The league average for success of second round picks is not that great, so we are above average overall, and for the last six years or so, way above average. Only Little was a bad pick in that time span.

Fwiw, I can't think of many current players drafted in the top 8 that changed a team's fortunes singlehandedly, qb or otherwise. There are a few, but not many. Certainly none in the last couple of years.

Fields going to where qb's go to fade away (Chicago). Maybe.

If the Dolphins get even decent qb play, they could be one of the better teams in the NFL for a while.

Atlanta is going to have a ton of pass catchers. And they may need them unless their defense improves dramatically.

And if they do, he might come in and be the next Joe Montana.

Depends on how we look at. I wouldn't keep two qb's for a long time, but imo, we give them a year or two, then decide which one is best and get rid of the other one, ala San Diego when they had Rivers and Brees.

Personally, I would love to go into next season with two potential starters. I have been watching football long enough to realize that if we depend on a draftee like Fields or someone we traded for like Darnold being the guy, the odds aren't good. But with two guys, the odds are better. I wouldn't do it with any other position, but qb is important enough to risk tying up additional draft capital.

Drafting a tight end would be a mistake for them imo. They have to much draft capital and cap space tied up in pass catchers already. They should either draft Ryan's replacement and let him sit for a year or two, or draft a top defensive player. So I hope they select Pitts lol

If that is the same one I read about this morning, the Bobcat was Rabid. Could mean a lot of shots for those that were attacked.

They are all crapshoots, which is why some want to trade back. More picks equals better chance at success.

I am not defending Rivera, but most coaches these days succeed or fail in large part due to the play at Qb.

That is a little before my time. I started following Washington in the mid to late 70's, a couple of years after they went to the Super Bowl with George Allen.

Jerry Glanville. He was the Falcons coach at the time, and didn't like Favre at all. Got rid of him as soon as he could. One of the worst moves of all time. I think Favre did have some issues related to being late for practice and being kind of a partier, but he seem to get it together.

I hope if Fields is there, we take him. And we might, if he is there. For that matter, I feel the same way about Lance. I also think that the staff believes he wont be there at 8. From what I have read, he won't even be there at four. And that is why they went with the Darnold trade.

For those that are saying the odds are stacked against him, you are correct. But then the odds are stacked against just about anyone we could conceivably get. IMO, that would be true even if we had lost to the WFT, and we had the fourth pick in the draft. Anything we might do is a crapshoot. Which is why I still hope that we pick a qb in the draft. Better to have two new qb's than one. Better chance that one of them might work out.

I do wonder if they decided to trade for SD because they don't think any of the qb prospects they want will be there at 8. But if a surprise happens, and one of them is available, they might still pull the trigger. IMO, qb is such a critical position, that it wouldn't bother me if we went into the season with two potential starters.
