  1. 2004, Brees’s best year as a Charger his completion % was 65.5. He obviously improved on that in NO 2018, Bakers best completion % was 63.8. Granted, it has dipped and gone back up again since then. Forget about Rhule for now, are you telling me McAdoo couldn’t do jackshit to help Baker improve his game this year? And I don’t want to hear anymore bullshit about Matt Corral
  2. You’re comparing Baker’s current career to Brees’s full career. I compared Baker’s first 4 seasons vs Brees’s first 5. Baker has room for improvement
  3. I was very critical of the Baker signing, but I now have one foot on the bandwagon. We already know that we’re screwed out of a top 2023 pick, so why not hope Baker pans out?
  4. I mentioned the coaching disadvantage, but if Rhule is fired and Baker plays well enough, he probably stays.
  5. I know everyone here hates Drew Brees (myself included), but there’s no doubt he was a great AFC QB that brought a new winning era to a downtrodden NFCS team and made them annual playoff contenders. Baker could be that for us. If you look up Bree’s San Diego stats before NO and Baker’s Cleveland stats before CAR, they are comparable (Baker’s are actually better btw). Drew Brees - 6’0” -5 seasons -59 games -12,348 yards -80 TDs -53 INTs Baker Mayfield - 6’1” -4 seasons -60 games -14,125 yards -92 TDs -56 INTs I know these are different eras for the passing game, but I’d say this is at least encouraging for Baker’s prospects of being a franchise QB here. Also, Baker is at a much larger disadvantage with HC, but let’s see what happens.
  6. McCall has earned his spot on the 53 as far as I’m concerned
