Teddy Bridgewater named starter over Drew Lock
onmyown replied to @bonafidebanter's topic in Carolina Panthers
A gunslinger, meaning he just lobs the ball up. I added true to that as that is his (only) plus aka as said, arm strength. He is a prototypical gun slinger. Just let’s it go and has his receivers fight for it. Kind of reminds me of a poor man’s Winston. And I can’t think of many successful QBs with that style. Marino, Favre…Stafford maybe…. -
Teddy Bridgewater named starter over Drew Lock

Just spoke with a hardcore Denver fan the other day, they’re all over in Utah. He said the same thing. Lock just bombed it and is a true gunslinger but that’s about it and his accuracy was horrible. To the point he was just lobbing it up all the time. Broncos are very heavily defensive minded and pretty much expect the defense to win their games. I personally think the Broncos know they’re in rebuild mode with the offense, in which case what’s really the harm in letting TB play. -
i read it as we are in fact hiding a secret weapon

Maybe it’s time to reflect and realize you’re only reading what you want to read. No one on this forum has high/unrealistic expectations for Darnold. Most people post they’ll be ecstatic for 7/8 wins and mainly base that on the team as a whole being better and Darnold being average. And if it started and ended with the QB the Texans would have more than 4 wins last year.

Panthers changing their strategy for building a winner
onmyown replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ehhhhhhh kind of tired of this song and dance yet again. Granted Hurney just said it and did the exact opposite in letting players walk. But he didn’t exactly sign FAs either since he overpaid the wrong players. Being skilled in FA is just as important as the draft. I’d rather hear something like we’ll sign the best player no matter where they come from. -
Lol…of course I personally like PFF. All metrics have flaws. The curious thing is anyone who bitches about it on this forum for some reason can’t seem to point to a better source or metric I’m still waiting for that better source with perfect metrics as for the topic I think at his worst he’ll be solid depth. Just an opinion because preseasons means jack, but this is good

I didn’t think it’d bother me but I realized I really do prefer a real field. Aside from cost, is there a benefit of turf?
-
Franchise QBs don’t grow on trees. It’ll take time. That said if Fields shows out and Darnold flops that’s strike 2 in my opinion. After that (year 4) shouldn’t take much to be shown the door. If this team doesn’t have a winning season this year or next I’d seriously consider moving on. In the mean time I hope a good team is built and the next qb is plug and play. It’s just as success of a blueprint.
-
Because the main position responsible for protecting him is probably the worst position group on the entire team (and has been for a while now)? I’d question whether they’re coddling the oline. Not even worthy to protect the starting qb in a preseason game. But honestly who knows. Maybe it’s just the way Rhule does things. And really I don’t care, cause it won’t matter. He’s got 17 games…he’ll either look good or we move on.
-
I yea this is very optimistic. I’m very skeptical of that Oline. It’s been a problem for years. It hasn’t been addressed properly and at other times ignored. We’ve known it’s a problem. I hope the coaches know it’s a problem (sometimes it’s hard to tell). This isn’t a surprise, it’s not new, it’s obviously a problem.
-
I agree, tho Rhule said in the NFC S teams are putting their best rushers on the right. But regardless I’d feel much more comfortable with Moton left and anyone else on the right at this point. The huddle has been calling for Moton at left since this FO can’t comprehend the position or oline altogether.

Davis didn’t do poo after 3 games when teams realized he wasn’t an absolute scrub, except vs the a god awful Broncos. Davis was overrated imo
-
‘I don’t see athleticism in your gene pool, maybe on the golf course’ lol I do love the new rule change from 2 steps or whatever to an ‘athletic move’. Athletic move is a little subjective but I have seen numerous obvious fumbles not called because 2 steps weren’t taken or whatever it was

5-12, could split with the Falcons and go 6-11 if we surprise a few teams and actually trend up 7/8 wins would be nice 9 wins would be great but very surprising Not sure where you guys get 10-11 wins, that borderline delusional optimism imo
-
I long for the day when another teams’ demise does not determine our success. But alas it’s all we have. I’ll take it.
-
Yea we tied for 7th with two other teams lol. Whoopie. However one of those teams now has their franchise qb and best prospect in quite some time. Jags. I personally think the Bengals will be better. Falcons too. Raiders well. I think the garbage teams for next year will be the Jets, Lions, Broncos, and Texans. After that…the Eagles. Then the Panthers. So yea, if I had to guess right at 6 next year. I’m also curious who ranks at the bottom the past three years averaged….pretty sure we are def bottom 6 then.
-
This is pretty accurate. Bottom 6 of the league is definitely our arena. It was around bottom 10 of the league but that got fuged up averaging 5.7 wins over the last 3 seasons. Objectively speaking and looking at the NFL and having to pick 6 teams I’d probably pick the Panthers as well, tbh. The deep bottom dwellers a couple years ago have surfaced with promising QBs and other moves (Browns, Bengals, Jags, Chargers etc) and it’s a shuffle down at the bottom between the Lions, Raiders, Jets Texans and yea…Panthers. Dear lord don’t let us be the new age Browns.
