Ok thanks for the clarification. I guess I should change it or I will get 50 folks saying the same thing. -
Rams Offering Two (Future) Firsts for Burns

He will get a bunch for sure and with Rhule here I might agree. But Wilks has them fired up and they are a top 10 unit. Peppers was here longer before he got discontent. -
Rams Offering Two (Future) Firsts for Burns

No what you said is stupid logic. Who know what happens in 2025? You don't value potential which can vary from a number 1 pick to a number 32 pick the same as a proven commodity. Burns cost us a top 10 pick and has been everything we thought he would be. He has stayed healthy and is the best DE we have. Future picks are always valued less than current picks and should be. While we aren't a player or two away we also don't need a complete rebuild. He is a core of the defense and teams gameplan against him. That is worth more than what we could get years from now. -

But the right way to look at trading a first rounder who is a top DE for potential picks in a few years. -

He can. His issue is gap discipline and staying where he needs to be not holding the edge. -

Not true. Guys like Von Miller are around the same size and he can play in a 3-4 or 4-3. -

A first round pick in 2025 is worth what now? A third maybe. And a 1st in the 20s in 2024 is worth what? Maybe a little more. So we trade our best pass rusher who has improved significantly for what amounts to a couple of middle round picks in value. We can pay him and still have a low cap number in 2023 as new extensions are always cap friendly in year 1. -
Not sure if we do that unless we have someone better to replace him. Wouldn't be surprised to see some kickers try out this week.
-
They sit around all day doing little but kicking the ball when needed. They make millions of dollars to kick it between the sticks. Good kickers make those. Unemployed ones dont.
-
I wasn't surprised we lost, disappointed? Absolutely. But we didn't deserve to win today. You have to snatch victory when you get a chance and we didn't. Special teams cost us today.
-
It was both. DJ for making a routine extra point a 40 yard field goal and for the kicker missing not 1 but 2 kicks which are in his range. And let's be real it was indoors on turf. Nothing to account for weather wise. No excuse to shank it.

To me you pick the guy who is athletic, accurate and football smart. Height isn't the biggest issue except at it relates to durability. Short little guys gets injured. Sometimes so do big guys. But if you look around the NFL I like the Josh Allen, Jalen Hurtz kind of guy who might need some time to learn the game but are big and athletic and mostly durable. Who is that guy??? After yesterday it doesn't look like Levis is the guy but honestly Hooker looks the part so far. Looking to see who emerges.

Panthers win Sunday…1st place in the South
panthers55 replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't even worry about the draft at this point. I just want our guys to go to Atlanta and kick some Falcon butt. I don't like their team and watched too many losses in that stadium since my younger brother and father were Falcon fans. I don't like any team in our division and want to beat them anytime we play. Things around here are so unpredictable I wouldn't be banking on anything but the present. I don't like losing and never have. I always thought those who try to justify losing as a good thing have had lots more opportunity to lose and are comfortable with it. -
No this would not be a good idea. He surely isn't an OLB and Woods is a better SS. Chinn needs to play FS and do his best Ed Reed, Steve Atwood, Brian Dawkins imitation. He is an awesome intimidator in the secondary and can come up and make plays all over the field. You can put him at linebacker and he is undersized and likely to be hurt or you can put him at safety where he is bigger and more dominant and can cover bigger receivers Saying the same thing over and over doesn't make you right.
-
Chinn is 6'3" and 220. He is a big safety. He let's us play a nickel defense without giving up too much in the run game. In our defense both safeties have to be good against the run and the pass. With all the blitz packages both safeties will get opportunities to blitz and well as provide zone support. You need thumpers all over the field who make receivers get alligator arms.

I want to see CMC on the Panthers with a competent offense. The hell with Buffalo they have an excess of talent already. He is getting tens of millions to be our offense win or lose. I don't feel sorry for him either. This is a business and he is too valuable an asset to trade but Fitterer says he will listen to every offer.
-
Truth is it is better to make sure Horn is 100% before playing him. It isn't like he is going to singlehandedly change the game.ets see what happens. Tae for example played well in the times he has been in.

Peyton Manning on Will Levis and the Panthers
panthers55 replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
GMs and coaches have to choose what philosophy you embrace. Find a guy who is football savvy, a quick processor and a great game manager who is accurate and has an average NFL arm like Jones. Or you pick a guy with great athleticism which translated often to lots of one read and run with lots of short passes and limited reads so he might have great potential but he will need lots of work being raw like Willis. After all the job of a college coach is to win games not develop players for the NFL. Are there guys who have it all and could come in and start at a high level who come from a big program and have the football skills, and the athleticism so the learning curve isn't so extreme. If so I want that unicorn. Before I just pick a guy at QB when we already have Corral I need to know he is the one. Otherwise I can have the best player in the draft at any position or trade back to let's say 10 and get more picks. I want that unicorn. Is that the guy from Kentucky? Or maybe Stroud or McKee -
This 100%. MCcaffrey would make Moore and Anderson instantly better as team have to focus defensive resources on stopping him. Then once he is loose in the secondary every touch could go the distance. Trading him unless he is requesting it make little sense this year at least.

Is that you Tepper????

Jason LaCanfora: Where do Panthers go from here
panthers55 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't agree. The mistake in hiring Rhule besides hiring him in the first place was giving him a 6 year contract. That is what happens when you bring in a high profile college guy. They get way overpaid in college and to compete you have to do the same. If you decided to keep Wilkes on a 1 or two year prove it deal you aren't stuck long - term and most times guys in a contract year overperform. I wish everyone was on a performance based contract that incented everyone to play or coach like they were in a contract year.- 51 replies

Thanks for the optimism. I have no clue how things will turn out but like you I want something to root for and hope Wilks is the man who can lead us there.
-
The only reason Tepper felt he could fire Rhule was because he already knew that he had Wilkes and Holcomb ready to take over if Rhule failed. I wondered why Wilkes tookt he role he did and stayed despite not agreeing with Snows's schemes and his college approach. I wouldn't doubt Wilkes and Tepper talked quite a bit and this makes sense now. Maybe intensity and urgency is what we need to get over hump as everyone wants to say. I know one thing, I really hate the losing. I am tired of everyone else righting their ship at our expense. Going to games and hearing other teams chanting and happy as we trudge out once again losing in the second half.

If you can't get better than a third you keep him. If you switch him to the slot and put Foreman running between the tackles you have a decent running game and McCaffrey becomes your number 1 receiver. You preserve him and use him to his best ability. But trading him and eating a ton of dead cap is a stupid idea. There won't be a third rounder with half his talent in this draft.
