Can someone write me up a nice little summary of the past week
Stuart Smith replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Keeping Zane Gonzalez, letting Eddy Pineiro explore his options. -
I wish.

Stroud should be the Panthers Pick, the majority of Panther fans and the national media would be surprised if he was not the pick. However, It is smart not to telegraph this yet. With 40 days before the draft anything could happen to a draft pick to diminish his value. It is not likely, but an unknown character concern could surface, an injury, auto accident, etc.

Last year it was the hands.

Panthers showing interest in RB Jamaal Williams
Stuart Smith replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Foreman can do as well as he did last year at a reasonable price tag I would like to keep him. I understand you have to manage the cap, but when we can retain players who have performed well as a Panther I wish we could keep them. I know it is a business and sometimes we don’t know all the facts. -
Why didn’t they just trade for the 4th spot to begin with and not give up Moore. The Panthers are going to use the #1.
-
I hate to give up on Corral before he even gets a chance.
-
We do not need Odell with a rookie quarterback.

Food for thought on The Trade and the Pick.
Stuart Smith replied to Doc Holiday's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree with this. However, I think there are more reasons not to announce the chosen pick yet. Even though the Panthers may be locked in on a player, a lot can happen in 46 days. An accident, injury or character issue could rear its ugly head. These players have been vetted and this appears very unlikely, but this early it is wise to be cautious. -
The key is if you truly like 2 players equally. I find it hard to believe that at the end of 45 days and many conversations the brain trust of the Panthers will not have a consensus on who they want at #1.
-
If you have done the work to get your guy be very careful. Trading to the number 2 pick to gain a pick could backfire if you don’t control it.

For the first time in a while I trust the staff too. The biggest win of all was assembling this coaching staff.

Confused Why Some Seem to Think We Got Fleeced
Stuart Smith replied to Daddy_Uncle's topic in Carolina Panthers
It depends on how you want to view it. The 1st this year was really a pick swap as we went from pick #9 to pick #1. Also the 61st this year. -
You have to trust the evaluations of the current coaching staff. This an’t Rhule.

Why do we have negative Nancy’s about trading for #1?
Stuart Smith replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Exactly! -
OK some of you capologist…how much does DJ Moore being gone free up on the salary cap? Gotta sign a receiver now.

Thinking about a replacement for Moton is far from laughable. He is only one of 5 players in the last 4 years in the NFL who has played every down. Sooner or later he will probably end that streak. The OP is correct in assessing where we Need to build. Investing in the quarterback whoever it might be would be foolish without having offensive line depth to protect the quarterback.
-
Don’t forget “can play multiple positions.”

There was a definite improvement in Sam’s performance. The New Orleans game was ugly, but we still won. He seemed to know when to throw the ball away instead of forcing the ball and getting a turnover. I would rather have him as a place holder for a young quarterback that anyone like Brissette.

Starting quarterbacks NFC South 2023
Stuart Smith replied to Stuart Smith's topic in Carolina Panthers
You are probably right. -
New Orleans- Derek Carr Atlanta-Lamar Jackson Tampa Bay-Kyle Trask (and a tank) Carolina-CJ Stroud Very different looking NFC South…..How wrong am I?
