  1. Yup, too many holes to be cutting/restructuring starters already under contract.. We are at League average in cap space. I don't understand rush to create a bunch of cap space this year when all that will do is add to cap overhead in future years and/or more dead cap. Tepper will be patient this year, take advantage of it. Clean up the books as much as possible without adversely impacting future years.
  2. A thought...could we just let him walk? I know that was a poll question, but kinda tongue-in-cheek. I didn't honestly think it was a viable option. Most of the tag targets around the League have already been addressed. However, even though talks have stalled, no word from the Panthers' camp yet.
  3. Purely scheme related. We didn't utilize him as such last season, but he is what he is. A threat in the passing game he is NOT. A blocking back and a short yard rusher are his best traits. A gimmick pass in the red zone...sure why not, nobody is expecting it and there you get your 3 TDs a season. I mean if 10 yards a game on average is a your idea of an effective TE in the passing game, then I guess he's a stud. A TD every 7 games on average is rock star material too.
  4. We don't need to crate a ton of cap room this year. We will suck. Take the hit this season and re-work his contract or cut him in 2025. No kicking the can down the road as Morgan said.
  5. They have been consistent. Gesicki was buried on a 3-headed monster TE room last year with the Patriots and his stats suffered. Both guys have put up three 500+ yard seasons. Which of our TEs can boast that? None. Hurst has done it once and nobody else has even come close. Tremble is an H-back and not a true TE. He's not a threat in the passing game.
  6. Who are his potential suitors: Falcons, Washington, Steelers or the Patriots? He's going to look to start somewhere first before taking a backup gig.
  7. Sneed got the tag today. The Dolphins opted NOT to tag Wilkins
  8. He knew it was coming. Apparently he's had him home in Denver with 12 bathrooms up for sale for a while now.
  9. How about the Jags wished a player happy birthday today and then cut him hours later. Ooops! https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39653533/source-jags-release-dt-folorunso-fatukasi-birthday Oh, there's a decent DT now available!
  10. Nearly the end of the business day. Apparently the team is going to drag this all the way out until tomorrow even though EVERYONE knows Burns is getting the tag. It's been leaked that negotiations are on hold.
  11. If he's still on the board in the sixth round when we pick, that would be a nice selection to wrap up our draft. He had a solid combine, so his stock will rise.
  12. Olsen was elite before injuries derailed his career. Injuries were the only reason we let him go. He couldn't replicate his pre-injury numbers. We ain't getting Bowers and there's not even another guy in the the same zip code as him. We have three options: roll with what we got, get a project TE in the mid-late rounds or upgrade in FA. None of those options other than the last one gives an immediate upgrade, even if there's no Greg Olsen-ish guy on that list. Also, Olsen was a former first rounder if you recall. Gesicki and Fant gets us much better instantly at the TE spot.
  13. By that token, we need to be looking for Chuba's replacement. He's in his final year. I wouldn't mind extending him for a couple of seasons now rather than giving him a brand new 3 or 4 year deal next spring. Unfortunately, we are stuck with Sanders this year before we can cut bait.
  14. If released, designating him a June 1 cut would save even more to the tune of $10.5M.
  15. How so? I mean if you are looking for and elite TE, then sure. Several of those guys are very capable and we don't have to break the bank. I mean you won't ever see a Kelce or Kittle on that list, that's for sure.
  16. I'm against a TE before round 4 just because we are draft pick poor. I want WR and RB or EDGE respectfully in rounds 2 and 3. I would like to trade back once to get an extra pick, Ideally #65, and pick up an additional 4th getting back to four picks by say, selection 120. That way we can get our WR, RB/EDGE and TE before it gets lean in round 5. Even then we can get a good CB in the 5th since it's so deep of a class. Our 6th will simply be BPA as these dudes are flyer picks. Best OL/DL left on the board.
  17. We need a technical, savvy and gear changing WR with top end speed. Coleman is a great contested catch guy, but the point is unless there is a busted coverage, most of his catches are contested. We already have enough WRs that can't get separation.
  18. Agreed with the cheekiness of your comment, but we do need a TE though if he's released. Sorry, but consistently banged up Hurst and a bunch of JAGs won't cut it. A day 3 TE in this draft isn't exactly plug and play.
  19. There are some decent TEs in FA. Hopefully it's a soft market and we can get one of the better dudes at a reasonable price if we can hold our water and not sling money at players on the outset of FA. I was always skeptical of Hurst because as a former 1st round pick, he's been passed around more than a hooker at a naval port. Dudes that bounce around that much, considering he's not that old, usually raises a huge red flag for me. I know he was dinged up a bit last season, but even when healthy made little impact on our offense.
  20. I was on board with most of this, however, I don't like the Irving pick or double dipping at OL. You cut Thomas (I agree) but did nothing to replace him in the draft or FA.
  21. Atlanta is not the only team in need of a veteran QB. Agreed playing for the Vikings is an uphill battle in that division. Maybe he likes the team, doesn't want to move and not shy about the challenge of stiff competition, who knows? Cousins to Atlanta makes sense, but it's no where close to a slam dunk.
  22. They are probably weighing what it would take to get to #2 or #3 versus a trade for Fields. Obviously if the Bears are dealing Fields, they are staying at #1 to take Williams. As far as Cousins goes, I think he'll want to go to a team that's a closer to a title run. He'll only go to Atlanta if they are the highest bidder by a wide margin. Honestly they are in a great position, either to stay put for QB4, move up for QB2/3, trade for Fields or sign a solid veteran like Cousins.
