20s with this pick too to get an extra 2nd or 3rd, and take Zion Johnson mid 20s. 51. Chad Muma if he's still on the board.
  19. Right now Tepper reminds me of the rich guy that paid the 10k buy in for the World Series of Poker because it looks so easy on TV.
  20. I don't see any other team acting this desperate and desperation breeds opportunity. Other teams can be interested. No other team is likely willing to pay what we are. Houston knows this and isn't going to budge on the negotiations because they don't have to. We played our hand way to early.
  21. How bad of a PR problem is it going to be if Watson settles 22 civil cases? Rice got 2 games the Goodell caved to public pressure. If he suspends him 10 games and the pressure starts piling on, how long do you think Watson gets then? Women are a large part of the NFL fanbase. Goodell will do what it takes to protect the league and if that means sacrificing Watson to protect billions in revenue, you can damn sure bet he won't hesitate.
  22. We could have 1/3 of our cap space devoted to QBs and still be forced to start Darnold. Houston has made it clear there will be no guarantees of this trade because even its obvious they doubt if he will be available next year. If Watson settles the civil suits, how long does anyone think it will take for a suspension to come? The social media pressure on the NFL will be enormous to never let him play again. Does anyone seriously think Goodell is going to defend Watson over the NFL shield in a PR campaign? And if Watson does decide to go to court, how focused can he be with cameras and paparazzi following him 24/7 and all the other mud slinging that's going to occur in a highly publicized trial like this. Until it's resolved one way or another, this is a no win situation. It's not even really a no win. The Panthers will lose and lose big. But then again, that's what it's like having Rhule and Tepper in charge.
  23. We're bidding against the Texans. That's what they want for a guy refusing to play for them 1 year after signing a 160 million dollar contract. Here's a better idea. We arent goimg to the playoffs with Watson. This team is not good enough and Rhule definitely isnt. Don't trade for Watson, let him ride the bench another year, get a LT this year in the draft, and wait for the Texans to be desperate to move him because of that 40m a year salary or they have to cut him. Next year, depending on the draft position, choose either a QB from that draft or then trade for Watson, who's legal situation should be much clearer and Houston is desperate to get rid of 40m a year on their salary cap for the next 4 years for a guy that's never going to step foot on the field for them again. Rhule's desperate attempt to hang on to his job and Tepper's desperate attempt to find a QB are not good reasons to gut the talent on this team. This is like Dan Snyders obsession with Dwayne Haskins only much much worse.
