  1. If we threw a 1 year prove it deal to him, I'd be all in. But we won't and he wouldn't. Someone will overpay for him and maybe we'll get that team's second choice and be better off for it.
  2. Pay the guards while the QB is young and on the cost effective contract. Develop your tackles along with him at similar rates. When the QB and tackles are reaching their contract years, it's time to swap out the guards for cheaper draftees that can be coached up by the (now)vets alongside them. And you grab the best Center you can find, whenever and wherever you can find them. Or so to the way I was taught.
  3. Okay, I understand. I originally was defense only because, well, it's frikkin obvious we need it. He's literally the only offensive player I'd take first, simply because of how he could vastly improve our entire offense. That's why I've been pounding on the table for him to be our pick... I really believe this guy is going to be a generational talent at the position. Also, look at the defensive depth in this class, particularly on the line and at LB. I think we can make this move to give Bryce that extra tool in the bag AND still improve on a defense that needs to get younger AND more aggressive.
  4. If Tyler's there at 8, sprint to the podium, take him and roll on. Of not, go back to taking the best DE in the draft.
  5. I always hate to see a team spend big bucks on a free agent safety. I just think it's a position that's more cost effective to build in house.
  6. I mean, I don't really hate it. I just think there will be a real game breaker sitting at 8.
  7. Do you feel that shedding linemen can be a taught skill?
  8. This ^. I think he has the chance to be something special and he might have the insight that you need in leading a defense. Maybe not quite what Luke had, but then again, he grew up with his Dad being a DC at the college level -- he's going to see the game from a different angle than others, he will understand the strategies. Me, I'm hoping he's there for us in the second round. Or if we trade back late in the first because some of our bigger hitters are gone at 8. I think this guy has a chance at being a long-time, leadership type piece for whatever team grabs him. Smart, high character, student of the game players always, always make good draft picks.
  9. So, we've got a new video up. This one is a tough one, but I needed to write it so that it got across the message as to just how flimsy protective orders are. I also wanted to show how one of the police officers did everything he could for all of the people involved, truly embodying the "Protect and Serve" credo. Let me know what you think of it. We put a lot of work into these.
  10. One of our best tacklers last season was Jaycee Horn. Yeah, that Jaycee. The fragile guy. Only guy sometimes on that defense that was trying.
  11. We just desperately need someone who can wrap up and tackle. And 10 more of them. We had damn few of them last season.
  12. Grab Warren if he's available at #8 and run with it. There will be quality defenders still on the board in the second and later rounds.
  13. Let's get a performance extension first. The last half of the prior season was an eye-opener and a hope maker, but can it be repeated in 2025? But with wins?
  14. Just thinking about Gene Hackman in The Replacements explaining his addition of a sumo wrestler to the offensive line. Appropriate considering the news today.
  15. Let's allow someone else to deal with that. We don't have time to stop building this house to see if we can get the warp out of a 2x4. Again.
  16. And this, right here, probably fixes a lot of problems on the list. Except for locker rooms and grass on the field.
  17. This is the guy I've been saying we need. If he's still there at 8 sprint to the podium and call his name. We have a lot, a lot of needs on defense, and we aren't going to get it fixed in the first pick. Grab Warren at 8 and then go straight to defense from there on out, this is a deep class for DT and Edge. Warren will be a generational talent at TE, a game breaker, something we desperately need. And if we don't snag him, then New Orleans will with the very next pick and we will have to face the guy twice a year from here on out.
  18. Live action on Netflix was pretty fun, too.
  19. USA on Peacock/Hulu doesn't work. Been trying to watch Smackdown there for a while and you get the first 15 minutes then it cuts out. They have some kind of agreement that you can't view USA through any non-cable company or YouTube. Streaming of the channel isn't happening. Now old crappy stuff from there, sure!
  20. The guy was a first rate Panther and it saddens me to see him headed elsewhere. Injuries have been terrible for him these last two years and we can see how his absence affected the team's play. Morgan will have to find his replacement in the draft and follow the line that he himself was part of. Draft the best linebacker in the league once again. Wish I knew who that was going to be, but surely Morgan, TD and Luke can sit down and figure it out amongst themselves.
  21. If we took all seven picks on the D-line I wouldn't bat an eye. With the old men on the edges we have now and the rather lackluster performance other than Brown in the center, we could just take every young talent we can grab and then just run them into the battle in cycles until one catches on. Sounds crazy at first, but we have no real edge and no real depth either. Having a bunch of youngsters on cheap contracts with few injuries and low-mileage motors might be the biggest thing we've ever done in a long time.
  22. Hard to argue against this, but then again, sometimes even the lowliest billionaire can't help but look enviously, perhaps slavishly at the biggest ones.
