  1. Tepper deserves plenty of criticism, but not for firing Reich. That had to be done.
  2. I agree, but Fitterer is by no means the first experienced executive to get a GM job and fail horribly. This is what I meant in that other thread last week when I said I legitimately think there are fans out there who could do a better job than many NFL GMs. I think sometimes these NFL scouts and executives over-analyze draft prospects, which leads to major mistakes. I also think ego is a major factor, as it is with practically every aspect of every organization.
  3. It happens all the time. Certainly Tepper has made things worse with his meddling, but I promise you it ain't Tepper continually whiffing on mid-late round draft picks, leaving us with little to no depth. Tepper has no doubt pushed for certain moves (the trade-up, the Watson chase, a few others) but Fitterer is absolutely to blame for his own piss poor draft record and free agent busts.
  4. I don't blame him. He's probably right to think that. Most interim HC's don't end up getting hired.
  5. He needs to be gone ASAP. We need to have a new GM in place when we begin the next coaching search. I don't have a big issue with giving Reich the rest of the season, but we don't need to be looking for a GM and HC at the same time if we can help it. Get the GM lined up by season's end so that he can assist in the HC search.
  6. I disagree with this. HC jobs are hard enough to come by that there will always be interested candidates. There are more aspiring head coaches than openings 100% of the time. The trick is finding the right guy. The hot candidates aren't always the best candidates. Plus Tepper has deep pockets, so I'm sure if he really wants someone he can pay them what it takes to get them to sign. The larger issue is GM. Ideally we should fire Fitterer ASAP and use the rest of the season to find his replacement, then get his input on who the next coach should be. Generally speaking it's actually harder to find a quality GM than a quality HC.
  7. I think a lot of it has to do with the lack of NFL-ready OL coming into the league. We're not the only team having OL issues at all; I'd say half the league suffers from sub-par OL play on a regular basis.
  8. This article isn't wrong, but firing Reich wouldn't be either. Good owners know when to get involved and when to step back. Tepper needs to fire Reich and Fitterer, hire a firm to conduct a search for their replacements and then get the hell out of the way.
  9. This is what we need to do a GoFundMe for to put on a billboard as close as possible to BoA Stadium.
  10. I don't know, at this rate the whole 2023 team will still be on I.R. by then.
  11. So is it a torn ACL or something else?
  12. Huh? Corbett signed his deal in free agency.
  13. I'm kind of surprised the numbers project to look even that good.
  14. I'd be happy with Kellen Moore, Bobby Slowick, Ben Johnson, or Wes Phillips. Tepper had the right idea wanting to hire an offensive coach, he just picked the worst one imaginable.
  15. I fully expect him to get the Washington job once Rivera is fired, unfortunately.
  16. I don't recall a lot of buzz regarding Parsons as a pass rusher. He was viewed as an off-ball linebacker.
  17. Again, not just any random fan off a message board. But there are fans out there who are knowledgeable enough to do better than some GMs. I think they'd need someone to help with the salary cap side of things and maybe with the actual negotiations until they gained some experience, but in terms of deciding what players to bring in, draft and trade for I have no doubt there are fans who could do a better job then many GMs.
  18. I legitimately think there are fans out there who could do a better job than 1/3 of the GMs in the NFL. I'm not saying just any fan off the street, but there are some very knowledgeable fans out there who watch film and really know the game and could probably build a better roster than some GMs. It'd make for an interesting realty show. I can see it now: Hard Knocks: GM Edition. One fan gets hired by their favorite team to be the GM for 3 years. At the end of that time they'll either be fired or extended based on the results. Would be a hell of a lot more interesting than what Tepper and co. are putting on the field these days.
  19. This. The OL was playing well last year. This is a scheme/fit issue and is 100% on Reich.
  20. Yes, but this has apparently happened before with Reich in San Diego and Indy. Was it always because of this?
  21. Brings new meaning to Dalton being called the "red rifle."
  22. I don't know about that. Half the time it's like the line just collapses immediately.
