  1. Remember this? It was followed by this. Never judge a backup QB on one game. Or two. Or even four. They need to have the pressure of starting week in, week out with opponents having tape. Huntley looked really good, yes. That doesn't make him a starter, or worth trading for.
  2. I love Luke, greatest MLB to ever play the game. But I don't believe his career was as impacted by injury as Cam, and it's not even close. If you put 2015 Cam's arm on 2021 Cam's body, we'd be talking about Cam as our guy for another five years.
  3. Baker isn't great, but you can do a WHOLE lot worse. Browns gonna Browns I guess.
  4. Is Person trolling us? Did Rhule really say that? Is this just Rhule's way of saying "We plan to cut him in the offseason" ?
  5. More than occasional. How many times do I remember Jerry Rice just gashing people. WCO is all about hitting the underneath / short / intermediate stuff just until the defense steps up to take it away. Then it's Montana or Young to Rice or Taylor for 65 yards and a TD.
  6. The problem is Sam's salary next year. Because it's guaranteed, we know he will be here. This plus other needs basically means we are not in the running for a high end QB. Our potential includes such luminaries as Dalton, Foles, Brissett and Mariota. And of course Cam Newton. The question you have to ask yourself is which of those guys do you like better than Cam Newton as a starting QB? I dunno. I don't love any of them. Unfortunately, that's the cap we have unless we want to go through another season bitching about our OLine being historically awful.
  7. Actually, we do have a LT now. We have no (*&$@ing idea if he can play there because Rhule is hell bent on playing him at guard, but we do have a LT.
  8. Yea, me too. Which is unfortunate. If we inform him now, we can start interviewing current NFL coaches next Monday.
  9. I know it's a bad time of year, but seriously, we need to go ahead and tell Rhule he won't be back so we can at least interview some actual NFL coaches early. I don't even need his firing to be immediate, I just need us to let him know and start the process of finding a real coach.
  10. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it may not even have been Darnold who is the problem. I still have no expectations that Darnold is an NFL QB, but judging him in context of the sh!t show here is no different than judging him in context of the Jets. We need a qualified offensive coordinator and head coach before we make any judgements.
  11. I do not like a coach who throws his players under the bus like that. Especially before he has a chance to go watch the film. Seems pretty obvious watching the film that there wasn't a run play that was going to happen. It's like the Bills knew we had one of the most dynamic running QB's in history back there and took steps to stop it. Weird. On the outside, the play design was off. Someone said earlier that the outside receiver missed his block. True. However, he wasn't going to make it anyway because of the design. He was grossly out-leveraged by the CB there. The play design was asking him to make a tremendous reach block and that's a really tough ask for a receiver in space like that.
  12. While I see the Huddle is split, it looks like some are finally coming around to the idea that it doesn't take all that long to rebuild in the NFL unless you've truly created a mess with your salary cap. Our salary cap over the next two years is looking good. If you put a quality coach in this locker room, continue to draft well and most of all find a QB, this team can compete for playoffs in the next two years. We can be over .500 next year.
  13. Wentz has played pretty well this year, which has definitely helped the Colts out. It was obvious last year everything was in place except the QB. No, he wasn't good against the Pats. I think it's a little much to be celebrating their defense. The bottom line is that the Colts give up 21.4 points per game. Good for 8th in the league . . . just ahead of the Panthers in 9th (21.7).
  14. This is actually incorrect. Per the new NFL rules, starting two weeks from now we can interview candidates during the season for a head coaching job provided we have let go our head coach or told him that he will be let go at the end of the season.
  15. Rhule had almost complete roster control. If the roster churn happened, it's because he wanted it. Here's the issue. There have been five coaches in the history of the NFL who have had two losing seasons to start their career, then gone on to have 8+ season and a SB appearance with that club. Since 1980, there has been ONE. The question everyone should be asking is "Do I believe Rhule is capable of breaking forty years of history that says it's time to cut bait?"
  16. Remember when all we needed was a LT? Good times man, good times.
  17. You're leaning pretty heavily on some staff blowups there . . . I wouldn't be surprised if Castillo and Bisaccia retain their current positions even in regime change.
  18. Meh. Was hoping for some better insights. Nothing the Huddle hasn't already mulled over. *shrug*
  19. I've said it in other threads, I'll say it again here. Rhule in Carolina has one major issue: trajectory. Right now, the trajectory of the franchise is down. Look on the field. It doesn't take an NFL expert or analyst. Does this team look better than it did last year? We heard a lot about culture. The roster has turned over nearly 80% since Rhule arrived. His "culture" is in place. This is it. What do we see? Coaches being fired. Players calling each other out. Players shifting blame. Coaches calling out players directly in public. Is that a successful culture? For Rhule himself, you have to compare him to history. Rhule is going to start his tenure with two losing seasons. Do you know how many coaches in NFL history have done that and gone on to 8+ year careers and a Super Bowl appearance? Five. Ever. Since 1980? One. Are these the signs of a team that is turning the corner? Is Rhule going to beat incredible odds to turn the team around? No. These are the reasons Rhule needs to go, now.
  20. While Snow has surpassed expectations, I think we need to allow a potential new head coach to bring in his own. If that coach interviews Snow and decides that's who he wants, ok, I guess. I'd still like to see more NFL experience on the roster, especially when it comes to coordinators.
  21. Ooh, pick me! I know the answer! Because they had a guy with EXTENSIVE NFL experience as a coordinator who could take over.
  22. Here's the problem: We've been conned into thinking that everything is a throw away until we have a franchise QB. Now, I'm definitely in the camp that says you need a franchise QB to bring home a Lombardi. But I don't think that precludes us from competing. Many teams are competing with "lesser" QB's. The Broncos are over .500 with TB5. The Eagles and WTF's are just under .500 with Jalen Hurts and Taylor Heinecke. Play for one of these "good not great" QB's while you build your team. When the opportunity comes to get "THE GUY", you get him and push for a championship. Honestly, I could stand a few years of 10-7 back to back while we seach for "the guy" in a responsible way.
  23. It's all about trajectory. Maybe you can't make a complete cultural and functional turnaround in two years. But by the end of year two you should see a very clear upward trajectory. That is clearly NOT what we are seeing here. I look on the field and year over year, game over game, I don't see us making progress. Quite the opposite. We now have coaches calling out individual players in very questionable ways - publicly. We see players deflecting blame - publicly. Our results on the field are going backwards. I'd rather not ride the train all the way to the scene of the accident at the end of 2022. Let's hop off on a side track NOW and start working toward an actual solution.
  24. Depends on the next staff and their evaluation. It's going to be a question of which one you want to keep between Burns and Reddick. We cannot keep both.
  25. Regardless of what "we" think as Panthers fans, the bottom line is that DJ is going to get $15 million per season minimum from someone. Curtis Samuel and Devin Funchess got $10 per year and neither of them ever approached DJ's level of production before getting paid. I'm not sure he's worth that. He does seem to have issues when he isn't the primary target and it's certainly led to situations where his lack of effort has cost his teammates. I don't like that in a guy who is THE guy.
