  1. Here's an excerpt from a 2006 article from ESPN... Scripps Howard was able to compare mortality rates for professional-football players with the 2,403 Major League Baseball players who have died in the last century. The comparison found that football players are more than twice as likely to die before age 50. Asked to speculate on the cause for this difference, experts noted that football players generally are heavier than baseball players. The threat isn't lost on retired players, who acknowledge that they are spooked by the potential problems they now face. "Do you see any oversized animals anywhere in the world living a long life?" asked Tony "Goose" Siragusa, a 340-pound defensive tackle for 12 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens. "We're pretty much on our own here." https://www.espn.com/nfl/news/story?id=2313476
  2. Yep, I'm hoping to see significant improvement on the offense, with a new OC and assistants. That is, if the line gels and whatever QB the team settles on can consistently move the ball without constantly turning it over. The defense's Achilles heel will be its inability to stop the run. Not sure anything meaningful has been done to address this problem during the off season. Snow is the best of Rhule's bad lot. Regardless, he's not the answer on D and should have been replaced during the off season IMHO. 3-7 wins, another losing season.
  3. This ^^^ is well reasoned and logical. It is also why Tepper and Rhule, not known for being well reasoned or logical, are likely to choose another course of action.
  4. Don't try to fix what isn't broken, defense was solid as is. Just putting Moton in at RT would likely have been a big enough difference for the Panthers to run an effective offense against the Broncos. The Moton change alone gets the Panthers a Lombardi Trophy.
  5. Note: If you're a relatively new owner and an outsider trying to build goodwill in a community, this isn't how you go about doing it.
  6. Steve's coaching methods would likely have Robbie Anderson laid out on a EMT's stretcher headed to the ER before the end of preseason workouts.
  7. I don't normally like to brag, but in the spirit of this thread, here's my sweet setup w/64K of massive awesomeness... Installation was a breeze, hooked right up to my big screen console TV.
  8. This is awesome news! Looks like there is nowhere to go other than up!
  9. This (more than any other factor) likely explains the W/L record when it comes to Panthers Head Coaches. Capers, Fox and Rivera spent years honing their craft, rising to the top of their profession. When finally given their opportunity to be an NFL Head Coach, they were prepared for it. On the other hand, Rhule's NFL experience when tapped to be the Panthers Head Coach wouldn't fill up a post-it note.
  10. Yeah, but he buried the lead... Idaho is apparently now a state, and has a school.
  11. This. Matt Rhule's original hand-picked staff required a major overhaul after only two seasons. Taking into consideration all of the Head Coaches the Panthers have ever had, Rhule has had an historically bad first two years. No other Panthers Head Coach has ever been retained after one 5 win season, forget two 5 win seasons.
  12. I only know of one person who would say yes to your question. Unfortunately, it's the same numbskull who currently owns the Carolina Panthers.
  13. Apples and oranges. Orange you glad to have options? or As the old saying goes: One bad owner (from the Big Apple) spoils the barrel.
  14. True, and anyone that has been a fan of the Panthers for more than a minute knows it. In his third year, Matt Rhule will have his hand held throughout the season by more experienced NFL coaches on both sides of the ball. All Matt has to do in order to achieve his best record in 3 seasons is listen to these voices of experience. Million Dollar Question is: Will Matt Rhule be smart enough to talk less and listen more?
  15. All for Carolina finding another TE that can reliably catch the football. Having said that, the OP's video was a highlight reel of bad coverages.
  16. Meh, maybe I shouldn't give Tepper the benefit of the doubt, but I was feeling generous at the time. Even if Corral doesn't displace Sam Darnold out of the gate, it is a hopeful sign to see this franchise try to provide some competition at the QB position. Something I can't recall happening in quite some time.
