Just started playing FPS's online....questions.

Something else you can do is start a game on LAN server with bots on easy. Learn the maps that way and after you get better at killing the easy bots try it on normal.

Was how I learned when I went from PC to console few years back. But like it's been said most of the people nowadays know the maps like back of their hand. Every single camping spot glitch spot etc

lightsout gave some great tips. Listen to the man. Also if you have the money invest in a headset. Sounds are clearer and you can hear footsteps to sound *****, makes a big difference. Also in BF4 if I was you I'd use the ACE 23. Great all around weapon.

ACE 23 is great, but my go-to class is my Engineer with the AK5C (suppressor and either angled or ergo grip, can't remember). Haven't even tested any other carbine, let alone AR. My assault is just the M416 (suppressed). Maybe I'm missing out on having epic games by not using the ACE23 or the other weapons I routinely see, but I feel like the M416 and AK5C are pretty much the two best guns as far as damage-to-stability ratio is concerned. If there is something better, I'm all ears.

May need to tinker with my setups then. Been wanting to try the M4 for a while anyway. I heard the ACW-R was poo, but that's my buddy saying that, and he can't go positive in a single game of conquest as it is (but dammit, he tries).

Really, I'm just a creature of habit. I've been running the AK5C as my primary since I unlocked it day 1. So, maybe it's time to toy with the other weapons (side note: i fuging hate the Scar-H).

You're reflexes will get faster the more you play. And there are some perks that allow you to pull up your sight slightly faster

I think, that after reading this thread, that I don't have enough time to be "good" at these games.

It's more of a "hey I have an extra 30 minutes today, let's fire up a game" type thing.

Honestly, it's pretty frustrating, because it does seem kinda fun, but not when you are killing 2 and dying 10 times.

I love the ACE 52. That's my go to as Engineer. Otherwise I like the AWS or MG4 as support.

Been trying different guns and love the AK5C for all around weapon. Tried out the AEK, but really didn't like it. I did better once I got a reflex for it but if I want something for that close of a CQC, the PDW CZ 381 is the best. Since I like to run engineer mostly, I've been trying all the carbines out and overall I like the ak5c for big boards, acw-r for smaller boards, and CZ-381 or AS Val for up close CQC.

Loved the AWS and used it for a while, but after I decided to go back and try the MG249 ( re skinned MG4 with slightly different recoil patter) that gun is a beast, even in CQC. In Assault, the SCAR H is really good gun of you can learn how to use it well, but the new Ar160 is beast!

For the OP, I would suggest hardcore mode play. Not having that crosshair up all the time teaches you to have you aim pretty straight before you start shooting which is key, when you run up on someone, the difference between winning the battle or losing is that half second of aiming and shooting. Hardcore help make it more automatic getting you aim on.

Anyone on here KeepPounding59? If so, I was your teamate that was throwing flares on your camped sniper spot and getting you killed! Lol

I never liked the fast pace FPS like COD or UT. Throwing perks in the mix makes it almost unplayable if you're not a hardcore gamer.

 

Ghost Recon is my favorite FPS series - realistic pace, everyone is more evenly matched and (most of) the maps force you to strategize.

Last time I played any games was on PS2. After like a decade without gaming, I got the Xbone to play with my nephew so we could do some fun bonding. I only have played a few games with titanfall and BF4 the only games I play by myself. When I first started BF4, my average round was like 2-21. After a few months of playing, I'm closer to 20-10 unless I'm getting killed a lot taking out vehicles. If I can pick it up in a few months after never having played any of the previous BF's or COD, I'm sure others can. It really comes down to fractions of a second between winning or death in a gunfight and like I said earlier, hardcore mode really helped me with that.
