https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39092468/north-carolina-qb-drake-maye-entering-nfl-draft Maye just made it official. If any of the top 6 were going back, Maye would have been the one. Now Ewers and McCarthy are the only top prospect left that may return to college.

There isn't a throw Penix Jr. can't make. Flicks it 50 yards effortlessly. Good footwork, good vision, good pocket feel and yes, he can run the ball too.
-
As of now, I think Penix Jr. is #4 off the board, but some highlights anyway in case Nix and/or McCarthy go ahead of him.
-
I would look at it like he would have a shallower learning curve in the NFL. These true juniors and RSOs are underdeveloped, period. Having only 30-ish games, that's if they start almost every game in three years, is simply not enough. Truth be known, most QBs don't play much, if at all, their freshman year so now you are looking at only about two dozen games. Guys like this are SUPER green and why they struggle MIGHTILY in the NFL. Factor in 3-4 fluff games each season for most schools and these 3-year guys who sit year 1 only have--at MOST-- 12-16 games versus top competition. Again, they simply are NOT ready.
-
Been saying that since 2018. Man has it been a long six drafts.
-
I have soured on young QBs, 3rd year guys, namely. They just haven't played enough ball to be remotely NFL ready. I don't care if they played at Bama, USC, Michigan or Ohio State. Brock Purdy is the prime example of why you take a solid older guy over a flashy young guy with "potential."

What I had originally thought 7-9 wins and yes, we win the division.

Bryce Young is historically bad, and he's regressing

Take a peek in the 2024 QB thread...I've got Nix and McCarthy videos posted. I'd take either, but am partial to Nix. -
Nix is more accurate and has a better fastball, IMHO, but McCarthy is a better athlete. BOTH are a threat to run the ball.

Those little girls have nailed Bryce's drop back.

I've been saying that since the Seattle game...at least the best QB on this team. Andy carried the team that game. The defense looked uncharacteristically bad, running game struggled and the OL--not only couldn't protect, but had an absurd amount of pre-snap penalties due to Seattle's crowd noise. -

Tepper is going to have a hard time selling this job to a HC candidate who is being mandated to "fix" Bryce. You absolutely KNOW that will be a question every candidate will ask--"am I married to Bryce Young?" No HC wants his future tied to this kid. Tepper may have to hedge his bets on Bryce or he's going to have to go faaaaaarrr down his list to find a HC. -
Williams, Maye, Daniels and Penix Jr. will be gone in round one. If someone has the balls, Nix and/or McCarthy should be sitting there at #33, but Tepper needs to be told 'step back' by someone, 'we are taking another QB.' If we ship off Burns, possibly the first rounder could be this year. If so, WR in round 1 and Nix/McCarthy at #33.

Agreed. If so, we'd sign 3 more Adam Thielen clones. -

Of topic, but are you an Iron Maiden fan? Asking because of your handle. At any rate, great song! -
Is Bryce the only problem? Obviously not, but as the QB--you know, the most important position in all of team sports--It starts with him. No, not every pass attempt was a jailbreak by the defense. He couldn't do anything even with the snaps where he had some time.
-
Running game produced over 200 yards, you would think that would have loosened up the back end some. So no, the entire offense didn't blow yesterday, just the passing game led by Bryce Young.
-
If Byrce could hit more open throws, contested incompletions like these can be forgiven. Can't cherry pick only contested throws and say he needs help. Young can help himself by hitting what the defense is giving him. Odd he didn't show the wide open WR Byrce missed for the TD, huh? That would fug up his narrative. I get these media types that have access to the Panthers have to walk a fine line between true journalism and not pissing off the people who grant that access. While this may fool the casual fan, the die-hards know bullsh!t when they see it.

Confused Why Some Seem to Think We Got Fleeced
45catfan replied to Daddy_Uncle's topic in Carolina Panthers
I stayed far AWAY from this thread as possible. I didn't like the trade up from the rip and then didn't like who we took with the pick. I knew, in true Huddle form, If I had voiced my opinion about this whole thing it would be looong battle uphill. Therefore, I just dodged it entirely. Credit to Carl S. for speaking up and taking the time to take the heat. I try to avoid multi-page pissing match threads. -
Lol, I've been saying this for the past 6 or 7 games. But NOOOoooo, we have to see what we have in Bryce Young they said. It's too early to bench him they said. What we have is a non-NFL QB.
-
If so, Fitterer is a bigger idiot than I have become to realize. He's a hybrid, I get it, it's hard to pigeon-hole him to one spot. However it has become clear that Jeremy is a better thumper than ballhawk. We offer him a contract based on a above average ILB and see how it goes. If he balks and wants corner money, then we trade him before he hits the market. I understand he's been playing nickle, but of the three positions he plays, corner is his least effective.
