  1. I don't have it in my heart to really care what the players think. Find a different occupation if you don't like the NFL. However, as a fan, I'm concerned. We already see instances nearly every year where end of season games don't mean anything and starters are rested. With more games, I can see even more instances of "Oh, this game doesn't matter, send in the scrubs" That's where things get into weird territory. Teams heading for a high pick run up against teams coasting to the finish line and it screws with the draft. Permutations like that definitely concern me.
  2. Our FO kinda poo the bed with Deshaun Watson tbh. It's like no one there ever thought "Hey, what if we don't get him?" Assume that the allegations never happened . . . we were still not the team with the best available package. As a fan base, we kept trying to tell ourselves we could do it, but realistically, both the Jets and the Dolphins were in MUCH better position. With all their focus on Watson, they never looked at lower tier players. Players like Trubisky and Mariota signed for peanuts elsewhere, and frankly would have been a lot more exciting than TB5. So now were in the position of having to give up value just so we can go in to next season with someone not named Bridgewater taking snaps? Yea, that's on the FO.
  3. Trading with Miami at this point is unlikely, and depends on two factors Miami doesn't control. 1. Who is still available at six. 2. What we think Detroit will do. If one of the four QB's is still there at six, Miami already showed the league their hand. They aren't interested. Anyone with the draft capitol to reasonably move up already has. So what do we think the Lions will do? I mean, it's the Lions, super hard to say. They have Goff, but was their goal to get Goff or was their goal to get rid of Stafford? Hard to say. Goff is younger for sure, maybe they do like him. I don't think Detroit is completely out of the QB market, but having Goff I think makes it less likely they would take one. Bottom line is that pick six isn't all that valuable right now, as it appears that four QB's are going in the top five. In the event something strange happens on draft day, that could change. I don't expect us to move to six pre-draft, that's for sure.
  4. Frankly, at this point, I'd rather see any one of those guys at QB over Teddy.
  5. Wow. Just watched his pro day. Trey Lance might have MARGINALLY better overall arm strength, but Zach Wilson clearly has the best overall arm TALENT in this draft. I am no longer convinced that Lawrence is the best QB in this class. The difference between TL and ZW is not nearly what I thought it was.
  6. There is no (*$@ing way the 49'ers traded up for Mac (*$@ing Jones. That's just Chris Simms having an absolute boner for Jones.
  7. It would cost us our second round pick plus a bit more to move up those three spots. If we like the guy, it may be worth it.
  8. Oh, I'm not celebrating 7-9 with Teddy, I am however saying it's not an unlikely outcome. I am a little miffed that we didn't pick up a Trubisky or Mariota type QB at 3.5 mil per season. They signed for PEANUTS which we could have easily afforded. Honestly, I'd be way more excited about our team with either of those than with Teddy.
  9. Forget QB for a minute. Our team is flat out BETTER right now than it was last year. It's not even a question. A full offseason in front of us. A coaching staff that now has NFL experience under it's belt. A returning CMC. It wouldn't surprise me if we go 7-9 next year even with Teddy. There is no way we're picking in the top 10. Rookie QB in 2022? Forget it. There's only a couple worth first round picks, and they'll be snapped up long before we pick. Whether the Jets are sold on Darnold or not is utterly irrelevant. SF did not trade up to #3 to pick Sewell or Micah Parsons. Two QB's are off the board already. If the Jets keep Darnold and trade out, the only reason anyone would go up there is to pick a QB. Frankly, if we want a rookie QB, that's where we need to be. A month or so ago people were laughing when I told them I could see four QB's gone by pick 8. I wouldn't be surprised now if there were four QB's gone by pick FIVE.
