Well yeah but just because it can happen anywhere doesn’t mean I’m going to take them someplace where it is basically 100% going to happen when it is avoidable. And to be clear, it’s not just the language that keeps me from taking them to NFL games, it’s that plus the drunkenness, fighting, etc. We go to baseball games and other sporting events all the time, it’s just unfortunately NFL games that tend to be the worst. Once they’re teenagers we’ll probably go. Edit to add: took one of my kids to get a donut a couple days ago and had to listen to some dude cussing up a storm with his co-workers in the donut shop. It happens. Sucks but it happens. Less and less common decency and respect around these days. I can’t imagine being an adult and being vulgar around a 6 yr old in a donut shop.

I don’t know why anybody ever thought he was good. I’m convinced the only reason he still has a job is the team hoping to get that compensatory pick if a minority coach gets promoted by another team. But he’s not getting HC interviews and so far the talk of him as a hc candidate has just been all talk by the media with no real substance. He’s never fielded a top defense as a DC, and the Broncos defense got better when he left, not worse. Our defense has only gotten worse with him as a DC, despite continuing to bring in guys that he wants, his ex players from other teams, DJ Johnson, etc. Go back and watch him put Fuller one on one with the opponents top receiver last year over and over. Derwin James only had 1 interception last year on 7 passes defended, he doesn’t catch everything.

TMJ was terrible and straight up quit on routes. That definitely loses you games. You may not see it the same from the couch as the guy who actually put in effort to get open and dropped a pass, but not running your route and the QB taking a sack or giving up on a would be touchdown loses games just the same. Just saying. For all his faults, XL is light years better than TMJ.

I have my doubts, tbh. Any new bandwagon fans who are on the younger side probably won’t be looking for internet message boards. We’ll probably lose a lot of old huddlers who may have otherwise returned because the password recovery doesn’t work. Many won’t return who left for reasons other than the team sucking. Others will be driven off by the ads and system drag. But maybe somebody actually comes along and takes care of the place, that could help.

You’re just reinforcing everything I said. It’s these posters who live in the world of absolutes that have dragged the huddle into to the mud over the past few years. There is no room for normal conversation in that world. Agreed. Whenever we get to the point of everybody on fully automated and don’t need traffic lights, etc. that will be amazing. No more traffic jams. Doubt I’ll be alive to see it and maybe we’ll be flying cars by then anyways, but it’s really cool to think about.

I personally think it has more to do with the few constantly negative posters and those who really only care about being right about draft/player evaluations. Those were unfortunately empowered so much that it drove away people who wanted to have hope and talk about more than “x player sucks”. The board has become overrun by a sense that it’s cool to be negative just because the team has been bad for a few years. We can’t even band together in mutual hatred and disrespect for other teams, players, or division rivals because somebody will inevitably try to harsh the vibe by reminding you that the Panthers have been bad so we have no room to talk about anybody. Reading about our own team on this forum often feels no different than if you were reading about the Panthers on a Saints or Falcons forum. It’s cool to hate your own team, owner, gm, coach, qb, wrs, etc. If you want to do something else, we’ll create a separate thread for you so you don’t interrupt our whining.
