Watchdogs....

Finally releases today. Anybody pick it up yet? If so, what are your early impressions of the game? Physics? If hacking truly feels like something you can use to help you throughout the game, or if you can accomplish stuff just as easily going weapons loud? Picking the game up tonight for my PC on the way home from work and I can't wait to put some time into it. Watchdogs feels like a fresh experience from everything I've seen in live streams, and in magazines about it so I'm extremely hopeful about this one.

Also, if you've got it post some damn screenshots or videos !!!

I've read some reviews like cnet and joystiq's which both tell a similar story.  Conan O'Brien's clueless gamer was pretty funny as a review.  I look forward to more reviews.  That's one I'd pick up once I get a next gen console.

One thing in common with the reviewers was the sense that it's impossible to live up to the game's hype.  I think that's true.  We are so hungry for that PS4/XB1 "Wowsers" moment, we hype the crap out of each game until we see it and see it for what it is.  Just look at Thief...

Most importantly, I am looking forward to hearing what y'all think of the game.  Does it live up to the hype?

Really liking it so far, it's like a mix between GTA and Saints Row gameplay and physics wise with hacking added in.

Hacking Is super simple but still enjoyable because of the variety of things you find out through hacking.

Driving physics are a bit strange, but fun.

By far the highlight is the online 1 vs 1.

Only played a little bit, but really disappointed with the city layout. I live in downtown chicago, this is nothing close to chicago! There was a lot of speculation that almost all the streets were accurate, but building signs different. I'm was looking forward to running around my area. So right off the bat it sucked. I'll shake it off tonight.Try to put a few hours in tomorrow and get a better feel for it.

No developer is going to pay to license the rights for every single building, street sign, landmark etc in a game. That takes away money and development time from what actually matters. The game play. Much like GTA it's a slightly better than generic city layout that vaguely resembles Chicago without being close enough that Ubisoft won't be receiving lawsuits.

Had some issues getting my PC to cooperate with the game, but managed to get a couple hours in. Enjoyed it a good bit. Like others, I found the hacking relatively easy but it's vital to progressing in the game. Also something I enjoyed was how tenacious police and others are when chasing after you. Without going in the water it's extremely difficult to get away. You have to use traffic lights, blockers etc to your advantage. At one point I thought I had made a clear escape after opening a garage and cutting the car in a spot. Cops pulled in and drove around for about 15 seconds and I was like "alright I fooled them!". Nope, not even close. All of a sudden my car gets rammed and I'm being chased again. Looking forward to putting more time into the game for sure. Had my first guy try to jump in and steal my money last night. He was able to hack me, but as soon as he tried to high tail it I put two bullets in the back of his head. Very rewarding....

worth getting or just renting from redbox?

It's worth playing. Whether that means buying or renting largely depends on your income and if you're going to invest the time to really explore the city, dive into online etc. I'll put the hours in eventually to do all that which is why I picked it up. Plus I'll download mods since I got the PC version. If you just want to play through the storyline and move onto the next game I would suggest a rent. Also, if you're expecting some incredible next gen experience I would suggest just renting it too. Hope that helps.

    • Didn't know where to post this but it is panthers relevant since eventually we'll have a couple wr in Coker and tmac that will get paid. Jaxon Smith-njigba just signed a 4 year $168.6 million contract extension that now makes him the highest paid wr in nfl history. For now
    • Would be happy with Lomu or Iheanachor at 19. Fano is intriguing but I don't think he makes it.
    • II see it this way: We have to look at long-term needs and current depth.  We have filled some key spots with players on one-year contracts.  I firmly believe that they intend to pay Bryce some big bucks next year.  That means you cannot hope that your rookies in 2027 can fill the spots vacated by the veterans you could not afford to re-sign.   We need to consider the cap and the fact that the need to start a rookie is not viewed as a positive by coaches and general managers, but they value first contracts--so it is a delicate balance. I think they have to look at the cap by position--"Can we afford a $50m QB and a $100m OL?  That is half the cap, before you pay your WRs and RBs and TEs.  They need to start getting younger on the OL as well.   I am not suggesting that we draft OT in round 1, but we could and I would get it.  RT on a 1-year deal, they may have intel about Ickey (who was not the best LT, to be honest) and 32-year old Moton is on a bad wheel.   Now if you go by Morgan's history, you can almost tell what position we are going to address with the first pick by noting the positions he has not focused on in free agency.  DT, considering the lack of performance by those not named Derrick Brown and the loss of Robinson, is screaming to be addressed with a top player.  Wharton is not an early down DT (DE if you want to get technical) and our LBs need to be clean--they were not in 2025.  Look for a DT early. I also think we will address ILB (pass covering Will) on day 2.  The other day 2 pick will be an OT, in my view. Do not rule out CB.  We are thin there too, and Jackson is in his final year.  I am not sure that we love Smith-Wade.  Some crackhead on here talked about moving him to S----stay tuned.   Hopefully, a team wanting Ty Simpson will move up and offer us a pick or two to move back. DT WILB OT OC QB  (you heard it here 337th--but this pick could come sooner than you think.
