Trading for Taylor would only make sense if we plan to sign him long term but it still comes down to value. Will he ask for too much money? Taylor is better than Foreman but we did just fine with Foreman and Hubbard for a fraction of what Taylor would ask for. Listening to Duce Staley's presser, sounds like he is in favor of running back by committee, doesn't make sense to get a bell cow RB.

Look where athleticism got Forrest Gump! I kid, I Kid

I don't remember a time where almost each position coach gets their own press conference. Maybe Tepper is showing off to the league how good his staff is with these press conferences. Rhule's staff certainly didn't do that. Seems like everyone of our coaches on Reich's staff is well spoken, assertive, and has a clear plan. Everyone one of them could be a HC some day.

Reich: "It will be a Base 3-4 Scheme"
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Outside of QB, I think defense will be a high priority in the draft to get the right guys that'll fit the scheme. I think Panthers will go defense in rounds 2-3 if we get our QB in round 1. Good LBs in Sewell, Jack Campbell, Sanders. Good talent on D-line in mid rounds too. I'm excited for this defense just as much as the QB intrigue. -
QB options sorted in preference tiers
CarolinaRideorDie replied to JawnyBlaze's topic in Carolina Panthers
I just can't wait for the draft with so much speculation going on. I think we either get our franchise QB or we completely bust out and have a terrible draft, there is no in between. -
Can't have too many "good" coaches on staff, I think QB coach McCown would have a better chance being #4 lol

It's kind of weird but this coaching hire cycle feels like free agency. It's big news for almost every position coach hire. Haven't seen this much hype for a coaching staff. I don't remember much media hype over Rhule's staff.

Damn, any candidate who come here for an interview, don't leave without being hired! What Tepper wants, Tepper gets!
-
For all of Tepper's mistakes, everyone can agree that he is not shy about opening up the pocket book for high quality talent/coaches. I wonder how much he paid each assistant/position coaches to come here. His judgement and evaluation just sucks, hopefully he is listening to football minds now and not businessmen. At least we have an owner that does want the best and willing to pay for it.

Sign Carr, trade him and #9 pick back to Vegas and draft AR....lol! 4D chess yo! Carr is going to demand a massive salary and Panthers don't have that much cap room. This dude gave up $40 mill per year with the raiders, he is not going to take that much of a payout.

I think the top 3 picks in this year will be QB just like class of 2021 (Lawrence, Wilson, Lance). There are so many QB needy teams that someone will trade up for the top 3 picks. Sleeper teams to trade up are Vegas, Wash, Atl. Yeah I know Wash and Atl just drafted rookie QBs, but so did we and we're all hoping to draft a QB this year, why wouldn't they? Chicago and Ariz will receive a kings ransom to move down.

How will this coaching team effect free-agency?
CarolinaRideorDie replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
These are grown ass men trying to earn a living. They are chasing the big bucks and not their friends/coaches. It helps to have a coach you like but at the end of the day they are going where they get paid. Is Tyreek Hill made he got traded to the Dolphins and lost out on a superbowl this year? I don't think so, he's already got a ring and he is one of the highest paid receivers. -
Superbowl rings by current coaches
CarolinaRideorDie replied to panther4life's topic in Carolina Panthers
These are the only rings Rhule cares about! -
Carr has already peaked in his career. A lot of posters on here make good points that he had arguably the best WR in Adams and they did put up stats, but they also didn't WIN! If Carr comes here, yes he would be the biggest upgrade we've had at QB so far but don't let that fool you. There is a reason why Kirk, Dak, Lamar, Carr haven't made deep playoff runs! They put up numbers and stats no doubt, but they are not winners! Why is Burrow/Mahomes/Allen consistently in the AFC championship picture year after year? Go for the home run, don't settle for Carr.

That's the Wentz I want, not this journey man Wentz.

I guess we shouldn't be this surprised at the quality staff Reich has put together. Tepper did say that what separated Reich from the other candidates was how he already knew which people he wanted to be on his staff. I don't think the Huddle has been this excited about coaches. I do think there is a good mixture of young minds and old wisdom on this staff!

Wentz was the front runner to be MVP but got hurt the year Philly won the Superbowl. I think Wentz has the physical ability to be a franchise QB but I heard that his confidence was shot and he didn't take very well to hard coaching. If Levis can give us good Wentz, I'll take.

For the people who want to wait til next season to draft a QB, do ya'll really want to go through another painful losing season to get a top 3 draft pick next year? We couldn't even lose out properly this year with Rhule and Wilks. We're a mediocre team and now have to use more draft capital to trade up to get our franchise QB. Either win it all or suck hard.
-
You shouldn't be using "premium draft capital" on depth. 1st and 2nd rounders are expected to start not be back up players. Rounds 3-7 are for depth.
-
A franchise QB can cover a lot of holes on a team! That being said, I do believe that our roster is decent. We do have young or reliable talent at the most important positions. We could use more depth however.

Panthers requesting interview with Jim Bob Cooter for OC
CarolinaRideorDie replied to TheWiz's topic in Carolina Panthers
"You had me at Cooter." -
What would you give the bears for #1 pick
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Anything less than 3 1st rounders is a not going to get it done to move up to #1 and the Bears know that. Who knows if the Bears want to move all the way down to 9 and miss out on a blue chip player too. I think it's more ideal to trade up to #5 and then package that to get up to #3 or even #1. If we are ok with either Stroud or Young then we 100% have to leapfrog Indy. Houston will decide who we take if we can get Ariz spot at #3. Worst case scenario is Indy trades to #1 and takes a QB, Houston takes a QB, then I think Panthers will get desperate and trade up to settle for Levis or Richardson. Vegas and Atl are legitimate threats to take QBs even more so now that Brady is retiring. I'm sure Vegas was hoping to lure Brady there. -
My 2 cents after watching the Presser
CarolinaRideorDie replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
My biggest takeaway from the press conference is his offensive philosophy. The more I think about it, the more I'm a believer that Reich can get us turned around quick. Think about it, his philosophy is currently being implemented to perfection by the Eagles. Reich wants to establish the run game to set up the big chunk passing plays downfield coupled with a top 10 defense. Coach Sirianni is a Reich disciple. Eagles have a top 5 run offense, top 3 total offense, scored 32 total rushing TDs this year. They have AJ Brown and Devonta Smith making huge downfield plays, their offense is unstoppable and their defense is top 2 with 70 total sacks. What he talks about is actually working in the NFL. -
Reich’s description of a QB: It’s basically Corral
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Wundrbread33's topic in Carolina Panthers
If you listen to what Reich wants in a QB as he defines all of the traits, the QB prospect he is describing is actually Young. The knock on Young is that he is so small and may not tolerate the punishment, there are reports that Young is trying to put on weight to get up to 210 lbs by the combine, if he can do that he'll go #1.
