Fun fact, Montana was the player that sat out (due to injury)so that Rudy would get his chance to dress out for his final game at ND. Thus we have one hell of a movie.

I can't wait to see the mascot!

Tom Brady taking what should have been Greg Olsen's spot

I only want to hear him call out in pain! -
OOF!

Getting a capable backup at 94 would be considered a win. Getting a capable starter at 94 is a GD steal. I think that we very likely ended up with the latter, based on Simms' and others' evaluations, but we shall see. I whole-heartedly admit that I have never watched an Ole Miss game.

I think that he has the highest ceiling of the 3 that were available, even if he wasn't the most ready to play. He'll take some rookie lumps in pass protection against the speed rush, but DAMN, I can't wait to see CMC running behind him! Line Tremble up on that side as well and it's going to be pure carnage in the run game!

I hear ya, but that's money already spent, we ain't getting it back. Let him earn it by taking the beating while the new O-line gels and Corral and Icky get used to NFL speed football.

20-0 baby!

Also worth noting that he was a decent return guy at Oklahoma before he transferred to Miami.

Corral starts week 7 Panthers have 11 wins CMC plays in 18 games. Misses 1 regular season, plays in both playoff games.

Matt Corral could've went in the first round to the Steelers
shaqattaq replied to EgoDogg's topic in Carolina Panthers
The report only says that the Steelers had a rd 1 grade on him, but Pickett had a higher rd 1 grade. It could have worked the same for us , for example, we could have had a late rd 1 grade on him but not a #6. I think that most folks would now agree that no QB had a top 10 grade. Who really knows unless they were in the draft rooms. Edit: FWIW, I was a proponent of Corral or Howell in Rd 2 if we traded back in rd 1, so I'm pretty happy to get him at #94. -
I'm interested in seeing a healthy Sam behind a good line in preseason. If he succeeds, he'll probably start week 1. Letting Corral ease into it is best for everyone, if Sam can play well enough to be a space holder.
-
At least his hands are big enough to grip a 40! They have trulys in Pittsburgh, right??
-
as long as we don't have to play him, I'm good.

Sorry bout that, I tried to "suck it in.

Is he still around???

I assume this is the real reason we let Reddick walk instead of signing him early.

Round 6 Pick 189: Amaré Barno, EDGE, Virginia Tech
shaqattaq replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
FYI, he did play linebacker in HS per the OP VT played him at LB also according to nfl.com. ST gunner was the first thing that jumped into my mind when I read his profile and saw all that speed! -
About 11 minutes in, and they're looking at a fake to the RB in the flat to open up the WR. How sick is that going to be with CMC?!? You pretty much have to bring a CB down off the WR because CMC will make most LB's look stupid.

I agree that unless Corral blows Sam out of the water in camp, Sam will start week 1. Rhule and company have invested too much in him not to see how he performs behind a much improved line. It's also probably not a bad idea to let your 3rd round rookie eases himself into the NFL.

Most of the media is just regurgitating what someone else in the media already said. AND they appear to be looking more at need than actual talent available at the pick. Plus, QB's make headlines, they're the lead singers of the football world. Also, Howell probably decided to be a pretty good QB in a weak draft than a pretty good QB in next year's strong draft.

He is until he isn't. Corral hasn't taken a single practice snap as a panther yet.

(*probably fake news*) Panthers turned down a trade offer last night.
shaqattaq replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Total guess, but I could see GB making that offer. They had picks 22 and 28, and went DT with pick 28. Seems reasonable in that we could have grabbed our QB on a 5year deal, but our Dline would be terrible without Brown, so I see the reasoning behind passing on the deal. Again, This is all just random speculation with me AND Walter football.
