  1. And certainly a possible one. A team would likely invest 10's of 1000's of dollars to negotiate a deal of this caliber. Why spend that money if you feel it's a probably outcome that the Ravens just match the deal and sign him.
  2. I would also think that it would open the NFLPA to lawsuits if one player gets certain contract concessions and another player didn't. That's more legal BS than they're probably interested in getting involved in.
  3. I'm not triggered. I'm just saying his study habits may be his study habits. He may learn information a certain way and that's just how he does things. Bringing Baker in doesn't have to change that. I have a certain way I have to study or I don't retain information well. It's just my normal. Personally, I don't think Darnold has the mental ability to be a 100m QB. I also don't think Rhule or his staff was in any way capable of developing Darnold or anyone for that matter as a QB.
  4. This is how good companies do business and the NFL is a business. I expect at some point he'll come back to the Ravens and end up signing a deal for less than what was originally offered.
  5. The first business deal with my own money I ever negotiated I got taken to the cleaners because I was outmatched and had no clue. Never again. The fees I pay my attorney are all now figured into the cost of doing business.
  6. These people do multi million dollar deals for breakfast. Lamar and his mom are so far out of their league it's embarrassing at this point.
  7. Actually it can be debated. His injuries are a legitimate concern. How does he fit into your offense can be questioned. His talent as a QB absolutely need to be questioned. How signing him allows you to build a team around him can be questioned. All of these and much more factor into whether or not he can be OUR franchise QB. Contrary to what you keep repeating. LJ did not win 75% of his games. His team won 75% of the games in which he played. How much he was directly responsible for those wins or losses is a completely different statistical analysis. Remember, Payton Manning had one of the worst games by a QB in SB history and still won (with some ref help). Denver's defense dominated and he got the win. It's a total team that wins, not just the one with the flashiest superstar.
  8. It sounds like he could be very ritualistic in his preparation routine. Watch any professional sport and you will see athletes following a specific routine before every game. People develop study habits. It's normal.
  9. And judging by the NFLs reaction, they don't think he's worth 200 mil guaranteed and 2 1sts.
  10. Because it's very possible and likely they don't feel he's worth what you think he's worth.
  11. The only real exception to that for me is offensive linemen and agility drills. Sometimes it's really hard to get a feel for their footwork in the scrum of a game. Little is a great example.
  12. It's pretty safe to say his mom doesn't have the connections to pick up the phone and talk to different people in the organizations to guage interest. Not hiring an agent is going to cost him far more than it saves him.
  13. But according to SAS and the Lamar camp, he never asked for fully guaranteed. Can't have it both ways.
  14. Not really. Just because the Browns made a bad deal doesn't mean the rest of the NFL has to do it. The price for Lamar is 2 1sts and a likely fully guaranteed salary. It's very possible that teams don't want to pay that price or go through the entire negotiation process just to have the Ravens match it and be done. It really could be that simple.
  15. I get what you're saying, but trading picks to move up in the draft doesn't require room under the salary cap. If he's only willing to sign a contract that guarantees 45m per season out of 50, there has to be room under the cap to actually sign it. After he's signed, it can be reworked. That's the snag. It's getting under that can be problematic. Add in the Ravens can match whatever he agrees to and he can't cut a team friendly deal to go elsewhere, because he'd be bound to it when the Ravens matched. It's why we had to make so much cap room to make the trade offer for Watson. We had to actually have the means to perform to execute the trade offer.
  16. If I had to guess, it's all part of taking his mom to school as his agent. They're driving the price down. Eventually he will have to hire a real agent, but by that point he'll have hurt his value. They'll come back to the table, but it will be for a lesser price. Pretty standard negotiating tactics I would think. I've done it several times in real estate deals.
  17. It's not the same price. You can't ignore the 50m annual salary.
  18. I think teams have legitimate interest in him, but the cumulative price tag in picks and salary are causing teams to look in other directions.
  19. What's happening right now has a similar feel to the contracts right before the rookie contract went into place. I think teams are going to get to a point and say this is as much % of our cap as we're paying and that's it. Those rookie contracts used to cripple teams when they didn't work out and these mega contracts have that same feel.
  20. All you really need to do is look at the Josh Norman situation before and after having a real agent to get the answer to that.
