I think there is hope that Corral will improve and that he will be the future. But honestly the only thing I could speculate is that he is struggling with the mental part of the game and all the practice reps don't help if you don't know what you are doing. I guess we can see what happens this week after he gets reps on Thursday and Friday and plays a lot this week.

Last year was a dumpster fire. If things hadn't really changed around there would be little reason for optimism. Fortunately they have.
-
PJ is going to be stashed on the PS and if Darnold and Baker were both hurt he would likely be promoted to the active squad and start over Corral unless Matt really improves.
-
Maybe it was me but both Baker and Darnold looked good to me. Don't folks complain about not enough reps when there is a problem.

I don't have trust in Rhule. I like McAdoo and Campen and Wilkes etc. I think they will do a good job if Rhule stays in his lane and is the rah rah process guy we might be fine.
-
Just like when I was the first to point out Gettlemans flaws which proved his undoing. Or criticized Snow and his 3 man prevent in 2020. Or have had a lot to say about Rhules naivete and our college coordinators who admitted we didnt prepare because they hadnt done that before. But yeah it is always praise.

No you missed the point. Preseason isn't as important and you think which is why players and coaches got rid of it. That and having one more regular season game means more money for both. Truly I am a spectator watching so of course I don't have any way ro know what they are thinking. I am just not triggered by what is happened as many of you guys seem to be.

How many of those teams are keeping 3 qbs. They don't have the luxury of slowly developing them. Just because you are impatient doesn't mean it is the wrong approach.
-
The fourth preseason game was a waste anyway and no starters ever played so it hasn't changed much. And these interteam practices have really helped give starters more quality reps. So again if time was of the essence we would have played both of them more than 1 series. Much ado about nothing.

I think in the pros we call them projects.

I agree I am generally optimistic especially this time of year. Plenty of time to be negative if we suck in November and December.
-
Well we have several with HC experience. Maybe some of it rubbed off. I remember Rivera saying he wished he had hired some former head coaches as coordinators to help him make decisions. Maybe Rhule or Tepper helped him to that realization
-
Above my pay grade for sure. I think it will be enough to resign Baker which was my post

So much angst about 2 series in the first preseason game. Why over think it until we see what happens
-
I am in the Panthers camp not the Rhule camp
-
No that is a better record than last year against a much harder schedule. We have multiple examples where 7 wins was followed by a big jump like in 2013 and 2015.
-
That is how they are working and this is the NFL and McAdoo is making the decisions so yeah that how things work.
-
Exactly and that is a relief. Look at how everyone except Jones did as rookies last year. Corral playing this year would guarantee a top 3 pick and drafting another qb. If he sits we probably stick with him. So he is more likely to be here if he sits and doesn't play than if he does and disappoints.
-
Second string, fourth string. Whatever. Delhomme was third string in 2003 going into camp and we all know what happened. No Corral is where he should be. At the bottom until he proves otherwise.
-
Corral has done nothing to earn that position at all. I would hate to see him start if Baker got hurt. It could be much worse than Darnold and that is saying something.
-
I haven't read that. I thought Baker and Darnold were evenly split.
-
Sure they do. How about Green Bay with Love or San Francisco with Lance. What about Mahomes in KC. I could go on but this is enough. Fourth string or second string it often helps a qb to sit. Corral needs to sit and absorb those mental reps otherwise he is lost as you can see. He came from a simple college offense to a complex NFL offense Baker said took a lot to master and this is his fourth system.
-
That isn't true if you look at the first depth chart. Maybe based on film things will change after the New England practices. Things are starting to get clearer. No need for panic.
-
That because you already know the answer before you ask questions. You don't like Rhule and nothing will change that at this point.
-
Because he made the decisions in the past where now he has smarter guys making the decisions for him.
