    The torture device our coaches used was “Old Smokey”. A damn near vertical dirt embankment that went from the field back up to the school on top of the hill. Couldn’t run it, too steep, had to use “all-4”. Gassers til somebody puked.

    In middle school the offensive line had a loose ball/fumble drill that we called the T-drill. 1v1, 3 point stance, Coach spikes the ball, contact then recover. Win you get to take a knee, lose, back of the line. Last man left had to turn his helmet backwards stand on one leg and chant “It’s me, it’s me, I’m the Big T!”

    It would be gross negligence if they didn’t at least flirt a little.

    I’m aware. And they have an opportunity to improve. I’m just surprised they are content.

    That team is a QB1 from a Super Bowl. The young guys are fine but it seems like a hell of an opportunity to waste on Lance and Purdy.

    I don’t think the issue is with the kids being (rightfully) compensated. I think the reaction is based on fear of the unknown. How it will change the game. Program prestige and tradition will no longer be top shelf recruiting tools. Cash is king.
