Hornets Expected To Target Arron Afflalo and Jameer Nelson (Also News On McBob and Big Al)

I like Afflalo and would be happy to have him. With that being said, I would be happier to use that Detroit pick and pay ~4 million more per year for Gordon Hayward.

I like Afflalo more then Hayward.

I like Afflalo more then Hayward.

Why is that? Not trying to be condescending, seriously wanting your opinion.

I think Hayward gives us a better ballhandler, better passing, and better at creating in isolation situations. Not to mention he has better size and already has experience with Big Al, plus the whole part about him being 24 with room to improve whereas Afflalo is 29 and likely has peaked in his career arch.

Again, I'm a fan of Afflalo. He's a deadeye shooter and that would help this team. I just prefer Hayward over him, even if it means trading more and giving up more money.

Affalo has actually been the top scorer for a team and avg. More points then Hayward. Not to mention cheaper.

I'd rather just bring Sessions back for cheaper and we may never see what Zeller can do if McBob hangs around.

Also if Chicago has to get rid of Taj Gibson to make a run at Melo I'd love to inquire about landing him.

I don't think Zeller is ready quite yet. McBob for one more year would be preferable imo (I can't believe I just said that after all the poo I've given him this year).

Unless some team offers a ton for McBob (I doubt it) I don't see any way he's not on this team next season. Everyone from Big Al, Kemba, Coach Clifford, MJ, Cho, and Higgins, all love him and talk about how much he means to the success of this team. I get frustrated with his lack of scoring at times but if we can add a scorer at the 2 and at backup PG then we can live with MKG and McBob in the starting unit.

Reed tweeted the following...

@SteveReedAP: To me, it seems the Bobcats top two positions they'll look to upgrade are the 2 spot and 3 spot, in that order. Then add backup PG and C.

What about this option...

- Sign Nelson @ 2 yrs, 4 mil a piece (he'll take a paycut because he's wants to play for coach Cliff and because when he is released he will be making an extra $2 mil.

- Sign Luol Deng @ 2 yrs, $10 mil a piece

- Sign Jason Smith $2 yrs, $4 mil a piece

- Re-Sign CDR (vet min)

- Cut Brendan Haywood

- Trade Portland's pick and Gerald Henderson for Arron Afflalo

- Draft Gary Harris with Detroit's pick (assuming we get it.

- Draft DeAndre Kane with our 2nd round pick.

PG: Kemba Walker, Jameer Nelson, DeAndre Kane

SG: Arron Afflalo, Gary Harris, Gary Neal, Jeff Taylor

SF: Luol Deng, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Chris Douglas-Roberts

PF: Josh McRoberts, Cody Zeller

C: Al Jefferson, Jason Smith, Bismack Biyombo

You could do all of this, and end up over the cap by less than $5 million and have a really, really solid 1-2 punch with a first and second unit that can both score and defend.

Just because we have cap space this year doesn't mean you have to spend all that money. Your logic is leaving us with issues with the ability to resign players that will be due for a raise in the 15/16 season.

I would be behind all of those. However I don't think there is a chance that Orlando gives up Afflalo for just 28 and hendo. Pretty sure they would demand the pistons pick.

Not sure id be willing to depart the pistons pick for Afflalo.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
