If We Don't Win Another Game. Do We Make Any Trades??
Waldo replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
Drafting poorly and wasting that capital is why they have a talentless roster. -
Not going to see a FB with DC's offense. This. He is running someone else's offense and he has the tendencies to get away from what he should be doing for what he wants to do. He got put into a corner fast 2 weeks ago but ran just enough yesterday to keep it close enough to still be running in the 4th. It's very meh when you take the highs and lows together IMO. I keep waiting for the light to come on with him but he keeps doing that exact same thing you said over and over. I think that's just who he is and it's why he will hit a wall if he can't change that aspect of his coaching.

A good QB on a rookie contract would fix a lot of things. Not enough to make this team a contender obviously but enough to be more competitive and build around. That's the 2 year swing in the NFL. Get a good QB and build around him and you can turn it around dramatically in 2 years.
-
He was always a throw first guy. He didn't run enough in Tampa either. It's an ongoing issue with him and his style IMO.
-
Just put Young on IR. He isn't it and we have wasted enough games with him to know exactly who he is in the NFL. He isn't the future. He is a mistake they still have to deal with.
-
20 to 25. Just run the damn ball. It's obviously a team that is built for the run to setup the pass but the HC still thinks it's the other way around.

This organization fuging sucks. I hate this team

I was hoping DC could fend that off with guys being given a chance and actually scoring offensive TDs. I was assuming it's going to take some bad Ls for that. That's like turning the Titanic into Chernobyl. -

When Andy goes down and they trot Young out there then it's going to get worse again. The team isn't good but guys are being given a chance to improve themselves. That's as good as this year was ever going to get and it can still go back to the big suck at any time. -
When they put Bryce back in later this year the Brown's mistakes won't matter because even the dogshit product they put out today will be the good old days again.

So far meh. He isn't a bad playcaller and he isn't good. His play designs can be effective and at other times it's a deadend play that should be scrapped. He still comes off to me as a decent OC who would do better with a HC that makes him go agaisnt his usual more often. As a HC he looks really inexperienced. I loved Byce being sat but I have no confirmation of the actual details. I think hebcould also do better with a better GM vs his friend. He just comes of as a new guy that needs an old hand to know when to say no or change it up to me.

I need to see better game plans and a lot more Hubbard for me to believe. Getting behind early is just going to put themselves in a corner again and that's a blowout regardless of the divisional rivals stuff.
-
Divisional rivals so the games are usually tougher and more unpredictable. They should cook us. Thomas is back so the loss feels like a lock. It's going to be an empty house. No one wants those tickets. Combine that with a blowout and the heat should be turned up even with Dalton playing at an NFL level. Evero has to get some pressure with someone. He can't go an entire game with 1 or 2 hurries or less. DC has to call a better game. He allowed the DC to dictate his play calling and that was pathetic. I'm watching because it's free on TV and I can do something else fun so it's not a complete waste of time. I just hope someone steps up somewhere on this team. Wallace and BC at OC would be a mercy.

Another great lesson in draft the player and not the school or their record. That crap is just practice and their opponents are just practice. 'But who did he play'? Nobody because they are all not in the NFL so it's just different levels of nobodies with some NFL talent sprinkled in. That's just college fan BS at the NFL level.

With the different QBs it's evident it looks worse with Young because of Youngs faults. It happens less with a QB that can step up in the pocket. He still is going to get beat from time to time but that's part of being a LT. They aren't likely to find anything better anytime soon. He has plenty to work on but it's not been bad since Young was benched.

Can't use week 1 or 2 to clearly grade Icky. Protecting Young is about impossible due to his playing style. That's why Icky wasn't credited for sacks last year on guys he was blocking. When a QB holds the ball that long and runs out of protection as often as Young does it's not on the blocker at that point. If you can see a 7 step drop then it's on the QB at that point for terrible technique. When you see a 7 step drop in spread then you have a guy who is trying to get himself killed. Go look at the last 3 games and do a real evaluation with Dalton under center. He still has stuff to work on and he may never be more than just good but just good is enough to not worry about on this roster.

2 NFL QBs and a bust. I can't wait until all of that is just an old nightmare dulled by time.
-
Sanders could make it or he could end up another project that never comes close to his potential. It's not going to be this year and I'm not expecting next year being more than an improvement but it should shed light on how his development is going. The standard right now is Thomas who isn't good in the passing game and his blocking isn't much better. Once Thomas is back out there Meh-ing it up it should give him some time and a very catchable goal to chase.

Me either on the freaking out part, none of that please. No big move on the personnel side is going to un-fug what they have done and what came before. It's just obvious Evero is out here either way here, they already blocked him and he can't be happy right now ruining his career while he isn't turning this around. That's a dead man waiting already, fair or unfair he is getting scapegoated at some point looking at all the angles on this trajectory. It's likely to buy DC and DM time but I would just be happy doing that soon vs then to get started at evaluations from another angle. Just getting a little more out of what is here would be a win, like miniscule or just noticeable change. A well run no talent D would be a positive change IMO. He wasn't installing his D well when people were healthy. They had one good series on Sunday and then it looked like no talent mixed with bad coaching the rest of the time with guys dropping along the way. And I'm embracing the suck regardless. I can say what I want to see but I fully expect it to stay in the suck until it stops. I am done with optimism when it comes to the Panthers until who knows when. Sorry if I gave those vibes but I would love to burn that house down, drown the ashes in bleach and let someone else build anything else in it's place.

It not over because they can't just forfeit the rest of the games. Same take when young was playing and people said there was no reason to play Dalton. Well turns out there were reasons even if winning isn't one of them. I look at this the same way. Evero is part of the problem, he isn't building a damn thing here, he already wanted out and it would be good to get a look without him. A couple more games like the last one and it's even justified.
-
Maybe they can raid other PSs and find some upgrades. Tjat seems plausable given their aquisition choices. I also don't know how they can make this less of a desirable spot either. It was alread at the pay premiums to have anyone come here anyways. Given it's Tepper's money I'm not against him wasting more of it.
-
Love Cam but I have always disliked that show. Yikes
-
Not yet for sure but if they can bring someone in short term to try and squeeze any positives out of that unit after a few more weeks of the coaching we saw on Sunday then I wouldn't be against it. That's not even scapegoating, it's just getting a better evaluation on a guy who is obviously going to get fired anyways. The season was over before it started, some people just couldn't see that either. I know you were not one of those. I just don't see why you can't see the value in a different angle of evaluation by moving on from Evero if this continues. It doesn't fix anything but it does give a wider evaluation to the guys here by handing it over to someone else and saying 'do something, do anything' with that unit for the back half of the season. Evero was coaching down to DC's level on Sunday. Both had 12 man penalties, both had a bad game strategy and both didn't adjust squat that I could see (I know it's me and that bar isn't high). There is no way a DC on a historically bad D isn't part of the problem. That should be obvious. In season firing seems justifiable if he can't coach up guys to just look talentless and not talentless while also being poorly coached.

It really wasn't. Offenses scored at will. With the bad field position and Young led offense they didn't need more yards. That was always a mirage and not an achievement. If they needed more they wouldn't have taken their foot off the gas in so many games so early. Also some of those guys left because they didn't want to return here which also says something...
