We get #9

People wanting Gordon...why, other than his athleticism, potential, and NAME do you want him? Not saying I'd be against the pick (I'd like it potentially), but this team needs offense. Gordon has no offense other than what his athleticism gets him.  Bad jump shot/free throw shooting/can't create for himself and not to mention he's a tweener.  Extreme poor man's Blake Griffin right now (and not the Blake that has a developed offensive game now).

I don't see Gordon making it to 9, but if he did, we sure as hell better be bringing in shooters at 24 or free agency or we'll have two MKG's out there. Added wrinkle, the last two 1st rounders were a SF and PF...we're going to draft a tweener with a limited offensive game at those positions with an obvious hole at SG? Fans won't like it, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a big like McD or Saric taken instead, as someone who could conceivably contribute on offense/shooting right away.

And please don't draft PJ Hairston at any point. He has train-wreck written all over him. UNC fanboy picks have given us terrible players and set the franchise back multiple times.

???

Not saying we should draft PJ, but we've only drafted two UNC players... ever.  And they were drafted in the same year... before MJ.

This UNC/Bobcats thing is a myth.

I think McDermott will be better then most expect. With that said, we don't need to draft an unathletic forward with the 9th pick. If that guy from Arizona falls to us at 9, I'll be thrilled.

Marcus Smart and Gary Harris are also possibilities

Ya don't say? We have MKG for that role. Nobody questions Gordon's effort/rebounding/defense. Charlotte also had a Top 5 defense and ranked in the top half in rebounding if I remember correctly. That offense though? Yikes. You want to use #9 to add a defensive/rebounding guy who may be an energetic 6th man next year and not much else on an offensively challenged team?

Now imagine a scenario where the lineup is as follows on the court next year, either after subs, with Al on the bench, or God forbid hurt...

Kemba/Neal

Henderson

MKG

Gordon

Biz/McBob

That may be the most atrocious offensive lineup I've ever seen assembled.

    • Yeah. That start to his career was about as bad as it can get. In New York, Meat grinder press corps, of the first degree,    When he came here he was on OC 3 - in year 3.  And people in this fan base that think they are smart, could not take that stuff into account.  Now, most of the smart ones are not Bryce Stans but Bryce gets 4 damned years free pass. At least 3  The fail of the organization AND fan base in general, fuging shamefully short sighted,  And the choking thing, players have to fail before they succeed. With very few exceptions. Last year was really his first meaningful, high stakes game. Okay, he didn’t play well. They learn from that, or are supposed to. You don’t throw out a guy with all those tools and with his rocky did him no favors background for not being perfect right away.  He might suck in the SB, but he proved a ton this year.    If we’d have had any patience he was the guy to use it on, not Bryce Young.
    • Darnolds OC when he was drafted was Jeremy Bates who was fired. He hasn’t had an nfl job since then. his next head coach was Adam gates who was fired after two years and isn’t in the league anymore. then he gets traded to the Matt Rhule panthers. His first OC was a hired WAY too early Joe Brady who was fired midseason and basically had to restart his career as a get back coach in Buffalo. then it was Jeff Nixon, who’s currently the head coach for Syracuse. the next season was the best he’d ever looked, and it was the first time he had an actual nfl offensive coordinator calling plays for him. The less said about Matt Rhule the better. then he sits a year and ends up in Minnesota and the rest is history. maybe he just had poo awful coaches for the start of his career. Maybe we should be trying to find someone who flamed out on the jets. one who’s a religious weirdo  and likes to bang married women  that’s right baby, Zach Wilson redemption tour starts now
    • Your last paragraph, painful. We suffered it all with Rhule and Fitterer and were rewarded with Bryce.  I’ll stop there, I have made hundreds of posts that say what I would say if I continued. 😂
