  1. They don’t call him the punt god for no reason. I’ve seen a video where a team has two returners back to account for his long distance and he still punted it over their head.
  2. Could sign Vander Esch for cheap this off-season.
  3. This is the year to snag a QB. Everyone is down on this batch of QBs, but percentages say a couple will work out. Have to snag the right one. The fact that we could get one at a discount because “bad QB class blah blah” is great. Trade back and can still get your guy most likely.
  4. I don’t think it’s fair at all to grade last years draft as a huge failure.
  5. I’m with you and would have preferred that pick. My only point of contention is it likely was the medical staff that steered the staff away from picking Smith. Hard to fault them, if so. The coaches aren’t medical experts.
  6. I’m good with this or…. LT: Christensen LG: Connor Williams (25 yo free agent) C : Tyler Linderbaum (traded back and acquired a 2nd round pick) RG: Deonte Brown RT: Taylor Moton
  7. Many teams passed over Smith due to health concerns. I don’t know why that gets glossed over. Yes, we should have drafted him and so should 30 other teams, but it was likely our medical staff that caused us to pass. I still think D Brown will be a solid guard for us. There are many things to be frustrated about with the current staff, but drafting isn’t one of them imo. Last year’s draft was very solid. Horn was a stud from the jump. Tremble and Christensen have flashed. TMJ is young and talented.
  8. I will because I had to hear why I was an idiot for thinking Trubisky should have been brought in last off-season. Knowing what we know now and what each QB got paid and traded for, we were right to think it. Could not have done worse. Likely would have been better this year and still have draft capital and cap space.
  9. Here are the players drafted in 2018 whose option was declined and would not cancel out against comp picks: Josh Rosen, QB Leighton Vander Esch, LB Billy Price, C Rashaan Evans, LB Hayden Hurst, TE Rashaad Penny, RB Terrell Edmunds, S Taven Bryan, DT Mike Hughes, CB Sony Michel, RB
  10. We can sign free agents that would not cancel out comp picks. They are…. -Players not in the top 35% of contracts signed by FAs for that year; ranked by average $ per year for the contract signed -Players who were cut by their team -Players whose options were not exercised -Players on transition tags -Players who are restricted FAs -Players who sign a Veteran Salary Benefit contract Source: https://overthecap.com/the-basics-and-methodology-of-projecting-the-nfls-compensatory-draft-picks/
  11. I wonder if he considered CB before settling on C.
  12. I can’t understand why people think Cam can still be a full time starter at QB. Unless your goal is to secure the a top 3 pick in the 2023 draft, he should only be used in short yardage situations.
  13. Let Reddick go. Get 3rd rd comp in 2023 Let Jackson go. Get ~4th rd comp in 2023 Resign Gilmore for 2 yr - 8 mil per max. If he wants more, move on. Resign Luvu, Gonzalez, Jansen (if he doesn’t want to retire), Abdullah, and Carter (if he’s willing to sign as a depth piece). Sign Trubisky to compete with Darnold.
  14. What’s your thoughts on CMC?
  15. He’s a strong WR2 imo, and we should trade him if he wants big WR1 money.
  16. Im not as sure. Only thing still giving me hope he’s a legit WR1 is the QB situation he’s had to endure. I don’t see him getting enough separation.
  17. I get your point, but what if that known commodity wants WR1 money when he’s probably worth WR2 money? Do you potentially overpay or build for the future? If we don’t think we can resign him, he should be traded as he’s worth more than a 3rd rd comp pick.
  18. Top 3 risers: 1. Reddick 2. Shaq 3. Jackson Top 3 fallers: 1. IOL (Miller/Daley/Paradis) 2. Brown 3. McCaffrey due to increasing injury concerns Top 3 Players (excluding CMC when healthy): 1. Reddick 2. Chinn 3. Burns
  19. I haven’t seen the other QBs enough to comment, but if you had suggested Pickett over Howell a year ago you would have been ridiculed. Howell had one talented WR to work with this year. No other WRs or RBs or OL were helping him much at all. Fortunately, we may get an opportunity to ‘buy low’ because his stock suffered a bit. He was widely considered QB1 in this draft based on his first two years and stats that rivaled Trevor Lawrence. Its not like he had a bad year. He actually proved to be more multiple as a threat with his legs this year than previously thought. If I’m Fitt and crew, I pick LT or Linderbaum with first pick and then I’m pairing DJ Moore with Day 3 picks, if need be, to move into the end of the 1st to pick Howell.
  20. He’ll be our highest paid player soon.
  21. Let’s pretend we are able to successfully trade back twice in the draft and look at last years draft for reference. So assuming picks are valued similarly this year and we have trade partners, we could potentially flip a #6 for around: 2022 1st rd pick #20 2022 4th rd pick #123 2023 1st rd pick 2023 1st rd pick 2023 4th rd pick I don’t think anyone would be mad at that. I would then use pick #20 on a QB and heavy on OL for the rest. Start the QB you draft next year and if it goes terribly, you are in prime position with draft capital to move up for Bryce Young in 2023. You can also flip the #20 QB for draft picks like the Jets did with Darnold to further build OL. Who knows? Maybe the QB you draft is solid and you’re left with tons of draft capital to address other holes. I believe Fitt can and will attempt to trade back.
  22. Agree, but a top 5 pick could really bring in Day 1/2 draft picks in a trade back scenario. Last draft, the #6 pick went for: 2021 #12, 2021 4th, and 2022 1st. The #10 pick went for: 2021 #12, 2021 3rd. That additional 1st rounder would be huge in 2023 when we may still be looking for QB/OL help.
