Point given.

I'd say that for almost all teams, the Super Bowl is such a rare happening that almost any appearance there is an outlier.
-
Every year, one team loses the Super Bowl. And the pundits roll out about how terrible of a coach that team has, or what a group of over achievers they were and that they were bound to come crashing down. And yanno what? It's total bullshit. And in this case, it's really bullshit. They had the champs on the ropes and took them not just to the final bell, but into overtime. And they scored first in overtime, taking a field goal because the other team was the world champs for a reason. And then, they couldn't hold off Patrick Mahomes and one of the best assembled teams in recent history. Yes, they lost. But they aren't the losers, including their HC (and DC, too) are being made out to be. It was a good game, well fought and narrowly lost. Let that be the history, not this race to the bottom, hot takes punditry that ruins every fuging thing.

I do believe that a smart team spends at least one draft pick and picks up at least one free agent lineman each year that they believe can make the team. They don't have to be world beaters or top end free agents, but there should be a bit of new blood at all times... but just a bit and ones not directly aimed at supplanting starters. Now if one shows out and is obviously worthy of the spot, then it's an earn it situation for sure. You should always be planting seeds for the long haul, but you can't just keep going in and plowing up the orchard before the trees have a chance to bear fruit, yanno?

There's a lot of wisdom in this. Working as a team is imperative for an offensive line to become good pass blockers. I mean they really, really have to gel. And with the injuries and rookies last season, they never had a chance (plus bad coaching and play designs). It takes time to develop cohesion between the linemen and with the QB and RB to make everything work out. Stability is what this franchise has been lacking for years, so maybe it's time to not just build the foundation but give it time to cure and age properly. We have some very good stones to build with and a lot of youth to shore it up in times of need.

The analytics of our analytics work over the years shows abject and utter failure in that department. I have never seen anyone put so much work into being wrong so many times over such a long period. It's as if he had bought an analysis program that had been compiled to give the exact opposite results that it should have. The average fantasy football dweeb rookie would have hit on more success than he would have. He should return some of Tepper's money.

Breaking Down the Shrewed moves that Built the Carolina Panthers
Khyber53 replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don't forget the cost of Sam Darnold trade, too. We gave up a 2021 sixth rounder and second and fourth round picks in 2022. Darnold will be the back up QB for the 49ers in this year's Super Bowl and could end up with a Super Bowl ring. Man, it was just a massive pile of giveaways for nothing. -
Oh, and if he does, then Sam Darnold and Steve Wilks will get SB rings, too. Let's let that settle in.
-
The guy gave everything he had when he was on the field here, best player we had in each of those games. He got traded and set free. It wasn't his fault we sucked so badly. Best wishes to the guy and I hope he gets at least this ring.

NFL Honors: Panthers front and center
Khyber53 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Great receivers generally have longer careers than other football greats. It creates an unintentional logjam, but there's an overall logjam of players in general because of the small number who are recognized. Still, it should be hard to get into the Hall of Fame. And Steve Smith should definitely been in already... it's as if our team's advocate/presenter either isn't very good at it or is soft playing the guy. The reasons for his induction are on tape... miles and miles of tape. Edit to add: That being said, Julius Peppers is definitely one of the biggest game changers to ever walk onto an NFL field. He deserved that first ballot induction like no other. What a phenomenal athlete and fellow. -
Latest video I did. Was this guy a serial killer or did he just happen to have the gun in question at the wrong time?

Is this true? Can anyone confirm?

This ^. With enough money you can get away with anything. And these folks have way, way, way more than enough. It is best to go on and live our lives without thinking about them and what kind of real power they have in this world. They should be treated like tornados... forces of nature that are really interesting until one is in your back yard. Sadly, right now, we have one in our back yard and it will be there until it is good and ready to move on and kick over someone else's trailer home. -
Heavy weighs the crown and long is the wait for a ring. Stick with the program he helped build, see it to a championship, let Campbell take the praise and the pundits. Grow your reputation while your young family builds a home for themselves. He's going to be fine. And he wasn't coming here anyway. So, onward.

I think even a great QB works best with a power running game. For reference, please see Pacheco and McCaffrey in the Super Bowl. Both guys are excellent power runners and the threat of them as such gives each QB perfect play-action pass situations. Dang, I wish we had CMC back, but there were these idiots...

I want to be optimistic and it's a good time to be so, with nothing going on and nothing to lose. Let's see how things go up to and through the draft. That may show us an awful lot of where we're going. We have few chips in the game, but maybe they can make something happen. But let's quit shopping for big name receivers at the end of their careers. That's not the move teams that are trying to build for the future do. We need our scouts to be out there looking for draft steals and checking for second and third string players that are undiscovered gems.

It wasn't Diggs' best year, that's for sure. They said he drew a lot of attention from defensive schemes and that kept him in check. And that may well be true, but... Every team that has played the Bills for years now has been on the lookout and tried to game plan to take Diggs away from Buffalo. Every year. And in the past, he was able to break past the double teams and schemes. Something tells me either he has been nursing an injury or perhaps time and accumulated hits have caught up to him. $20 million is a lot to pay to find out...
-
There's no way to tell, really. Every one of these teams was a trainwreck, and behind the scenes each may be as bad as our own was. Harbaugh was the biggest get on paper, but Herbert has also supposed to have been the best QB of recent time... on paper. Overall, he's got the biggest resume going into the season. The rest... we'll have to see. And maybe Washington is getting a better prepared Dan Quinn than when he last was HC of the Falcons. And maybe not... he's going to have Falcon level players this time and that can be pretty rough. Our guy, I just hope he can break the streak here.

But I thought the Huddle line was that Cam took us to the Super Bowl with a bunch of scrubs riding on his back, no weapons, no line, no coaching.

Why carolina can not* afford to lose Burns
Khyber53 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
This ^100%. It's not that he's not really, really good, it's just that he needs a running mate or he just gets washed out of the game. He's the perfect complimentary pass rusher and can beat a single lineman with speed and bend like no other. Single linemen. He's not blowing through double teams and wrecking plays every time the other team drops back to pass. He'd make the perfect Edge2 along the line and I'd be all for keeping him if we could pay him that way. Putting him at top of the league in pay, though, is disastrous for us. -
Did the panthers lose on the CMC trade?
Khyber53 replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've been saying all year that chances are best that CMC, Sam Darnold and Steve Wilks would have a Super Bowl Ring before we even made it to the playoffs. Wow, that was fast, but there ya go. One more game. -

Especially in light of what followed him here. Just in comparison alone he deserves some credit.
