Texans have signed offensive lineman Jarrett Kingston to their active roster from the Panthers practice squad.

If this isn't an argument to completely revamp the scouting department, I don't know what is. Who the *** do we have doing our scouting evaluations?

With the 1st Pick in the 2026 Draft....
Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D. replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
The sooner this team realizes we are 3-5 years away from building a playoff contender the better. We should be trading back, loading up on picks so that when the time is right, we can strike. That goes for bringing in veteran Free Agents as well. We shouldn't be spending money yet. It's not our time. Trade back, build the core with multiple draft picks and wait to strike when the iron is hot. -
I honestly tried so hard, looked at all the players on the final year of their contracts, not likely to be resigned, could bring us anything in return. Not a long list. Had to remove people like Renfrow, Jansen, Corbett, as they are all very unlikely to be moved. Brady Christensen and Yosh Nijman were thoughts, but I felt their value was too high for us to part with.

I know the trade deadline is still a long way off, but with the Panthers sitting at 1–2 and not looking like playoff contenders, I wanted to take a realistic look at players we could potentially move. Honestly, it was harder than expected to find tradeable talent, that is, either guys underperforming or players on the final year of their deal. Here’s the short list I came up with and what I think their market value might be: Player Position Age (2025) Contract Status Estimated Trade Return Xavier Legette WR 23 Rookie contract (team control but underperforming) Late 3rd–early 4th if buyer believes in upside; 5th floor D.J. Johnson DE/OLB 26 Rookie deal through 2026 5th–6th round; toolsy pass rusher with cheap control but low production David Moore WR 30 Expiring after 2025 6th–7th round depth rental Nick Scott S 29 Expiring after 2025 6th–7th round depth/ST Akayleb Evans CB 26 Expiring after 2025 6th–7th round if CB injuries hit contender James Mitchell TE 26 Expiring after 2025 6th–7th round late flier for TE depth

Vikings get Jordan Addison back from suspension this week as well. With Justin Jefferson, Jalen Nailor, and Jordan Addison all playing this weekend, Thielin is sure the see his playing time diminish as well.

I'd rather role with Henden Hooker. Maybe attempt to lure away Tyler Huntley from Baltimore.

ProFootballFocus on Xavier Legette

Your right. This wasn't meant to be a dig at Shenault. LOL -
ProFootballFocus on Xavier Legette
Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D. replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Is Xavier Legette secretly Laviska Shenault? Both are 6'1" and about 220-225 pounds. Exact same arm length (31 7⁄8), hand size (9 in). During his best year in college, Legette broke out: 71 receptions, 1,255 receiving yards, 7 receiving touchdowns. In Shenaults best collegiate year, he had 86 catches for 1,011 yards and 6 receiving touchdowns, plus 5 rushing touchdowns. Controversial opinion, the Panthers should use Xavier Legette in a Laviska Shenault-style role because both are nearly identical in size and physical build, with comparable strength and versatility that make them well-suited for schemed touches, including gadget plays and even snaps out of the backfield. If it makes you feel better, you could call it the Deebo Samuel role. -
Defensive tackle Shy Tuttle, age 29, has landed on the Tennessee Titans’ 53-man roster after being released by the Carolina Panthers during final cutdowns. Tuttle, who entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee in 2019, is the only Panther released at the deadline to secure a spot on another team’s active roster or practice squad. While most of Carolina’s released players either re-signed to the Panthers’ own practice squad or remain free agents, the team did bring in fresh faces from outside organizations to round out its developmental group. * Hendon Hooker (QB, 27) – Drafted in the 3rd round (68th overall) of the 2023 draft by Detroit out of Tennessee. * Ainias Smith (WR, 24) – Drafted in the 5th round (152nd overall) of the 2024 draft by Philadelphia out of Texas A\&M. * DeeJay Dallas (RB/KR, 27) – Drafted in the 4th round (144th overall) of the 2020 draft by Seattle out of Miami (FL). * Kalen King (CB, 22) – Drafted in the 7th round (255th overall) of the 2024 draft by Green Bay out of Penn State.

Luckily, he was likely nearing peak conditioning for the season. Probably won't delay him too much. Getting a week or two of rest before the grind of the NFL season might not be the worst thing for a lineman

Sorry, just being informed that this year, the deadline for submission is Noon today, not 10AM.
-
Whether a player is waived or released comes down to how much experience they have accrued in the NFL. Veteran players who have at least four accrued seasons are outright released. They instantly become a free agent and are free to sign with any team.
-
Waiver claims are processed and announced at 10 a.m. ET (9 a.m. CT) on the Wednesday following the NFL's Tuesday 4 p.m. ET, 53-man roster cutdown deadline. This gives teams a roughly 18-hour window after the deadline to submit their waiver claims. Players who are not claimed by a team by this deadline are eligible to be signed to a practice squad.

Moton extension. 2 more years, $44M
Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D. replied to jb2288's topic in Carolina Panthers
Extending Moton doesn't negate the possibility of us trading him later. So, I am not too upset with the extension. it is really going to come down to the structure of the contract and how much of that money we would have to take on in the event of a trade. -

I love this for Moton and it shows that we are willing to pay our own, and builds continuity on the line, so I definitely understand the move. HOWEVER, If I was in roster management, and I knew we were likely not going to be Superbowl competitive this year, which, lets be honest, we aren't. I am personally putting any player over the age of 28 on the trade block. These players need to be traded to a contender, or their replacement found. JJ Jansen – 39 Andy Dalton – 37 Adam Thielen – 35 Sam Martin – 35 Taylor Moton – 31 Nick Scott – 30 A’Shawn Robinson – 30 Austin Corbett – 29 Yosh Nijman – 29 Shy Tuttle – 29 -
Let me put it this way. Right now we are tied for the first pick of the draft.

Gameday Thread Steelers
Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D. replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Its funny how quickly my mindset went from: ITS GAMEDAY, LETS KICK SOME ASS to Its gameday, Please don't make me embarrassed to be seen in my Panthers gear. -
People on here just trying to hold on to their off-season hopium for as long as possible. I'm not going to take that away from them. I will say, I wanted to see something different from what went down. I am ready to see the Panthers play competetive meaningful football again. I just hope I am not tracking draft position by week 6 again.

It's a preseason game, but...losing is not an option.
Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D. replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
You’re missing the point. Winning in preseason does matter, not for the record books, but for what it reveals. It shows who’s locked in, who’s hungry, and whether your team plays like professionals, top to bottom. And yeah, if our starters look great but our second and third units get torched every week? That’s a problem. Because when injuries hit, and they will, those same guys will be the ones protecting Bryce or trying to close out a real game in December. You don’t flip a switch in Week 1. You build that edge in August. So spare me the “he was gonna get cut anyway” stuff. If he’s wearing a Panthers jersey, he better be playing like it means something. -

Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D. replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
Look at the Lions. Over the past two preseasons, they’re 4-2. Dan Campbell didn’t walk in talking about patience or process, he came in talking about biting kneecaps and changing the damn culture. That team went from being a league-wide punchline to a perennial playoff contender. Why? Because they started giving a damn about effort, discipline, and competitive fire in everything from practices to preseason. You can say the score doesn’t matter, but when you set the tone the right way, it tends to show up on the scoreboard anyway. Winning is a habit. So is losing. The Lions chose to stop losing and it started with how they approached every single rep.
