  1. I would like to trust Morgan in this. If he's honest about only having Dawgs on this team, Burns will be gone one day or another. If he's just playing lip service, Burns will be back getting paid big time. This is the test.
  2. Pep wanted out and he was being accused of taking a lot of plays off (but even with that he was twice the baller burns is). Letting him go for nothing hurt, but it was inevitable. The team wanted him to be something he didn't want to be and he wanted to experience life and sports away from north Carolina. I seriously just don't want to mess with burns. All he's ever done is pretend to be a superhero/elite player. If we can get something for him, fine. I just don't want the risk that comes along with the tag
  3. Little curious to see where these guys were all drafted.
  4. Tag would be $23mil. Better than 30, but still way more than we should be paying him and I just don't want to risk getting stuck with him for that amount.
  5. I just don't want to mess with it. Tag and trade sounds like a good idea ...but what if you can't get a trade partner then you're stuck. I mean it's not like it would be as hard as letting pep go because he was such a part of our identity. Burns ain't no pep. Just cut bait. Not worth the cost or risk of cost.
  6. oh absolutely. no QB can sustain that for very long, physically or psychologically. his size doesn't have much to do with it. the abuse from defenses does. they HAVE to do a better job of protecting him and putting him in better situations.
  7. agreed to all of that. the two things that most thought would be an issue, supposed limited field of vision due to height and him snapping like a twig because he's so tiny. he proved tougher than most thought, especially after getting sacked and hit as much as he did. durability isn't a concern anymore for him than anyone else. field of vision issue...no QB looks over their OL. I heard a coupe QBs talk about that. average OL, like you said, is 6'4...plus a helmet on those big heads...how tall would a QB have to be to consistently look over his OL? 6'6? 6'7? It's all about finding lanes and knowing where everyone is supposed to be. he had his issues for sure, but the big ones weren't the issues that most talked about.
  8. same here. in doing mocks i find myself grabbing him if he's there. hard to pass up. i hate missing out on one of the top 10 WRs (which i think we'll be able to grab @33) but if we can find ourselves another 10 year OC, i'd be stoked.
  9. @Verge how many and which WRs you think will be going in the first? just curious. i'm thinking as many as 5-6. hard to imagine that there would be more than that but as good as this class is it could happen. the fact that it's also so deep makes me think that some teams will feel good about waiting a little to get one they like.
  10. I've seen one where Bowers went #2 and then a few mocks later I see him available at 33. Most players they are pretty consistent with but there's a few that really get bounced around.
  11. I like it, especially the direction. Got to say I'm more excited about the 2nd WR than the first. I just feel like there's better WR options at 33. Could be that I just need to watch some more of him, but I have a feeling you'd be able to swap him fairly easily with a earlier iOL at 33 then swing back around to get Washington with the next pick. I love Corley, though.
  12. I really like this one.
  13. Not likely, but yes or no?
  14. That could be and probably was, but even so I'm sure it was an easy sell to the teppers. I'm not sold that Reich was sold on BY, maybe he was, but considering the majority of work he had done with QBs was older established vets I'm not sure he knew much about how to develop a QB or what to look for. Really not a great fit for what we were trying to do on many levels. I think Canales is much better suited for developing QBs or really any position. Considering his early passion/focus was trying to get a training center going, it wouldn't surprise me to see early mini-camps taking that kind of direction. Have everyone work on shoring up fundamentals.
  15. I've been targeting those two in the third and coming back around 2-3 rounds later and picking up Tommie Eichenberg. Hopefully through trading back we can add a couple picks to make this more feasible. Adding that to Luvu and Shaq (if he's still here) would be fun to watch.
  16. A couple things I've noticed If I don't pick a WR first, I typically end up regretting it. I never feel good about the way it falls after that. Usually it's Ladd, Adonai, or, on occasion, Brian Thomas Jr is there (and if he is I jump). I e been going back and forth between going OL or defense with the 2nd pick, but find myself drawn more to defense lately. Kris Jenkins is often a target there just because I'd love to see Brown with another huge terror on the interior and id also love to see another Kris Jenkins at DT. Seems like destiny. I find myself more trying to get two LBs who are big-time tackle machines with that alpha dog mentality. I will grab either Cedric Grey or Jeremiah Trotter in the 2nd and then typically Tommie Eichenburg a couple rounds later or some other high tackle dawg complement for whoever gets picked earlier. I'm just thinking that adding two terror tackling machines to add to Luvu would be great. I figure it would have to be appealing to Morgan as well and Evero probably wouldn't hate having a stacked LB corps managing the middle. Whatever picks I have left (usually a few from trades) I just get the best OL I can find. And if Jared Wiley is available I might try to grab him as well.
  17. This one made me laugh. Adonai Mitchell @ 6'4 Johnny Wilson @ 6'6-7 Jared Wiley @ 6'7 I typically have been having one or two WRs under 6' (mcconkey, corley, thrash, wilson, cowing) and trying to pair them up with a tall target, but this was just too hard to resist.
  18. I don't think they were on an island. I think there were a lot of people who bought it. But there are also mega doubts about him as well. Also, people who preferred bryce were mocked by those who didn't think it was a good choice. It was pretty heavily divided and the ebb flowed back and forth between the two regularly. I think people loved the idea of Bryce and there was just enough to see that people felt ok with that choice. Confirmation bias played a role in the decision and people's opinions about both guys, but particularly with Bryce. Those who didn't want a short QB weren't going to hear anything that could possibly change their minds that it might not be the issue that they thought it would be. Many just wanted a big QB. Many wanted Cam...again. Also, many who loved the idea of Bryce the guy and the super processer and weren't willing to consider anything that might point to the idea that he may not be the best choice. Not the strongest arm. Not a powerhouse. Not a big personality that can help take command. Not a big guy. I mean he really is tiny. That's not an insignificant point to consider. But people were willing to overlook stuff with Bryce because they liked the idea of him... including me. I'm not sold on him anymore, but I am hopeful that Canales and his crew can make it work.
  19. I think this is BS. He's still on the site as staff. Just wishful thinking. https://www.panthers.com/team/ownership_business/taylor-rajack-x1565
  20. I think it was a perfect storm of misconception made by a couple who happened to be the owners of the team. They weren't just looking for the face of the franchise. They were looking for the voice and they were looking/hoping for someone who sounded like they did. I really think they were looking for someone who wouldn't just win games, but who would win the hearts of the market they were try appeal to who had the money. They were looking to make the typical middle /upper-middle class fan comfortable so, between the two top prospects I think they didn't rely on talent, but marketable personality. Tepper from the beginning has tried his best to get media attention to the team he bought. Trying to make the biggest splash possible. He didn't want the best team. He wanted the most hyped team. The most marketable team. Just my opinion and I could be totally wrong, but I think that he and his wife WANTED Bryce to be the best prospect so they believed it and sold everyone else on it...or just flat out pushed it on people who wanted to please the boss and his wife. Bryce was the well-mannered polite kid you could take to your grandma and who would comment on just how well-spoken and well-mannered he was. I think the kid has talent and he might still become a good QB. I hope he is. But I really do believe that he fit the personality mold the teppers were wanting for the face/voice of their team.
