  1. And if Bridgewater had a stronger arm, was more athletic and was willing to throw it down the field he would still be here and we would have won a lot more games. Pickett is Bridgewater preinjury.
  2. It is easy to play the comparison game with speculation that can't be proven one way or the other. Sure Mac had a tough schedule but he also had the best supporting cast in Alabama as well. Not saying you are wrong that Jones would have done better in New England than here but it doesn't really matter since our OC is new and we don't know with our upgrades if we will be better. Pickett if he is our guy will be in a decent situation with good weapons and improved line play.
  3. Whether he is a system QB or not is only relevant if he is in the wrong system. He tends to fit what we have done for the past 2 years and with McAdoo likely having a lot of say on who we pick, we should get a guy who either fits in our system or is adaptable. Pickett is the most pro ready and has the best mechanics. He would be our Mac Jones and that got NE a winning record last year. That would be great and if he can't take us to the promised land Fitterer already said we would swing again next year. Then we get a starter and backup on rookie deals.
  4. He seems to be a Teddy Bridgewater with better athletic ability and a better arm. Truth is Teddy has all those traits he would still be here.
  5. It all it takes is an athletic guy who you can coach up on everything else, how come we have so many failures in the first round and guys who never get better. Maybe there are intrinsic factors like handling pressure and thinking on your feet that might be more innate than taught.
  6. I think you may be a little extreme in your analysis. Fitterer had an excellent draft last year and got good players despite trading back for more picks. His free agent pickups last year were hit and miss with no real disasters other than Darnold. I also think with no evidence to prove it that Rhule was the man last year personnel wise and Fitterer did whatever Rhule wanted. Then Fitterer brings in Morgan for his pro scouting ability to help with free agency and we got solid additions and starters this year. Fitterer is a first time GM and is learning on the fly. But he has good football sense and came from a successful program.
  7. Fitterer was in Seattle when they found Wilson. He did have some culpability with Darnold but I suspect it was largely Rhule who made that decision given Fitt was pretty new at that point.
  8. So much angst every year about the salary cap among folks who really have little clue like all of us. We can afford whoever we want and need to keep trying to upgrade. Kicking the can happens with most all teams. We will be fine next year like we were this year. It's gotten to the point if you don't manipulate the cap you aren't really trying.
  9. I think you are correct. He is interesting and if we trade back I think he is definitely in play. I don't think he is ready to.plug and play but in the right system he could do well. I hope he wasn't David Carred running for his life all year.
  10. Nor sure how this is relevant. Burrow wasn't good enough to be astarter until he gained the experience and was in an offense suited to his needs. Any quarterback can struggle with out a good system or supporting staff. Burrow is a prime example.
  11. How many great seasons did Burrow have in college? One. So he won't be good right using your logic.....
  12. I agree with Fitterer. If we were going to give up 3 number 1 picks and several others plus guarantee 230 million for Watson you can pick a first round QB for the next 3 years and still save picks, players and a ton of money. Finding your QB even if it takes multiple attempts is crucially important and can't be ignored. The last winning season was the last year Cam had a good year. I hope it wouldn't take 3 or 4 swings to hit on a QB but if it did then so be it...
  13. Great game and atmosphere. Two wins in a row at home. Unexpected from an expansion team. Now to win one on the road.
  14. If this is true and we don't pick another veteran then we will be drafting Pickett. No other QB could come in and win for us. And Rhule is definitely on the hot seat and needs to win to stay.
  15. I think that Darnold will be the number 1 guy whether we pick a rookie or not. I have read somewhere that McAdoo likes Darnold better than Mayfield which is why we didn't jump on him right away. It will be Darnolds job to lose. McAdoo wasn't here last year so he is going to install his offense and doesn't care about 2021. So if Darnold did suffer from a terrible line then he will improve with our hopefully better line and win us some games. If he still sucks there will be no one else to blame. How soon they expect to bench Darnold might influence who we pick if we go QB. If we need a starter right away then go with Pickett. Corral and Willis both would need to sit before they will be ready to start. So if you want either of them you need to hope Darnold can get much better with a line and good gameplan.
  16. Didn't realize we had any choice in the matter. If we don't make the playoffs this year then I think we should move on. Will we?? Who knows.
  17. I am one of those if the price is right. As the number 1 pick in the draft he hasn't played poorly. He has had multiple systems and little stability over his career. I think with a competent OC and our weapons he could be good.
  18. I for one am fine with Watson going elsewhere. I don't love he is going to be a divisional rival but with Brady back we aren't going to win the division with Watson this year anyway. I would rather have Mayfield if reasonable or get a rookie and keep building. Get rid of Rhule and shoot for 2023. I know I am in the minority but this is one time where losing out could be winning.
  19. That is like asking if you would rather be punched in the face or kicked in the junk. The obvious answer is neither.
  20. No different than the Saints. All that restructuring got them to even not the 40 million to add Watson. Yet if they get him they will miraculously find the money.
  21. I don't think that Watson is worth the price. He hasn't played in a year, might still be suspended multiple games under the conduct code and will be playing behind a depleted team who gave up five first rounders including picks and players. If Watson gets hurt we are depleted and screwed. We could take quite a few swings at QB with all those first rounders we gave up. This year at 6 we can get our left tackle for the next decade or our pick of QBs and still keep our stars and future picks. If we go QB and he sucks, we can use that guy as our backup when we dump Darnold and we can get a top qb pick again in 2023. With Rookie contracts cheap, you really can keep going for your QB. And we still have our 2024 first rounder. I don't understand the mortgaging a team for one player no matter who. We don't want to end up being the case study for what not to do in sports management courses giving up the farm for a player who couldn't carry the team without a supporting cast.
  22. I'm hoping Seattle bails us out and keeps us from ourselves by trading for Watson. https://clutchpoints.com/seahawks-rumors-deshaun-watson-to-seattle-speculation-heats-up-even-more/
  23. The grade is indicative of how someone played not how well they could play with a competent offense. Some guys like Moton can play in any system where other guys need to be in a good system for their skill set. So let's see how the line plays this year under hopefully better coaches.
  24. I think we could fix the line if we go left tackle at 6. I don't think we are that far away. Then again if we mortgage everything for Watson we will have a crappy line and defense this year.
