So... Sam Darnold. Are you encouraged or discouraged
NAS replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Were we watching the same game? I came away thinking his arm looks stronger than I expected. Maybe in comparison to early Cam not the same but it looked very elite to me. Also his release was quicker than I expected. -
Start him!

Good feels, but we see the elephant in the room
NAS replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree O Line was pushed around by the Steelers backups, although they were blitzing. On the bright side, our receivers were able to get separation for quick passes by Darnold who did a good job not holding onto the ball too long. The concern is that against the starters, it would have been much worse and that offensive line would have really struggled. -

Encouraging overall, he still suffers from some Jets PTSD but the only way to get over it is to have the type of game he had in the second quarter. Well done Sam! -

Too early to judge, we need to see what he does with Darnold and the offense this year. However, I was really impressed with how he spoke to the media this week and think if he can prove himself this year, he won't be an OC for long, but a head coach.

I really like the way he operates. It's too early to judge him yet but I think he has shown a lot of promise and I trust him way more than I ever trusted Hurney or Gettleman

Official Pittsburgh Steelers at Carolina Panthers Gameday Thread
NAS replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Godspeed Sam Darnold, if you don’t get a perfect passer rating this place will go into meltdown -
I don't mind the dinking and dunking as a way to open opportunities and take shots down the field. That's what Brees did to us for years even when he didn't have the biggest arm. With Darnold, we have an opportunity to make some big plays with DJ, Robby, Terrence and Shi being a potential downfield threat on any given play.
-
I don't know why anyone would have a problem with this trade. It's a low risk move (conditional pick) for a young kicker with high potential.

Did the Panthers practice yesterday, how did Sam do?

Panthers are trading LB Denzel Perryman to the Las Vegas Raiders
NAS replied to AndrewLaskoski's topic in Carolina Panthers
We already traded for one -
What realistic player would you trade DJ for?

I hope someone gave him a hard time about wearing Bills gear last week

They talk a lot of crap against Panthers in general. I think they’re really hoping Darnold doesn’t turn it around with the Panthers so they can feel less miserable as a fanbase. https://forums.jetnation.com/topic/160969-camp-confidential-training-camp-all-access-revealed-episode-1-carolina-panthers/?do=findComment&comment=5033737

He could have started with never having back to back winning seasons

Teddy Bridgewater named starter over Drew Lock
NAS replied to @bonafidebanter's topic in Carolina Panthers
Teddy is useless. We’re paying his salary this year so I don’t want him to do well -
Maybe because he has a lot of young players on the roster. Hopefully he will adjust as he grows into the NFL role.
-
Kind of off topic, but I don't think they should award pro bowl awards for Fullback anymore and need to give it to another WR position.

Per Darrin Gantt Tight end Giovanni Ricci is a fullback now, changing his number from 87 to 40. The Panthers don't have a pure fullback on the roster, and Rhule said this gives Ricci a chance to prove himself beyond his solid play on special teams. "I did that just to change the way the offensive staff looks at him," Rhule said of Ricci's switch. "He's done a good job so far. He's playing well on special teams. And if you play well on special teams, you have to find a role for guys. "We like our tight end room, and we've been searching for a fullback; we'll continue to look at other guys, but Gio has a chance to help us."
