Most Irreplaceable Defenders - Kuechly #2

Can't believe someone is still trying to really argue with the guys that are just trying to seek attention.

They would stand firm on the belief that a punter is more valuable than a MLB if it meant others would argue with them about it.

very intelligent QB's?  well the jury is still out on Kaepernick but the others are pretty obvious.

yeah two of those teams have first ballot hall of famers playing quarterback, one of whom plays in a division where the other three teams barely have a pulse in comparison.  the seahawks have bobby wagner in the middle who was nipping at kuechly's heels for DRoY in 2012 and, although it's a different scheme, the 49ers have this guy named patrick willis that a few of you might have heard of.

Have those guys been hit by other man during the course of a game? None of those guys really use any brain. They have fat man protecting them from being hit by other man and throw the football as quick as possible before being hit. That's just instinct. Fight or flight. The team with the better fat men have the advantage. It is quite simple. I use to tutor those dumb idiots in high school and college and I can attest to how dumb they are. Smart athlete my butt. Kuechly is just a jock and getting paid well to be so. Nothing brilliant about running sideline to sideline.

Are you mentally handicapped?

That's a serious question.

Opinions like that will get you accused of being my alt. lol

Anyhow, they'll soon learn when teams start taking advantage of our leaky secondary. The cry for shut down corner will star popping up in September.

Our secondary was below average last season and we still finished with a top 5 NFL defense.

Most of us already considered CB one of our top 3 needs along with OT and WR.

If you tutored any athletes then they probably were morons.

You can be intelligent and be good at sports. Would you rather be crunching numbers behind a desk every day and make $60,000 a year, or play a game you love with your teammates making millions a year? Now... I know your average football player isn't exactly a rocket scientist, but just because they play football doesn't mean they're dumber than a box of rocks. Just like nearly all your viewpoints that's an extremely ignorant way of thinking.

Of course we don't know them personally, but both Luke and Sherman come off as intelligent in their interviews. Manziel, in my opinion, seems like an idiot.

The players around those so-called first balloters also had a lot to do with it.

Still trying to figure out how we had a top 3 pass defense last year with average corners. Yes pass rushers and a good scheme and two elite linebackers

Your statement and Seattle's success prove my whole argument that secondary is more valuable than LBs.

You went from star corner to best secondary, yes 2 cbs and 2 s are more valuable than 1 mlb. Let's just all agree the more great players you have the better defense you will have.

I don't know if Manziel is an idiot as much as he's just a prick.

Debating intelligence with someone who can't write above a 5th grade level is ironic, huh?

(pretty sure he could write everything he knows about football on a post-it note and still have room for a grocery list)

Anyone with a clue knows any team in the league would give their left arm for a player like Luke. The notion that he's only good because of the DL ignores that he won OROY playing behind guys like Sione Fua and Terrell McClain.

But then why am I not surprised?

I don't usually like being "That Guy". But if harpo is a tutor, I weep for our future.

He has shown nothing to make me believe he knows anything about football. But you have to give him credit for...there has to be something...being consistent?

When people emphasized the intelligence of a certain player in order hold on to old adage in a profession that doesn't require intelligence then it's an insult to those who are involved in the high skill market. Emphasis of Kuechly as being a genius would imply the rest are dumb. As a person who tutored countless of those dummies to stay afloat on their eligibility I find that insulting. There so many professions that can use a genius, yet Kuechly choose to hit other man for a living. Intelligence force mankind to exercise prudence. A prudent individual would weigh out their injury risk and chose to apply their intelligence to another profession that does not require risk.

Also, a doctor who is making 300k/year have a similar standard of living to most people making millions. There is a threshold to standar of living. At a certain point it cannot get much better. Kuechly's job is way harder than a doctor's job and with high injury risk. Hitting other man is no easy task. It's no coincidence that most who fail as football players end up doing low wage jobs. Intelligent MLB, don't make me laugh.

Damn you're dumb.

Anyways, who the hell ever said anything about Kuechly being a genius?  They just said he was intelligent.  No one called him fuging Albert Einstein.

this goon Haplo is all over the place.  People call Kuechly intelligent, Haplo interprets this as claiming he is an off the field genius.  It's not difficult to change people's wording around or to exaggerate to make a point, so he probably feels pretty smart, especially after tutoring his middle school football team.

    • Bryce has improved each season, fwiw, statistically.  His slope is rising.  (Not to say I am high on him--I am not, but I have not given up on him--nor have I given up on XL, but damn he pisses me off)  CJ's slope is descending.   I was never a Penix fan.  Never, I say!
    • That is definitely the down side of all this--on paper, I would offer up a second rounder for him if he passed my interviews.  He has already gone through (seriously?) a treatment program for gambling addiction.  I just see him as a first round talent that we could get with a second rounder.  If I liked Bryce and felt good about paying him $50m per, I would not touch Sorsby.  If Bryce regresses or stays the same--he is going to expect to be paid.  Sorsby, in my view, has a better long-term future as an NFL QB.  He is big, mobile, has good arm strength, and makes wise decisions (on the field) with the football.  He is a great dual threat, RPO QB.   I think he is a perfect solution for the backup qb position and insurance for Bryce should he get injured or suck.  Pickett?  King?  yikes.
    • Hard to say--they are very unpredictable--this article came out last night---after our comments:  (ESPN)   How has the NFL approached NCAA players with gambling violations in the past? David Purdum, sports betting reporter: Quarterback Hunter Dekkers and wide receiver Kayshon Boutte were found to have committed gambling violations while playing college football, and both were allowed to pursue NFL careers. Dekkers was the projected starting quarterback at Iowa State but was ruled ineligible ahead of the 2023 season after an investigation found he had bet on at least one game involving the Cyclones (among other wagers that violated NCAA bylaws). The bet was just $15 on Iowa State to beat Oklahoma State in a 2021 game in which he did not play, but it led to the end of his Division I career. He played one season at Iowa Western Community College in 2024 before signing with the Saints as an undrafted free agent, and he spent last season on the practice squad. Boutte was arrested in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in January 2024 on charges of underage betting while at LSU. The arrest came roughly eight months after he had been drafted in Round 6 by the Patriots, and the charges were ultimately dropped. According to police, Boutte placed more than 8,900 wagers from April 2022 to May 2023, including betting on at least 17 college football games -- at least six of which involved LSU during that span. The NFL did not discipline Boutte.
