He is 31 and started 16 games both of the last 2 seasons. In fact, he has started 16 games a season since he was drafted in 2015 except for 2018 when he only started 9 when he was injured. That is 89 starts in 6 years. True, he was not fully healthy his first year as a Panther and it showed but he started every game. He was healthier and greatly improved, yes I said greatly, last year.

Potential to be the worst move? Yes it does. Potential to be the best? Again, yes it does. I don't think it is a slam dunk bad move at this point. Let's wait till he throws his first INT or TD to make that call.

The starting jobs are won during camp and preseason. So yes if any of the rooks looks more talented they will start. But once the staff has settled on the starting 5 it is very hard for anyone to break into the lineup without a starter plain sucking or getting injured. Second string just doesn't get the chance to work with the starters during the week. You are keeping your original 5 in to build cohesion and chemistry.
