  1. Keep POUNDING!!! How did we let the team forget that?
  2. This is more than the old jumbo packages. Maybe these are the mumbo jumbo packages?
  3. Considering the amount of rust he had to have built up, I'm thinking he's doing better than expected. He's probably no sort of long term answer, but if they open up the play book a bit more for him and he keeps playing clean, then I wouldn't be against him returning next season as our back-up QB. I really want to see what Matt Corral can do.
  4. The team seems to be making their opinion of Wilks known on the field, if not in the media. There's a lot to say for a coach when it is obvious the team will go to war for him. Still, let's ride this season out and see what we have. There is a chance that at the end, we may be competing with another team for Wilks as HC. We would be foolish to rule that out at this point.
  5. By the time that pass was officially caught, I could have sworn it went down his shirt, around his waist and then shot out of his sock. That was just crazy. When crazy things start going your way, it kinda makes you wonder if maybe karma is paying us back for the last three years...
  6. Those extra linemen in on a semi-regular basis are making a huge impact on the games, no pun intended. We are just clobbering the other d-line and linebackers with them. And sooner or later, one of those big boys is going to sneak out on a pass play since they are having to report in as eligible receivers every time. Just the possibility of that puts some weird wrinkles into defending us.
  7. This one if a toss up. I think we're stronger than we've been but that is a loooong trip to a hostile stadium. Panthers 24 -17. Let's win one.
  8. It's going to be a remarkably competitive game. We are a different team than we used to be, but so are the Seahawks.
  9. Good for him, I hope he shows out and gets himself a good starting gig or a good back up role. He came here and did what we really needed for him to do... he got Rhule fired. His time here did a lot for our future.
  10. Shut down corners are unicorns, nearly myths. There may be one or two in the league at any given time. There are a handful of excellent corners who can work in zone or man, quietly sealing off a portion of the field and erasing a part of the opposing team's game plan. Chris Gamble, back in the day, was the silent assassin doing that work and getting little praise for it. Jaycee ain't far from that and he's still learning. I'm not worried about Jaycee in the least. I'm actually enjoying how he is developing AND showing out at the same time. Good young man, good player. Glad we've got him.
  11. Just can't seem to muster up a lot of rivalry feelings about them right now. Our team has been such a joke for the last three or four years that it has taken a lot of it away.
  12. Well, kinda surprised me, but good luck to him. There are some teams out there that would be willing to roll the dice. Coaching here was bad and it certainly didn't help that he had some obvious issues on his own. We've got a spot open in the QB room, here's hoping some deserving guy will get a chance.
  13. There's a lot a smart man can learn from being in a situation like Wilks was in Arizona. If you wanted an abject lesson in how NOT to run an organization, the Cardinals have produced volumes worth of examples. Right now, I'm still not completely sold on Wilks staying on as HC here. I do, however, view his experience at Arizona as a plus in growing the man's understanding of the game and team building. He certainly seems like a more experienced and sturdy coach than he was before. Some of the greatest coaches in the game had a lousy first outing as a head coach. Bill Belichick's Browns certainly come to mind. Still, let's see how this season plays out. And it doesn't have to be just about wins, although that would be nice. I need to keep seeing a team out there that looks like it knows what it is doing and is motivated and aggressive. You know, the exact opposite of the Rhule-led team.
  14. This season has become so crazy that I'm really interested in seeing how things turn out. I see us winning out and losing out at about the same odds. And everything in between is just as in play. I really want to see us win big and win often, I'd love for Steve Wilks to pull out a miracle here.
  15. The man needs help and I hope he gets it. The system, however, is set up to not treat someone who has the wherewithal to refuse it and to shun those who are unable to pay. It is a massively complex problem with no easy answers. In his case, he has enough money and people to shelter him from his actions that he may never get real help. And someday, he will hurt someone, and/or himself, very badly.
  16. We've had one game with him. He won it and that's great. Stat-wise it was a pedestrian performance, but that looks good for how we've been. He led the team on the field and there was a different attitude out there. He found the receivers that needed to be found. But it was just one game. Let's see the rest of the season before we jump the shark, again. If over the next few weeks he somehow reaches the potential that he once had when he was drafted, then yeah, sign him to a short, moderately priced contract with incentives. If he wins just a couple more and does like this past week, then you offer him a modest backup QB contract and see what we have in Corral. If he does like all of the others QBs this season, then you ride this season out, hand all three starters an apple and bus ticket and move into tomorrow with Corral and whoever he will compete with. It is Darnold's spot to earn, but the cost to him will be high. He's going to have to be aggressive, fearless and a leader of men. He has a steep hill to climb to reach those things, but there is literally no one standing in his way except himself. This is the best opportunity to make it or break it he will ever get in the sport again. Good luck to him. TL;DR: If so, he's going to have to Jake Delhomme the hell out of this to win the spot.
  17. Meh, I didn't like him from the beginning, but what he's saying there has some merit. Still, who doesn't think there's a need to win immediately at the NFL level? Good luck to him in Nebraska. We've got a lot of work to do around here thanks to him and we can't spend more time on him than we already have. Time for us to quit renting him space in our hearts and minds.
  18. Always play to win. Make a run at the division. Get a seat at the table, we could get lucky once we get there. Crazier sh!t has happened before.
  19. I don't know, he said he loved Wilks twice in the interview and said it wasn't his call to make. Then he played coy. I think y'all are trying to read much more into it than what he said.
