An entire NFL Division overseas?

Why cant the NFL have a D-League in basketball or a minor league team in baseball. Players probably didnt like going to Europe but players like Jake, Kurt Warner definatly developed and helped them earn a spot on a team by playing in NFLE.

If the NFL really wants to get another revenue stream going, why not develop that? They could put it regionally or in small markets and have it tied to a "home team" much like baseball. Rivera and Gettleman can develop those project players how they want and then bring them up when ready.

They could possibly have the leauge play during offseason or during regular season (play on days the NFL and college arent playing) it doesnt have to be national tv, but yoi would bring in revenue from those small markets who want to watch a live game.

If Europe wants football, let them create their own league. Think about it....some teams bitch about being tired from a flight from west coast to east coast. You really think having to fly basically as SOON as you finish one game in order to make it across the goddamn Atlantic in time to not be tired and get ready for the next game is a good idea? Logistically, it makes no sense to have an NFL franchise in Europe.

I WOULD be all for Olympic Football (winter olympics, too. 'cause fug 'em) if other countries could put together their own teams, though. We'd fuging annihilate.

Hell, the foundation for it is already there. PLENTY of semi-pro leagues in NC that I know of, just off-hand. A lot of other states have them (most, I would assume). All you gotta do is have the NFL get in touch with a couple of those semi-pro leagues, tell them the deal, throw a little money in their direction to sweeten the pot, and boom. You got yourself a developmental league.

Problem being money, though. Gotta have practice squad guys for scout team for your NFL team. Can't just send your practice squad guys (who you REALLY want to develop into something, right? That's why you signed 'em. Trying to get that diamond in the rough, right?). So that means you have to fill out at least another 40-53 man roster for D-league. And that'd be under the budget for the team. Unless Goodell wouldn't mind reworking the overall NFL budget to allow for the teams to have that money, it just wouldn't work.

I went to a Londen game last year, and from my perspective, Europe may be ready for some extra NFL-games (they upgraded from 2 to 4 this year), but a full division overseas? No, I can't see this going well.

Lots of attendees of those Londen games are foreign people. I spoke to Danish, German, French, etc.. I don't think those people will travel that far to attend those games every week. And in England, NFL is not that big of a deal compared to soccer.

I don't think the demand for nfl teams in europe is even that big. The NFL is overplaying their hand.

Every "Emperor", "King", or "General's" greatest victory is when they annex land from what I remember in the history books. They value that over almost anything else.

Goodell seeks to expand his land before he is gone, in his eyes, that will secure his satisfaction of himself.

I think they should start move one current team there (Jacksonville) and see how it works.

If it is successful than they could continue with a division.   I think if London was successful then Barcelona, Frankfurt and Amsterdam might actually succeed as long as they have NFL caliber players.  Unlike the NFL-Europe that wasn't much more than practice squad players.

Those teams that would have to play them would make a trip once every three or four years to play two games.   Just make the games back to back so there isn't two trips across the water.

Playoffs would be a pain but if they were to win their conference than so be it.

Daymeium Craig

Fred Jackson

James Harrison

Jamal Robertson

Brent Grimes

J.T. O'Sullivan

David Akers

Adam Vinetari

Kurt Warner

Jake delhomme

Jay Fedlier

Shaun Hill

Willie Pile

Most "notable players" were QB's, it was used to help develop QB's but it also helped other players learn the ropes and show what they could do. Were all of them all stars? No, but some lasted in the league more than the average 3-4 years

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