  10. Welcome to Carolina, Trask / Mond / Newman.
  11. Innocent until proven guilty . . . even if he's an 'Aint.
  12. Based on? He said / she said? No charges have been filed. No arrests have been made. I don't know what if anything Watson is guilty of. Nor do you. Nor does our team. Let me run this scenario by you. Let's say you're the Texans. You know Watson wants out. You want him to stay. What better way to keep him around than to make him appear to be completely toxic? We've all been so focused on seeing it from our side, we've failed to see it from the other side. My scenario protects our team if we trade. We lose nothing if Watson is suspended. The Texans gain nothing. Bear that in mind. My scenario was a hypothetical scenario where Watson is cleared. Maybe he is guilty of . . . something? I dunno. The fact that no legal charges have been filed is a red flag. I'm not even sure a REPORT has been filed. Certainly no legal investigation. A civil lawsuit is what happens when someone wants something but doesn't actually have a good legal case. The burden of proof is SUBSTANTIALLY lower in a civil suit. That's why those cases are typically settled quietly and out of court.
  13. If we were smart, we'd trade for him right now . . . but give up nothing this year. Basically, we construct the trade in such a way that we give up nothing immediately. Past that, every single piece of the trade becomes contingent on him being eligible to play. If these legal issues mean he's never eligible to play again, we give up nothing, ever. Would I give up a couple first round picks 2022, 2023 for Watson? Sure, assuming he's eligible to play / clears the charges. Even if we get "our guy" this year and end up with a rookie franchise QB + Deshaun, that's massive capital. We could easily recoup anything we give up for an in-the-clear Deshaun. I think that scenario is INCREDIBLY unlikely, on numerous fronts, but I'd take it if the Texans would.
  14. If we were drafting at 15 and Parsons was sitting there, I'd *sprint* to the podium. Dude is gonna be great. Sitting at eight, I just can't see it. It seems pretty likely that with pick eight we'll have available a QB, LT or CB that we desperately need.
  15. I would rather try something new than keep hoping the same old formula that's failed for years suddenly starts to work.
  16. We definitely need to upgrade Slye. Not sure this is the guy, but we need to find him.
  17. DJ is a legit NFL receiver. He may end up a star if we can get an actual NFL QB to throw him passes. Imagine what his production would look like if he was in KC instead of Tyreek Hill. He would terrify NFL defenses.
  18. What do you mean not in this case, have you LOOKED at our roster? We have TONS of needs ahead of WR where a top 8 pick would be TREMENDOUSLY helpful. Yes, we need a QB. Also, a CB. And a LT. Even if the run on QB's happens and the top four are gone, we'll still have the opportunity to pick Surtain, Sewell or Slater. Any of which help us more than a guy who will have to fight for playing time with Anderson and Moore already established. Pick 8 needs to be a guy who is an immediate, unquestioned starter. As good as Chase may become, he's not that on this team. At best, he's sharing snaps. We don't need that.
  19. Developing a QB is very, very different than developing a CB. It's different honestly than any other position. Those guys who can develop NFL QB's are rare, not nearly enough of them around. I don't know if we have that guy on staff. Joe Brady can construct a passing game, absolutely no doubt. But that's still very different than developing a QB. The fact that Lance is playing FCS football is already a strike. It makes all that running he did frankly irrelevant to me. If that's his NFL game, I don't want him. If someone can fix those mechanics, great. But even I could spot his flaws. Lazy feet, inconsistent drops. I hope our staff is better now, but we never fixed those things with our last franchise QB - also a physically talented runner - and we ruined him. I don't want to see that ever again.
  20. This is exactly it. I'm sure there are situations that would have us wanting to trade back, but if the top 4 QB's are gone, who would want to trade with us and why? Doesn't make sense.
  21. The only thing it matches up well against is 21-22 personnel . . . and that only holds up if your corners do.
  22. The problem with what you're showing is that you are showing it matched up against an offensive grouping that you rarely see anymore. Most offenses run the majority of their plays out of 10-11-12-00 personnel. That presents serious issues for that defense.
  23. The general rule is that future year picks devalue by one round per year. So next year's first has the value of this year's second, etc. It generally accounts for the random nature of teams having good seasons vs bad seasons. I'd love to go up and get a QB, but I don't see how we can afford it.
  24. Depends on price, allegations are just allegations until proven.
