Regarding smarts & leadership, there's always a certain level of intangibles that are impossible to tell if they truly translate at the next level. Basically, there's one thing with being a leader on a college team, there's another being a 21-23 year old stepping into a locker room of dudes from 22 to their late 30s and getting them to respect you, your skills, and lead them to wins. It's that toughness and respect added onto the skills that makes the top QBs. It's always a blend of things coming together but those two are the unquestionable ones no matter the style or build. Whether it's a 6'1 200 guy with a great arm or a 6'5 240 with mobility or anywhere in between. And that's when I think you need the staff that can ask the right questions and identify who that is. Not these ones that go gaga over the stats, 40 times, or whatever. Those of course matter to a degree, but I don't feel comfortable we've got guys that can truly identify an NFL caliber leader both mentally and in-game.

As long as he doesn't come here. He could be instantly successful in Pittsburgh. That fit in particular just seems really good and he could rock it with Dionte & Claypool. Or Tampa if Brady retires.

I swear, taking a step back and just looking at everything, Ridder is really appealing. Not at 6, I personally am leaning towards Charles Cross, but if there's a scenario where we can land him without mortgaging the future, I'd be fully game for it. He was my fave before I started diving into things and I've kind of come back around to him over the rest.

I wonder if it's a rumor blown out of proportion. Maybe he's like slightly under 9/around 8.75ish. I've considered myself fairly average 5'9 175 and just measured with the ruler, they're around 8.25 and I have never felt that comfortable with the football. I'd be surprised if they're really that small. Plenty of dudes in the league are in the 7s but none are handlers of the ball. Very rarely.

Something I didn't realize his hands are reportedly 8 inches. That's not just below average, that may be the smallest in prospect history and by a large margin. I think there have been some in the high 8s but they're usually panned if they're low 9s for ball grip (I.E. Burrow). That seems like a measurable if any, I imagine some teams may exclude him from their boards due to. He'll have NFL balls at his pro day. So I imagine teams will be looking if that affects his throwing but it was mentioned in the other thread, holding onto the ball under duress then become an issue. Particular because his footwork can get sloppy in those moments, the grip can only be so good at that length. Now that measurable is one that's harder to make up for versus arm length at LT. His hand is 1/3.5ths of the circumference of the NFL ball. Interesting to say the least.

I believe we had a perfect tank commander who could still sling the ball and make interesting contests in Allen. He really would’ve been the same level of player than Teddy was. A bit more aggressive. Not as bad as Darnold and a fraction of the cost. He was the ticket

I don’t think this is a down year in the draft. It’s a tough crop to figure out the best from though and I think like you in that a few will pop off and have successful careers. Ridder & Strong are my bets. Maybe Corral.

Not entirely crazy. But there are other ways without pulling a Rams (who have had the luxury to mortgage the future with a great system, coach, and SB ready squad). If just a 3rd is involved, possibly. The real question--I think we're shipping a player for a pick this offseason which will allow for something like this to go down. Which guy is that?

It’s why you want guys with high football IQs that can read and communicate pre snap. It’s why Luke Kuechly was HoF level and why he’ll likely become a great coach if he wants to.

Lose way too much scoring in that scenario. Keep Scary out and maybe we're interested but Oubre & Terry have been part of why we're winning this season. We really just need a reliable big 4/5 that can rim protect and contribute more than the Zellers and Plumlees of the world.

Find out a way to get a second 1st/high second, Howell and Ridder would be ideal. Wouldn’t be an issue to replace in 2023 with a new coach, still land a OL at 6, and they provide enough upside to be great. How this is done? I think we should consider selling DJ high right now.

I do believe Ridder developed his accuracy enough that he has a very high floor for a guy that's both athletic and has a lot of intangibles. He reminds me a bit like a bigger Kordell Stewart. Both Ridder and Howell are the two I'm coming around on to be my favorites as a late R1, high R2 target. I can see both of those guys being playoff QBs. Not seeing it with Pickett or Willis for some reason. They have the upside and most rounded games. Willis is just way too raw for my taste (So much that I'd say even a step behind Lance, and then Corral & Pickett just seem valued too highly at the moment)

Still my favorite game in our history. That whole run was just magic. And we brought it to the brink in the SB.

To actually make this worthwhile, I look at the remaining teams and they all have the best, brightest young coaches. McDermott, Taylor, McVay, & Shanahan. Food for thought. Even when they don't have a defense (Cinci) or a QB (49ers), these teams are coached up into winning squads.

Ditto. Current times are as low as they’ve been. It’s a time where I think the majority of fans would want Rhule gone even if he made the playoffs. He’s become such an unsavory coach.

This is definitely the least I've cared going into an offseason. I see nothing to look forward to next season.

First question for the McAdoo intro presser: What are your thoughts on the majority of the fanbase wanting Matt Rhule fired and the overall situation you've signed up for with no QB or OL?

Hell, the offense struggling in NYG as well mirrors this situation all too well.
